Breakfast Topic: Your First Class
When I first bought World of Warcraft, I hadn't followed the development or beta process very closely at all. In fact, even though I preordered months before release, I had no real idea what all the different classes were. Although I can't remember for sure, I think my first look at the classes was when I created my very first toon (working 70 hours per week will do that to you). Not knowing which classes were considered good, and which were gimped, and what race to choose for which class, I did what approximately 50% of all players did during that initial launch period...I chose a Night Elf rogue. Noob city, huh? I played that rogue until the mid-30's, then I gave up, rolled a priest, leveled it to 60 and the rest is glorious Bloodhoof history. I recently started playing that rogue again just for the heck of it, and it got me thinking...what became of the first toon other people rolled? I know my best buddy had a druid he played for about four days before switching to warlock, and he told me the other day that since he gave up the druid he has never as much as logged him in again. I have another friend who rolled a mage on day one and it is still his main to this day.
What about you guys? Which class did you start with and why? Careful research or just randomly choosing whatever looked interesting at the time? And do you still play the toon? Or is it in the dustbin?

I did what all noobs did... that didn't wanna do what everyone else was doing...
and rolled an undead rogue :P
His name was Tomblie and I got him to level 43 before I got my own account *he was on another person's account* so I recently started over and went Orc Hunter. I miss Tomblie though

My first character is my main! The good old generic Human Warrior. But of course if I had known I would have been a meatshield in end-game I would have gone with a 'lock.

I choose a Night Elf Hunter and still play with it as my main
I choose it because I in the Lord of the rings films i like the elf :P and Hunter because i saw the hunter in the intro movie and i looks cool to me :P

My first character in retail was a NE priest and it is still my main character.
And now comes the embarassing part: In beta, I tried a NE druid first, but I failed the bear form quest (died while doing it) and I abandoned the druid because I thought that I'll never get the bear form again. :)
So I tried most of the classes in beta except the weak priest class.
In retail I started playing a priest and the rest is history mates.

Night Elf Rogue

Haven't touched it to this day, realm was not a pvp realm which at the time I did not care about. Got it to about lvl 28 when I got sucked back into the decaying Star Wars Galaxies. Now I play a Druid who is going ot be level 60 tonight :D (my first lvl 60) on Dunemaul.

The first class I took over lvl 10 was a Dwarf Pally. I was lvl 24 before I knew about Talents. And I was lvl 25 before I realized that leatherworking for a pally wasn't the best of ideas. I was lvl 26 before I realized pallies suck and rerolled.

A human warrior. For me I've found that warriors tend to be the best way to "learn" a games mechanics. I chose Human for, well, i can't remember to be honest. I still have him, he got to level 41.
These days, over a year later, I play cloth wearers only, and my main is a priest. Again, games have always gone that way for me - weird huh? Even single player - Neverwinter Nights, for example, I started as a warrior, ended up with mages.

Nov 2004, created a Night Elf Hunter.
Started on an RP server and got him to 40-something.
Then he got retired so I could go to a PvP server where I created an NE Rogue.
Mid-40's and that Rogue got retired so I could join a group on yet another PvP server where I got to level 60 with a Tauren Shaman and saw the start of some BWL Raiding.
The Hunter languished until he got transferred to another RP server to play with friends.
Now he's level 53 and actively working on AV rep and PvP honor, and leveling.

Gnome Warlock. I wanted to play a caster and I wanted pets. I read about warlocks in the manual and thought it whould be nice. But I didn't like it at all. I leveled it to 11 and then I gave up and rerolled a Undead Priest. Took that one to 21 and then I created a Gnome Mage which I really enjoy to play. She is currently level 41. I started playing WoW in January 2006.

My first character in WoW is my main today, but he's had some hardships.
I made a Night Elf Druid, because I didn't know what to be (so many choices!) and the whole "being able to do everything" kind of peaked my interest. I got him to about 35 or 36 before I just stopped playing the game altogether. I just stopped playing. And then every time I'd relapse, and try it for another month, I'd never go back to him, and I'd always start a new character.
Well, just a month or so ago I picked him up, transferred servers to where I got a bunch of my friends to go and now he's up to 50, and would be higher if I didn't always have class and tests to study for...

I rolled a Tauren Druid for my first character and never got him passed 9. I switched to pvp server with some close friends and rolled a human rogue, and stopped playing him at 45. I finnally opted for an Undead Mage which is now my main and is stomping through bwl. I even transferred him to a new server to rejoin the group of friends I started the game with.

My first "offical" character was a gnome mage. I lvled him to 12 but I kept dying and realized I couldnt play on my own (only because I didnt know how to play a mage). So I rerolled a dwarf hunter and lvled him to 26, then quickly killed him off to make a NE Druid - who I lvled to 18 then killed off and made a female human palladin who i lvled to 30 and then killed...finally I went back to gnome mage and rocked it until lvl 35...then my server started being down constantly and lagging...350 latency!!!! all the time. So I switched servers like 40 times and along the way I picked up warlocks (off course the whole time my g/f was telling me to roll 'lock because they were the greatest). That's where I am now...Döt lvl 19 Gnome Warlock on Yesera.
I think when BC comes out I am going back to mage but Döt will be my main forever.

My first was a troll hunter that I gave up on at lvl 47 - I rolled a Shaman on the same server but got bored again at lvl 40 so made A Gnome rogue that I stuck with to 60.
Also on the same server I have a 46 priest but have just gone back to my hunter after lots of issues on my main server and levelled him to 57 so far. I hope to get both hunter and priest to 60 by the time BC comes out :)

My life story
(I had to title this because I didn't realize it would be so long when I first started writing it)
I was in tech school in the military when I started (last November) so I got into the game about a year after release. I had tried to resist it as long as I could because I heard about the horrible things it does to people (my friend described WoW as the gift that keeps on taking). I started in November and I've been a hardcore player, clocking in 4+ hours a day on average.
When I started, everyone at the cyber cafe at the base I was at was Alliance. I knew about all the sides and wanted to play Horde, but I also wanted to play with them, so I didn't.
I think I started out with a Tauren Druid though, just to see what it was like. I got him to I think level 3 and then deleted him and switched to Alliance. I then started a Human Paladin. Got that paladin to level 21 and abandoned that character. I then started a night elf rogue (cause there arn't enough of them, amirite?!). I got that rogue to level 38 and then it was time for me to leave that base.
When I got stationed at my new base, I talked to some people and found out a bunch of my co-workers were in this raiding guild on Bleeding Hollow. (I was previously on the Sargeras server). I created a lvl 1 on BH to talked to one of the guild officers and see if any classes were needed. I got the response "We always need healers" So I rolled Undead Priest and finally got to fight for the glory of the Horde!
I got him to 60 and then created a couple alts, a warrior I got to 22, a rogue I got to 25, a druid I got to 23. Then, with the xpac soon approaching, our guild started talking about how we would need some paladins when the xpac came. Myself as some others volunteered to reroll paladin. Being that I would be playing another healing class, I wouldn't ever be playing my 60 priest again (not even for a farmer, I sucked at farming on my priest), so I sold it to a friend of mine. I started a new account the 3rd of this month and have my new character, an orc hunter, all the way to level 53 already as he is going to be farming gear and gold so my paladin will have an easy ride to 60.
Wow... that turned out really long. Sorry.
For the Horde!

I've been through so many toons before I settled on my main.
First was a human warlock (this lastest until my first venture into Westfall).
Then it was a NE druid (got 'em up to lvl 26 before abadoning alliance and moving onto horde).
Then a troll rogue, orc warrior, and undead mage (woohoo I learned to play the alt game). I got my warrior up to 36 before moving to another server to be with some RL friends.
Finally I rolled my main, NE priest (despite all the warnings not to) and lvled up to 60, I'm apart of a raiding guild and I'm not looking back.

Started off WoW with a plan, had basically a list of chars I wanted to try (had way too much time on my hands), first off were a gnome rogue and human warrior (both ended up being deleted), also got a tauren druid to about lvl 8, then I went a bit mad and almost maxed out my char limit on 4 servers with various alts before finally settling for playing my PVE dwarf hunter and PVP undead mage, lvling them both to about 50.
Then I got bored...
Had an inv from my friend who was making a troll rogue, decided to group with him on my druid back on my first server and got her to 60! Made a new undead mage (now 58), a tauren hunter (now about 50) and am saving up various items for my bloodelf pally. Tauren definately have to be the best race of WoW.
For the Horde! For the Tauren!

My first character was a human rogue back in the closed beta. I got her to about level 30 before trying out the other classes.
When retail hit, I leveled another rogue to 35. The overabundance of the FotM class(and resulting difficulty in finding a group) caused me to re-roll as a priest, which I took to 60.
My priest is basically a mooncloth factory now, and I split my time between a paladin and a warlock(both 60).

To tell the truth, my first character was a Horde Druid on my brothers’ account. He told me that I just had to get this game and play--so he hooked me up on his pc and I began the art of making my first toon. Since that time I have received my own copy of the game and my “first” character was and is a Dwarf Rogue. I love dwarves and the rogue class had some really cool abilities (pick-pocket--and now while in combat). He’s been lvl 60 for a little over two months.
Since I did start a Druid I took the time to rebuild one but as a Night Elf and he is at lvl 31 as of now. My other alts are all Dwarves--a tank, a Pally, and a Hunter.
I have tried caster--Priest, Mage, and Lock--with no luck. My Mage made it to 35 before I traded him in for the Hunter. I think it the armor--I more than just cloth, but I may try one again sometime.

My first character was a gnome rogue on Bloodhoof, and he's still my main. I've got a multitude of alts, some of them even 60, but I keep coming back to my gnome.

My first was a Tauren hunter that I really enjoyed, but after playing with other hunters I realized that I truly sucked as a hunter. SO, I rolled an undead Lock who has become my favorite. Of course I have the ubiquitous priest and shammy cause of course I'm horde, but my new 32 druid is coming on up in the world.
