Breakfast Topic: PvE to PvP Transfers?
I have been seeing more and more posts like these popping up on the forums. I don't know if it is something in the water or what, but these requests seem to be multiplying like rabbits. Basically, the original poster is looking for a PvE to PvP server transfer. While I am not entirely opposed to the idea, I do think leveling up on a PvP server is a lot tougher than doing so on a PvE server. And I don't necessarily mean tougher as in more of a challenge, which you could argue that it isn't, I mean more of a time sink. The quests aren't any harder, nor the mobs, and if you are persistent you will finish all your quests and grind your way to 60 just like you would on a PvE server. There just happens to be folks waiting around every corner to slow you down as much as possible. I guess after you reach level 60 and you are getting the majority of your gear and loot out of instances, things even out, but even then, there are certain advantages to being able to venture across contested zones farming for herbs knowing you aren't going to get ganked or get into a 5 on 1 corpse camping situation.
I personally wouldn't be opposed to the idea if Blizzard created a few new servers for these PvE-to-PvP wannabees, but I am not sold on the idea that they should be allowed to transfer to an already existing PvP server. What do you guys think? Should Blizzard open up the floodgates? Make a new server? Or leave well enough alone?

I don't see transferring people from PVE->PVP as a big deal. It's not like a PVE 60 is going to be an equal match to someone who's developed skills on a PVP server. Well, unless they did a lot of battlegrounds, in which case the server distinction is pretty moot.
Frankly the main advantage I see in a PVP server is it encourages players that might otherwise solo all the outdoor content to form groups for mutual protection, which IMHO makes the game experience more interesting.
All this talk about "working for level 60 and earning
it on a PVP server" has no bearing on how the transfers affect the game balance. You might as well argue that classes shouldn't be rebalanced or encounters shouldn't be difficulty adjusted, because then someone else will be have an easier time doing an encounter and they wouldn't have "earned it" like you did.

It isn't about the 60 v 60 combat but ill be damned if some 60 whos never been ganked gets a chance to gank some lvl 30 in stv. It isn't a big deal... but it is a deal and if you want a 60 on a pvp server... get one like everyone else has. If you don't want to do the 1-60 grind agian then I guess you don't want it bad enough.

I personally don't see the problem with the transfer. Due to the nature of the PAID transfer I think players should be able to go to whatever realms they want (unless due to population restrictions of course). If a player wants to make the chage from pve-pvp they should be able to without starting a new character and if they don't like the pvp server then they simply have to stick to their choice for 3 months. I levelled on a pvp realm and while it got annoying when I got camped, The random pvp fights would be fun as they were unpredictable.

People making comments that PVP realm players are snobs or whatever are completely missing the point. Sure you may want to bring a 60 across to raid or hang with your friends or whatever, but it seems unfair that you can lvl ezmode, and then if you were allowed to move across, have the option of ganking people when you never had to deal with it yourself. PVP'ers gank at lvl 60 because we were ganked growing up. It's cultural.
And those people that say "omg it's just a game nubz get over yourself" are the same people I can imagine saying "omg it's a game nubz I'll ninja loot or buy gold if I want get over yourself"
That said, I agree with consolidation. If someone has a 60 PVE and wants to move to a PVP server where they have a 60, why not. They got to the top and "paid their dues" so to speak. IMO they've earnt the right.
Also, I agree with people transfering an account that is below the lvl of say 30-40, so they can at least get a taste of being on the recieving end of the gank stick before hitting 60. I don't see there being much of a problem with that.
I don't really understand this inherent "need" where people feel they're missing out on the PVP culture on a PVE server. Hit up a BG, that's where all the HK's are anyway, and there's no difference between BG on a PVE or PVP server. Especially with X-server bg's now.
The only cultural difference between PVP and PVE is the world random PVP encounters. And if you transfer a 60 onto a PVP server, we all know what kind of "random PVP encounter" you're really after.
Reroll on PVP and earn it like the rest of us. If you want to move to hang with friends, then you've already got people willing to help you level.

I am sorry...you have to earn the right to gank. You can't level up in COMPLETE safety and then jump on a PVP server and go start ganking lowbies. You only have the right to gank if you had to deal with the ganking yourself.
It's like a rite of passage. When I first hit 40 and got my mount on a PVP server, I swear I spent like a solid week just ganking...getting payback! Did the same thing at 60. And I earned it!

Ok. I want to move my character from a PVE server to a PVP server
Blizzard makes these rules up off the top of their heads with absoletly no logic behind it. Oh I am not going to let a PVE server player transfer to a PVP server because it took more time to level to 60 on the PVP server. Give me a break. The amount of extra time is so small and in addition to that the game starts at 60 anyways. I bet everyone has spent more time playing after 60 then they did from 1-60. I am leveling a warlock(42 now) on a PVP server now and believe me its not taking that much more time that when I leveled my 60 warrior on PVE server.
Not only that I have called blizzard before and their accounting people are using the word "carebear". How unprofessional is this. I found this insulting to all the time I spent playing this character on the PVE server.
Blizzard then if PVE is carebear then why do you mix the battlegrounds with PVE and PVP players?? Why are you PVP server players attacking the PVE players in these BGs. Aren't you afraid that there gear may be better because it was easier to get on the PVE server. Oh let me check what server this guy is on before I attack him.
When I leveled by 60 warrior before the cross battlegrounds the q's for AB and WSG were 1 hour long at times when AV never even went off at all for the entire day! Now is easier to gain exalted then it was before and get the better gear. What about new players that don't have to do this long grind anymore?
I ahve another 60 char on the Jaedenar server. The AB, WSG, AND AV q's are all less than 2 minutes long each!! I was able to get exalted in AV in 6 days an. So level a character on a newbie server that is included in a Battlgegroup where the Q's are short, then transfer it to a high player PVP server where all the whiner carebear complainers are. Not only that on these newbie PVP server the amount of opposite faction attacking you while your questing and grinding XP is very low and its almost like being on PVE server.
If blizzard starts creating all these rules about what can't be done because of imbalance then maybe they should look at the imbalances of the game. Pissed off because I just want to play with friends.

Its more of a principle: the "right" to go around and kill little lvl 30 hordies with you siny new lvl 60 should only be confered on those who were once puny lvl 30's getting ganked in STV by the latest zg raid.
Gear/leveling times everything else are pretty much the same, but the right to gank should only be given to people who were ganked.
