Forum Post of the Week
I have decided to start highlighting what I believe to be the Forum Post of the Week. And I will do it weekly. Hah. How do I select the post of the week? Well, I take all the posts that have any semblance of creativity, intelligence or reason and toss them out the window. That leaves me with approximately 99.99% of the posts left over to choose from. Next, I find a post that kind of rambles on a bit, provides no insight, and has gratuitous spelling and grammar errors. Once I find one that fits the bill, I make sure we have some equally as inane responses and bam! I have have a Forum Post of the Week.
This week's Post of the Week comes to us from the creatively named Ninjapirate from the Kirin Tor realm. And lookie there...he is a level one alt! Fabulous! His post first caught my eye with the witty title "No offense". Whenever someone starts off a conversation with the term "no offense", it generally means someone is about to be offended. And as you can expect, Ninjapirate delivers! Who does he choose to offend? The homosexual community! However, he doesn't really offend them, as his post is complaining about him choosing a female toon and being hit on by homosexual men. Men who think he is a woman, therefore not exactly homosexual. Ninjapirate should spend less time playing WoW and more time trying discover the meaning of the word "homosexual". Finally, he peppers his amazingly insightful post with incredible amounts of spelling errors, sentences that make no sense whatsoever and arguments that have no basis in reality. All in all, it is truly a great start for our Post of the Week feature.
As there is a high probability of this idiotic post getting deleted, I have captured it for you after the jump. If you see any particularly amazing posts in the forums, send them my way!
"No Offense" a post by Ninjapirate:
but there must be an over -ambundance of homosexuals that play this game (no offense)
i have like 6 alts all males, so i decided just once to try out a female character. (im a guy btw).
im lvl 10 already i have gotten at least 6 random tells from other guys starting out like:
"hey baby.....can i help you with anything" (this guy is a 42 hunter in IF while im grinding in westfall.)
or
"hey sexy...."
keep in mind my character's name is feminine sounding. This is just to let you guys to think beofre you start typing...cuz i may appear to be a G.I.R.L. ingame, but im a dude IRL.
srsly.
what would you guys do?
my last tell was...."im curious as to behind the meaning of your name, and how old are you?" i lied and told him im a 75yr old grannie, that ST FU him rite up.
anyone else have thi problem?

Wow..... I don't know if this guy is over exagerating or maybe his realm is just different than mine, but being myself a guy that has a female main I've never had anything like that happen to me. The only thing I can remember was once someone asking me if I was a girl IRL, but this was after talking to me for a good amount of time on various other subjects. Needless to say this is quite an amazing post on so many different levels.

Ever since I started reading the forums...
I mean...
are there REALLY people like this out in the world?!
This isn't exactly a dumb post, but its a post full of quotes FROM dumb people. Its all the priests showing the kinds of things they get from people, asking for heals and the like

This is a wonderful idea. You sift through those posts and find the funny ones so I don't have to. Too much time swimming through all that bile makes me want to puke my own kneecaps. (How's that for an image?)
In regards to "Ninjapirate should spend less time playing WoW and more time trying discover the meaning of the word 'homosexual'", I feel inclined to point out that the forum-dwellers most likely spend more time trolling threads than shredding Trolls. That is, they spend less time in Azeroth than the rest of us, and spend more time roaming "teh internets" in search of poor, helpless letters to corrupt, contorting them into little groupings that appear to be words, but are in fact small, digital idols to Satan himself. This may surprise you, but if you think Barrens chat was rough, or if you have trouble dealing with the LFG channel, then spend some time in the WoW Forums. It may just make you shit your socks and cry your own blood.
Sorry, I went off on a rant there. I'm in a creative writing class right now, and it's made me a bit too wordy. The point is, the people on the forums spend more time there than in the game itself, which may lead to skewed views of the game, as in Ninjapirate's case. To say he has received "at least 6 random tells" is a clear exaggeration or misconception, one easily avoided by...oh, I don't know, playing the game? (im a guy btw)

I dunno about outrageous responses.... Aor and Seuirs seem to be right on target.

Normally I would refrain from making two posts on the same subject at all costs, but I feel this is important enough, and needs to be mentioned.

Aw man,
So the first time I see my realm on this site it has to be from a moron! Really Kirin Tor is a great realm, full of friendly and helpful people. I have a male main and a femail alt that is in the mid 20's and I have never had an experience like this. The conversations usually run from how long you been playing to what part of the country do you live in, never "hey sexy" or crap like that.

I'm kinda confused... perhaps the guys sending you tells just assume you're female because your toon is (misguided, but not impossible, I'm a female who plays female characters almost exclusively)... so why would this make them homosexual?
However, I have noticed I get hit on a lot more on my gnome than on my nelf.
Prauche Oct 27th 2006 10:17AM
This reminds me of something we should all keep in mind: MMORPG = Many Men Online Role Playing Girls
....I read that somewhere once....
Cannibull Oct 27th 2006 10:24AM
Both my main and my primary alt (highest level) are both male, as am I. I do have two lower level female alts that I play fairly frequently and have never had anyone hit on me. Though I have a funny feeling the names might have something to do with it.
Female troll hunter: Dashocka
Female UD 'lock: Olestinkeye
:D

There's two possibilities.
1) The guy's an idiot
2) It's one of the finest displays of ironic humor I've seen in a long time
I'm leaning towards (2) right now.
ninjapirate Oct 27th 2006 1:05PM
no offense, ok, im the OP from the original. im not frum kirantor or whatever it is. Go to arthas and see what i mean. to increae your chance of getting hit on, join a n00bish guild with abbout 15-20 active players, none that you know irl. no offnse
Magnarussa Oct 27th 2006 2:27PM
Ok, so I am a chick in RL and I play ALL female characters AND I play on Kirin Tor. I have NEVER been treated like that. I have never received any tells that are sexual in any nature. I also have several alts (all female) on other servers and have not had a problem on those servers either. This person is obviously delusional thinking that just because he is a male playing a female character that any tell from somebody just saying hello or asking for help on a quest has some hidden sexual intention. Grow up and get a life moron!
ninjapirate Oct 27th 2006 3:17PM
to magnarussa:
read the OP plz for the lyfe of me. im not getting just tells to ask for help. im getting tells that begin with Hey baby or hey sexy. believe me i get tells all the time on my other characters that are normal. its these tells that stand out. also read the post above yours, i said on arthas not kriantor. if u ask me ur just a fat jealous slob living off of mcdonalds, cuz ur a female and ur not getting any males hitting on u. if u wuld have asked politely, maybe i would have redirected my male callers to u, but now, u can forget abnout it.
Steel Oct 27th 2006 3:30PM
I'm not on either of the two servers that have been mentioned in connection to "Ninjapirate." However, I do play a female human warrior and a female night elf rogue. I have never recieved any tells or whispers of a sexual nature in my months of playing.
And before I get slammed in the same vein that Magnarussa did, I would like to assure Ninjapirate that I am a female player, I have a steady boyfriend with an M.D. (who plays with me), I'm 5'8"/125 lbs, a dancer, and have done both acting and modeling work. Yes, I am a hot gamer girl (I also play table-top RPGs). No, you cannot have me.
Not that any of that matters, because Warcraft is a game in which no other players can see my physical appearance! But despite that small detail, should I be insulted that I haven't gotten complimentary sexy tells?

ur bio is not needed cuz it doesnt matter when were ingame playing wow. anybody is anybody. mag merely got slammed cuz she wanted to.
apparntly this whole topic is being blown out of proportion. the op was merely just a random oocurence that keep happening to me and i was just wondering if it happended a lot to others as well. ive been playing this game for 1.5 yrs, and in a matter of 5hrs(ingame hrs) i got so many tells it was ridiculous. keep in mind nobody knows i am on this character besides myself. that is all.

Just so y'all know, I'm tending back towards (1) now...

All I can say is.....oh my....
That is one of the reasons that I tend to avoid the main community forums...
