WoW Moviewatch: Soloing Scholomance
My priest has, in the past, done the first few pulls of Scholomance alone or with a friend in order to farm bone fragments, but I never made it past that four monster pull at the bottom of the first flight of stairs. This video, however, inspires me to try harder -- It's apparently doable.

Convenient camera changes and skipping parts of the fight. Looks like a total setup to me.

first off the video is almost 30 minutes, if you were going to fake something like this you wouldnt make a huge video. it looks fairly obvious that this person is either not in a group or has hidden party icons, on a second look there are NO FREINDLY MARKS ON THE MINI MAP!!! meaning he was all alone, i wish he hadnt faded in and out like he did. but had he not it would be terribly boring. would be a HUGE video. i believe it, i see no reason to think its fake.

Maybe because it's obvious that he can clear trash mobs and that watching it repeated would be boring?
Other than that... very nice video :D

Whenever you have a movie like this your gonna have sceptics(sp?). And I have to admit, I'm a bit sceptical myself, but it looks real enough to me. Some people just don't wanna believe its possible to solo a 5 man instance.

Just because of the time it would take to clear Scholo solo, I expect it went something like this:
1) You clear solo to the first boss
2) You kill the boss
3) You go to bed
4) Party clears through the last boss you solo'd
5) You solo to the next boss
6) You kill the boss
7) You go to bed
8) Repeat steps 4-7
Regardless, an impressive accomplishment. Way to kite!

The camera fades, because he is using the trial version of GameCam (see the GameCam logo in the viedos), which does only allow recording of a minute or so. After that you have to re-start recording.

He didn't solo this place in one session: note the UI changes threw out of the video. it keeps switching from the default UI to some custom UI. its also worth noting that there were no re pops seen in the movie. if he was moving as slow as he was, kiting bosses around like that (mostly rattlecage) there would have been 2 spider respawns during or before that fight.
so its quite possible some friends came in and helped him out with respawns/getting back to where he was. i'm also sure the author doesn't care how long it is, since he has included over 10 min of just camera crap for his audience who (prob with multi chars) have ran that place to know what it looks like.
i would rather have seen a full pull from one room rather than just snippets of different ones in it. like the first room, just show us a 1 full, uncut pull to show how you did it.
also, about the no party members thing: this thing so so cut up you can't tell how much time has passed (well, enough time for his UI to change back and forth between the custom and standard) between those 5 sec clips. if all you have is 5 sec clips, its not worth making a movie.
Kiting bosses is nothing new, so i'm saying it is possible but this video does not seem like it completed that goal.

What're those second unit frames he uses? No the default one the other. They look ftw

Well, to add to the comments already here, not only did his interface change, his spec also changes over the course of the video. You can see 'Inner focus' on his bar at times, you see him use 'Holy Nova' a lot and he's also in 'Shadowform' a lot. These three things need to be specced, and to spec them all three at a time, you would need 53 talent points. mm. Maybe he's secretly level 70 on a beta server ,)

On the video description on Google video he does comment that the video was made over the course of several days/play sessions. Also, if the video showed us the whole run, through and through, it would have ended up being four hours long... at least. :) All that kiting's got to take forever.
But still, believe it or not, but we do see him completely solo boss fights, which is rather impressive. (At least imho.)

And I thought I was cool for being able to solo Deadmines with my hunter... ;)
Varthoper Oct 29th 2006 5:43PM
I'm sorry, thats just BS, he cant do it with out a party, he probubly drops the party "Kills" the boss, the cam fades, he invites them, then boots them, then starts attacking again, its stupied.

That is a metric crap-ton of swiftness potions.
Me Oct 30th 2006 7:09PM
Really? And nobody noticed that he walks in as a dwarf and in a couple of shots he's suddenly a human female? Most notibly at about 2:10 into the video.
Super Guest Man 9000 Oct 31st 2006 5:06AM
He's a human female because he's mind controlling a mob...
Gunnar Oct 31st 2006 8:26AM
#14....do you even play WoW?
Seriously, it is called mind control.
I don't care whether he faked it or not.....great video. I know that my priest can solo Scholo when I am 70 at least.
necropunk Nov 6th 2006 12:31PM
there are several videos of people soloing scholo, the best one i have seen is a warlock, i dont have a link but you can probably find it via google, it was called solomance, very very good video
