That was amazingly good. Kudos to them.

Yeah GG, very nice. It's rare to see that kinda goodness without any voice. or subtitles.

Anyone else notice that they have cool projected-like shadows, instead of the standard round blob?
I'm wondering how they did that. Is there some sort of config file tweak or something?

Amazing.
Thats all I can say

Ummm...I'm sorry but how is this the winner?
If you're going to make a movie with no dialogue, you need two things.
Dramatic music that fits the mood. Check.
Facial expressions. NOPE.
I actually laughed in some parts because of the total lack of facial expressions. The characters have the same face whether they're making out on the beach, getting captured by evil demon trolls, having an epic sword fight or getting blown up by a fireball.
My other problem is that all of the "runner up" videos that I have seen have been parodies or funny movies. And now this one wins? After about the tenth close-up shot of a blank face, I lost interest. I'm getting tired of seeing emotes too. Just my two cents. The music was pretty good though. I'm pretty disappointed though.

um, it's Stanford University.

It was well done, but not in the correct medium. The above poster was correct, the lack of facial expression, dialogue, and restriction to common emotes made it very difficult to take seriously.

What happened to "Illegal Danish?"
Last years winner ended with "to be continued..."
Did they ever make the second part?
I don't think any of this years winners were as good as last year.

The second part of "Illegal Danish," entitled "Escape from Orgrimmar" was supposed to be released in fall of this year. There is a trailer out, but the full version hasn't appeared: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BwhCFiOM-k

I have to agree with Andrew, and after watching various short films on youtube, this one lacked what so many of those had....emotion. I really don't understand how this one is the winner. For a better short film that is similar to this one, but actually has some emotion involved, watch the one called Here Without You, just browse that and world of warcraft on youtube....way better!

this was stupid

Yeah, I was sorta bummed that Illegal Danish didn't make it into this years contest. It woulda blown away alot of the other enteries. I'm still not sure how some of the finalists made it to the top 5. Where there really so many that just were that bad?
I laughed at the 1st place winner, for the lack of emotion as well. Didn't seem like 1st place material to me.
I liked The Brothers Tauren 2 out of all of the finalists. Gotta love the randomly powerful guy.
Ryan Davidson Oct 31st 2006 1:45PM
Agreed, Illegal Danish trounces all of this years entries.
