More on cities and guild recruitment

I always enjoy my time at AFK Gamer, and today I checked out the site and really enjoyed both of their posts...
- After our conversation about city layouts, I thought I should bring this to your attention. It is a plan by Foton which lays out the perfect MMORPG city. The man likes his mailboxes. And it would make the easiest to navigate city of all time.
- I leveled up with some of the guys who founded Blue Forge Fire over on Bloodhoof. Good people, a little too casual for me, but I always enjoyed guild chat. Well, Mike will be disappointed that they didn't send their recruiting video to GuildWatch, as it is rather creative and kind of funny in a geeky sort of way. But they did send it to AFK Gamer, and via those folks I will bring it to you (mild, mild language):

Ugh - people need to stay away from circular layouts. It's one of the most difficult shapes to navigate because you have no reference point other than the center. That's what makes UC so tough to figure out when you're new to it - that and all the twisty stairways.

Oooh. Perfect mailbox placement. But I think you forgot one thing: you need an area for all of the town’s quest NPCs to gather in. That way you can get all of your quest stuff in town out of the way at once and not have to wander around looking for yellow dots on your minimap.

Even better, just put one NPC in per town. That way you never have to remember where the trainers, bankers, vendors or quest people are, because they're all the same person!
Love the video, too. Pointing to the wedding ring is classic.

The layout of Mos Eisley in SWG is a bit like that. Shame Sony filled it with too many useless structures which then made an otherwise good layout impossible to navigate.
Some of the other original cities (as opposed to the player cities) were quite easy to navigate as well, but also suffered from having too many useless building in them.
