Pardon me, but do you speak Darnassian?

Ishnu-dal-dieb, dear readers. But I am here to offer you the chance of a lifetime to learn the language of the Night Elves in the form of this phrase guide. Being the geek that I am, I can only wish it were more comprehensive -- nothing's more entertaining than insulting your foes in a language they can't quite comprehend. However, this guide is just a small part of a larger effort by Blizzard to create a comprehensive Warcraft Encyclopedia chronicling the lore of Azeroth. It is only a work in progress thus far, and hardly comprehensive -- focusing mainly on the various Elven races of Azeroth. It's a good compilation of resources so far, and I imagine it will only grow -- so take a look and learn more on the lore of Azeroth.

I think there should be a way to learn other languages in game. We all start out with our native language and the factions main language. (300 Points in each) but if there where a way to learn the different languages that would be cool, even if it was some extensive quest line.

Woah that guide is cool, I always wondered what some of those phrases meant, like Ishnu Daldieb, I hope they make guides for Orcish and other languages.
How do you say murloc dumpling in night elf?!

I would be thrilled just to learn another language that the same faction spoke... like having my human learn Darnassian, or Dwavish, or having my Orc learn Taurahe.
As for them putting together the Warcraft Encyclopedia (Encyclopedia Azerothica?), I'm totally behind it, as a Lore Fan. Finally a definitive source for lore. Instead of people blindly stabbing in the dark, we have it there, in black and white. ^^b

I agree with Michael. It would be a nice bonus to those who work hard enough to become exalted with a different race. Even if there was a short quest chain and a small payment, say 100g, it would be worth it to add more depth to a character. Not to mention more incentive to get exalted other than a cross-faction mount.

Imagine the amount of people trying to actually learn these languages to try and talk to the opposite faction.... Live long and prosper!
