It's official...Burning Crusade delayed until January 2007, new content patch on the way
It was rumored yesterday, and now...it is a fact. We will not be seeing the Burning Crusade Expansion until sometime in January. Eyonix posted the bad news this morning by way of the WoW.com forums. On one hand, I understand that they want to ship a fully functional product they can be proud of. One the other, wouldn't it be possible, over the course of two years, to have such a product ready? I guess I am just a little disappointed, but as I said, at least they are taking their time and getting it done right.
In another thread, Eyonix is promising a content patch sometime before the expansion to keep us all busy. What is in this patch? According to Eyonix, it will contain a new honor system, some new talents and abilities and a bunch of other goodies. This is good news, but I was really hoping to have the expansion in my hands before the end of the year.
What do you guys think? Good thing they are delaying? Or is it annoying that Blizzard is taking this long? Or both?
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in via our tip form!]

Well, atleast we have a definate answer. I've been playing since launch and just now lvl 55 so it's nice to know I will be able to spend a little time at 60 before BC.

I really want to play a Blood Elf already ... Now I guess I will keep my account canceled until it comes out :/

*CRY*
That really sucks.

More time for those near 60 to get there, more time for my guild to hone their skills, we are at firemaw in BWL, and expansion in weeks would pretty much have us on hold. Would like to attempt Nef before expansion:). I would rather see a polished expansion and a patch with a new honor system is juuuuust fine with me.

I'm very disappointed. They have been teasing us with this expansion for over a year now. I always feel I'm getting played by them.

disgusting. I could not be more upset, in terms of a video game thing. There is nothing else i wanted for christmas. Nothing. And Blizz let us be led along to be disappointed like this? Its awful. They should be ashamed. And it cant be a good move comercially either. How much money do you lose when now, noone can be bought the Xpac as a christmas gift?

Like I said in the rumor blog, I don't mind the delay as long as Blizz gets it right. At least now I have more time to lvl up my Shadow Priest (currently at 40) and alternate with the Horde warlock I always wanted to roll with.
I'm glad they'll fix the PvP honor system before the xpac comes out. Those two alts I'm lvling will be used mainly for PvP anyway.

Not the best news, but I'm happy that they'll be taking the time to make sure it's a "more stable than not" release.
I can only imagine how much crap everyone would have to put up with if it shipped all buggy, or worse yet, incomplete.

Well,at least now I have more time to get my Mage up to 60 before BC. And I can spend time with the Nintendo Wii and the Hd-DVD addon for my XBOX360. Maybe I'll even see my family and friends over Christmas.
It's not like Blizz is gonna lose sales over this. Either you play Wow and you're gonna get it, or you don't and you're not.
I just want to have a set date for release so I can request time off of work in advance.

Let's make a campaign on the strongest It is barefooted?

Is your life is pathetic that you would be disappointed at the delayed release of a video game?? I mean, come on! Software delay is nothing new.
Boohoo! Oh my god, if you're one of the ones that are waiting on BC with "bated breath," you need to try to turn off the game once in a while and go out and kiss a girl (it's okay even if you're a girl, too :) )

Typical Blizzard - the game won't be perfect on release, but it looks like even Vivendi couldn't talk them into releasing a beta as the finished product. Shouldn't we have been more surprised if Blizzard DIDN'T delay, given their history?
If you're frustrated, just cancel for a few months and see if it's worth coming back in February or so. That's what all the cool kids are doing! Haha...

It's complete poop. I've played WoW to 60 on two seperate occasions and have done half of the 40 man dungeons. I personally don't enjoy the 40 man raids and have been looking forward to a more time managable game.
Thank god I didn't put in for a vacation day for the last rumored launch day.

OMFG WHY BLIZZARD WHY?!?! I can't even think straight I'm so mad, OMFG man seriously.. I'm having trouble breathing.. I'm goin to have to get my inhaler
Oh my goodness I'm calling them RIGHT NOW and demanding that they release it in November. I'm sure that I will persuade them since I have been playing 20 hours a day since release!! They OWE it to me to do this!
Bill Oct 24th 2006 9:43AM
They just lost a customer. I'm not buying it next year.
Eggman Oct 24th 2006 9:46AM
Though the delay of BC is disappointing, at least it gives us all a little more time to get ready for the major changes in the expansion, Blizzard included.
And remember, since when has a Blizzard title come out on time?
I am surprised thought that they'd have a closed beta, NDA lifted, yet still delay even further.
Extorn Oct 24th 2006 10:31AM
Woohoo more time to level my Alts.
Who didn't see that coming ?
Niekon Oct 24th 2006 9:48AM
hmmm... Blizzard must have heard that I was trying to get my two characters up to 60 before the expansion and that I've been rather tied up at work these past couple of weeks... and will continue to be pulling those long hours in the office...
If only I could figure out a way to convince my boss to upgrade my desktop so I can install WoW here and play for a bit during lunch ^_~
Jamus Oct 24th 2006 9:55AM
I am bummed about it, but at least they are giving us a small holiday treat with the new content patch. Hopefully it will be something good and not just fluff.
Mojak Oct 24th 2006 9:49AM
I'm extremely happy they are pushing it off. I did not want another beta copy of a game that the users end up testing with lots of down time after release. I'd rather wait a month, even 2 months for a finished product that I can play from day 1 without sitting at an Authenticating or multiple realm restarts.
Good job Blizzard! Keep it up
