More BC talent updates
Yes, yes -- there were talent updates just yesterday. And today there are more. A lot more. There are large changes for druids (which, as a druid wannabe, made my jaw drop) as well as a number of paladin changes and one warrior tweak. And Nethaera still says to check back soon for more updates. All these talent changes really do suggest things aren't yet set in stone. (And that I need to finish leveling that druid of mine.) There are too many changes to list here, so click ahead and read on for the full details.Druid
Feral Combat
- Feral Instinct - Reduced to 3 ranks, 5/10/15%.
- Thick Hide - Reduced to 3 ranks, 4/7/10%.
- Nurturing Instinct - Reduced to 2 ranks, 50/100%.
- Survival of the Fittest - Reduced to 3 ranks, same 1/2/3% improvements.
- (NEW) Focused Starlight - "Increases the critical strike chance of your Wrath and Starfire spells by 2/4%."
- Improved Thorns - Renamed "Brambles", now increases damage from Entangling Roots as well.
- Omen of Clarity - Swapped with Insect Swarm, prerequisite from Natural Weapons removed.
- Improved Wrath - Renamed "Starlight Wrath", reduces cast time of Wrath and Starfire by .1/.2/.3/.4/.5 sec.
- Improved Starfire - Reduced to 3 ranks, no longer reduces cast time of Starfire, just has the 5/10/15% stun chance.
- Natural Shapeshifter - Moved to Restoration tree, where Improved Enrage was.
- Improved Healing Touch - Renamed "Naturalist", in addition to the cast time reduction of Healing Touch it also increases all physical damage by 2/4/6/8/10%. Essentially, we folded Natural Weapons into it.
- Natural Weapons - Removed.

- Reflection - Renamed "Intensity", mana regen in combat as it did in addition to causing Enrage ability to instantly generate 4/7/10 rage.

I'm not that sharp on Feral stuff, but people sound pretty happy about it.
I can say something about the updated Balance talents though. I think I will no longer be using the word Noobkin. Even when I was specced as one, I still used that word. I think now, it would be wise to just call them "Sir". Moonkin has 5% +crit instead of 3 (that was actually leaked a little while back), and the rest is just... juicy.
Here is what I will probably do when BC is released, for leveling and grinding.

Reading the talent descriptions, its like each one just gets better. Your Moonfire, Starfire and Wrath, now actually hurt. Oh and all three of those spells crit more, and here is a talent that makes the crits *really* hurt, and another talent for more damage, and look here-another talent that adds more damage based on the more damage we already had. Its like a Moebius loop of +spell damage on top of +spell damage.
Resto looks great still.
LFM 4 more Druids for 5 man instance. Have Feral Tank and Feral DPS, need 1 resto and 2 Moonkin. GG!

ouch...i appreciate having more points to play with, but removing natural weapons hurts a bit. that's a 10% damage reduction across the board... /cry

Oh my god Paladins got a strike! I might just continue my paladin now..

Natural Weapons is still there -- under a different name. The new talent "Naturalist" combines the former Improved Healing Touch with Natural Weapons all in a single talent.

With a year and a half experience of having a druid as my main, levelling resto and switching to feral a few months ago (long after the review), these changes make me freaking GIDDY. They are exactly what I wanted.
I loved feral instinct, but could only ever afford 3 points in it. As feral, I always wanted (and missed from my resto days) the cast time reduction on healing touch and the improved enrage and the mana regen talent, but could never quite afford the points. The changes to LotP and iLotP are incredible (higher crit? 100% chance to heal on crit on ALL ranks? Sign me up!!)
I haven't checked the forums yet, but I have no doubt druids are very happy with this (can't comment on balance changes). The talent issues were addressed to a point where it's almost too good to be true. If they can just fix the glaring itemization problems and other core class issues such as scaling (which this talent update finally gives me a glimmer of hope that this might be possible), then druids will finally stop being the red-headed stepchild of WoW and start living up to their potential on an equal footing to all of the other classes, where they belong.

Why is any additional DAMAGE in the resto tree? Sounds stupid to me.
Put Natural Weapons in the feral tree where it belongs Blizz!
Luka Oct 14th 2006 1:38AM
don't agree Moonbat. The Blizz move to make druids mix the talents is a complete success. You take them because you'll want to have 21 pts in resto. That's a great way to get them and improve your healing AND damage ZOMGWTFPWN :)
Seriously, druids got sooo much love with BC;
Beth Oct 12th 2006 3:55PM
Natural weapons works best in the resto tree because all druid specs should increase their HT time to be efficient. At the same time, it will allow resto specs a little punch to defend themselves with.
Beth Oct 12th 2006 4:01PM
I would like to see the armor sets fixed. Either make them workable for all specs or make a tier set for each spec. I know that's asking a lot... but it's better than farming DM for resto armor because Tier .5/1 isn't nearly as good.

That Crusader Strike looks awesome for Paladins!
And I have seen Druids recieve mucho love from Blizz in the expansion.
But I haven't seen much for Warriors.
Sorry if this is an ignorant post, but I can't access the WoW from work.
Anyone have an opinion on the new warrior talents?
Jackal Oct 15th 2006 1:31PM
Pardon my ignorance, but Crusader Strike is "40% of your holy spell damage"... which holy spell..? They have lots of holy spells which do holy damage of varying degrees..?
Ikickyourass? Oct 12th 2006 6:45PM
^^ It means 40% of your +holy spell damage... In other words it takes 40% of your +spell damage and adds it to the attack.
BE Paladins with huge anime hair FTMFW

I love Blizzard, please let me have your babies! (Even though I'm a guy)
