Around Azeroth: Moon over the Wetlands

Pahonix of Arthas sent in this shot -- and if you've played for very long, then chances are you can recognize it without me telling you where it came from. Yep -- it's the Wetlands. No other zone has trees with that same odd shape. And the gigantic moon in the background -- I'm sure if you ran into Arathi (the next zone over) it wouldn't look like that. (Perhaps there's a troop of Gnomes out on the coast holding up a huge magnifying glass to make it look that way?)
Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? Tell us about it by e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com! You can attach a picture file or send us a link to one -- and don't worry about formatting, we'll take care of that part. If yours isn't posted immediately, don't fret! Shots are posted (more or less) in the order received, and yours will come up eventually.

Great shot! One request from either Insider staff or the Around Azeroth submitters: can we get these shots with better quality compression? It looks like these were compressed as JPGs with quality set at 70 or so; if we could get 90+, I'd definitely be grabbing these as wallpapers. As it stands right now, the compression is a little bit of an eye-sore.
Great stuff, keep 'em coming, just maybe clean them up just a touch. Thanks!

they always look great to me! you have to make sure you enlarge the image or yes it does look funny...IE and Firefox automatically shirnk the image to fit the window.

Just go there and take the Screenie yourself, that way you can customize it to have the specific tree you like in it or whatever. Also you'll be prouder cause it was your own work :)

Great eye you've got, Bollenator! You're right, I do tend to compress all of the images as JPGs at 80% quality -- which gives a reasonable visual quality for the file size (and is usually more than good enough for the thumbnail images usually put up with posts). It hadn't crossed my mind to change my standard options for the higher rez Around Azeroth shots -- loading speed matters less than graphical quality for them. Of course, sometimes I get images that are already compressed -- and this shot was one of them. I don't think the original image was higher quality than what I ended up posting.
However, I will post full size Around Azeroth images at higher quality in the future.
