Paid character transfer cooldown reduced
And not just reduced a little bit, it has been reduced a lot. It has gone from six months to a single month. So if you transferred a character at the beginning of September, you can go ahead and transfer again to any eligible realm for the standard fee of twenty five dollars.I wonder why they did this? I liked the rationale of having a 6 month cooldown, that being to prevent people with generally boorish behavior from jumping from server to server. But at the same time, if someone made a mistake in transferring to a server, it would be nice to be able to reverse it in a relatively short amount of time. And the cynic in me thinks that Blizzard simply sees this as a new revenue stream. But hey...no crime in that! Making money is what they are in business for.
With the new, shorter cooldown, are you more likely to transfer knowing you can undo everything (for $25 of course) in a mere thirty days?

Awesome!
I moved my warlock over to another server (Oceanic) thinking it was going to be better there. Turns out the logon queues were terrible as other people started moving there as well. Had to wait like 20-40 minutes just to play.
Didn't want to have to wait 6 months to move him back. Thanks Blizzard!

The cynic in me thinks this is going to get abused ...
1. Ninja
2. Transfer
3. Ninja
4. Transfer
etc.

PCT is a bloody disaster.
Blizzard is in a fevered cash frenzy scooping up the extra cash from this process and at the same time they're mismanaging the transfer numbers on a galactic scale. This of course leads to people wanting to move again because Blizz are CLUELESS about how many people are coming and going on each server and when they move they find more queues. In short, more money for Blizz.
Blizz has reduced the cooldown to maximise their returns from the PCT market. Shameful.

Now if we could only transfer PVPPVE.
Keith Oct 18th 2006 8:19AM
That was supposed to come out as PVP<->PVE.

I give up.

I don't think the ninja->transfer problem will be too bad. You do still have to pay $25 each time you transfer. 4 transfers is an extra $100. With that kind of extra cash getting sunk into the game, they may as well just buy gold on ebay.
As for the PvP --> PvE ... you can do this currently.
You cannot do PvE --> PvP though, which sucks for me.
I mainly play on a pvp server, but I was playing a character on a pve with my brother, who isn't really playing anymore. I'd love to transfer that one over to my pvp server.
Oh well.

I, for one, am glad they reduced it. Every Sunday I find myself in a queue of 300 on Mal'Ganis, a server that's been my home since release. This was never a problem until people started transferring to our PVP server of global repute (which is kind of pointless. as long as you're in our battlegroup, you can fight with/against us). Oddly, transfers to us are still open. Anyway, my hope is that the lower cooldown on transfers will prompt newcomers to Mal'Ganis to reconsider their initial migration and move on to a less populated server.
