Breakfast Topic: Change of Plans?
With a lot of the World of Warcraft community anticipating a Burning Crusade launch sometime in November or early December, people were making plans with the expansion in mind. Maybe you stopped grinding faction, started attending less raids or began the long money grind for a flying mount. Now that we know that the expansion is probably at least 3 months away, and not right around the corner, does that change your gameplan? I know a friend or two who claim they are going to take a break until January. And some people in my guild who haven't gone on a raid in a month or two suddenly showed up tonight looking for a spot in our AQ40 run. Coincidence? Maybe. But maybe not. I personally have started leveling another alt on a PvP server for the heck of it, simply because I know the expansion is not imminent, and I need a little something to do. I also pre ordered Gears of War, as I will have some unanticipated free time come this November.
The question is...does the delay of the expansion change the "why bother raiding when we can get better stuff in the Outlands?" attitude, or is it just dragging this awkward period out for another couple of months? Have you changed your WOW gameplan since the announcement yesterday? And if you did change plans, or even if you didn't, how are you going to pass the time until January?

You know, I'm still new to the game so thankfully this gives me time to level my main to 60 in time. Won't have all the high level gear but at least I'll be ready for the content when it's available.
...
but I really wanna roll my Pally

I think there is a point of farming HLIs. Farm Naxx for cool gear, and farm others for mainly Res gear. But of course Outland blues will be better, then a BWL epic.
Personally, I just make PVP for fun till the release.

Having left a PvP server a while back, I'm still enjoying being able to...you know, PLAY the game for once instead of watching for gankers. If the expansion was delayed a second time, it wouldn't bother me at this point. I'm still finding new quests to do.

Dark Solace(H-Skullcrusher) is still planning to kick down the BWL door this week... even if there are going to be better items come expansion. We still need the raid experience for the 25 man instances when they hit the radar.
The extension of the release just gives us more time to work at that. We're not after the purples at this point, we're after the experience.
True, the starting lvl 60-61 blues are as good as the epics from BWL. However, it will be a little bit easier for those with T2-T3 to quest in outland in the first moments of it's opening (Not that it will be hard anyway). And coming from a PVP server as I am... there will be ganking going on. Better to be in T2 than level 54-59 greens and blues when that happens.

With the xpac coming I recently gave my 60 undead priest to a friend that had never played and started a new account with a hunter. I had planned (and am still planning) on being a Blood Elf Paladin come xpac, so I started a hunter so I could farm gear/pots/mats etc etc for my paladin so I wouldn't have to spend any money or have any troubles on lvls 1-60. With the news of the delay, now I may just take my hunter on a raid or two or even level another alt to 60. We'll see.

I just joined a guild on a new server that's going to level to 60, and just run ZG and AQ20 until the expansion hits, in anticipation of the new gear. That oughta hold my attention till January.

Well, the guild im in is screwed. The officers decided to disband and create a new one specifically for Outlands and 25 man instances(the reasoning behind this, apparently, was to weed out the less active/well equiped players to have the best 25 or so for BC), so now we are left with a guild with not enough people for the instances we used to farm(BWL/AQ40 etc), which means there will be a whole lot of nothing going on till January... dissapointed and annoyed to say the least.

Well I can at least get some well deserved off-time from WoW thanks to the expansion being delayed. And even after a month or two without WoW, I can still start levelling my alt and start mining those copper ores for my future draenei jewelcrafter.

Final Fantasy XII, nuff said. Course it won't take 3 months to get thru the whole game, but at least it'll be some sort of distraction.

My plans changed. I was leveling my first character to 60 for Burning Crusade... I didn't think I was going to make the deadline, but now I think I have more time then I really need. I'm going to get to 60, get standard gear then call it a day. I'll only come back to my account once Burning Crusades is out. And I'm sure a lot of people are looking at the same plan. And I'm sure Blizzard have been noticing.
Mordiceius Oct 25th 2006 10:24AM
Katie, I completely agree! Only another week and it'll be in my hands!!! WOOOO! I'm so excited for that.

I would rather it be delayed then it just be buggy. This also gives people more time to get to 60. It isnt that bad that it is delayed.

I've shelved my Naxx raiding rogue till the expansion, the time in raids just isn't worth it vs. alternatives now.
Alternatives being leveling up either my mage or my hunter to 60, which will be easy now by BC release, to take advantage of the easy T2 equivalent gear coming in the expansion.

Complain if its too early and buggy....complain that its delayed...lol Blizzard can never make anyone happy...hahaha
And maybe some Out blues will be better then the epics however, maybe walking in to the outlans with crappy gear might get your butt beat. but that is your choice.
It kills me to listen to everyone complain that they want Total freedom of the game yet everytime we hear people complain its always the same....its too hard or takes too long or i dont know what to do..../cry /cry /cry.
i will be happy to wait. hopefully when it does come it will be done and Working as intended.

I am so relieved it's coming out in January. My guild will get a chance to down C'Thun and start working on Naxx because of this!
Ian Oct 25th 2006 11:45AM
Signups for last week's ZG raid: 5
Signups for this week's ZG raid: 21 and climbing
Speaks for itself.

"And maybe some Out blues will be better then the epics however, maybe walking in to the outlans with crappy gear might get your butt beat. but that is your choice."
Actually:
1. For rogues, the *craftable* green Thick Draenic line available in the low BC levels is roughly equivalent to BWL tier 2s.
2. Blizzard posters and beta testers have stated that raiding gear will make Outland a bit easier for a few levels, but is definitely not necessary.

I've already retired my rogue until the expansion...this will give me time to get my priest up to 60, and save up some gold.
Toroko Oct 25th 2006 12:36PM
This delay is annoying to me, but I don't really care that much. That's 3 more months that I can spend doing RL stuff and not playing WoW. Even after BC is released, it's only going to be a way to pass the time for me until Warhammer Online comes out in 2007.
The next 3 months of WoW is pointless in playing so alot of people are going to be taking a 3 month break from WoW. 3 months of not playing WoW is a good way to break the addiction and the real question is: How many people will NOT come back to WoW in 3 months.

I have an epic'd out hunter, but i rerolled a mage. I still look forward to getting my teir 2 gear and that mageblade thingy if golmagg decides to drop the sum bich.
Honestly the game has not changed much for me. Sure I am not as focused as I was. But alts for disenchanting(now that they have to be at least level 35 or so), mount money, and pvp rank before the new patch hits are things I am working on. I will still be there for my guild in mc and what ever instance they run.
But like Toroko said, its kind of a blah time. I look forward to tbc, but in the idle time till rl happens and i am wondering if tbc will matter so much? people are slowing down their activities and logging off sooner. or playing alts. kind of defeats the purpose of doing much atm. But where is the line between stopping for a while, and stopping completely?
only time will tell...
