Breakfast Topic: Favorite Class
Well, this is more of a brunch topic than a No, I'm not asking about the most powerful class, the most versatile class, or the least likely to die class -- I'm asking what your favorite class to play is, which may not be any of those. I'm sure everyone does have a favorite for their own reasons... perhaps it's that one skill you can't live without, or perhaps you get some special glee from tanking or healing (or letting people die). For myself, my favorite remains the priest. It may be a sign of a masochistic streak, but I really enjoy healing a group, and priests have a very versatile set of healing options. But what about you? Have you picked a favorite? Hate the class you're raiding with but thinking about another? Can't stop switching between alts? Chime in and let us know!

Rogue.
I've played WoW since beta. 2 hunters, a paladin, a priest, a shaman - all 60 and nicely geared. I raid with a Paladin in full Judgement.
A few weeks ago I started playing with some RL friends, and the group needed some DPS, so I made a rogue. Now I know why every guild is full on rogues. This is the game on easy mode, where you see huge numbers in damage for very little effort.
My level 44 rogue is now doing more damage than my full Judgement, Herald of Woe wielding paladin.
Don't nerf rogues, Bliz, just buff everyone else.

Warrior is my favorite so far, able to use all kinds of weapons, heavy cool looking armor, different roles to play.
Rogue 2nd (lvl 30) may change:)

For raiding, definitely my priest. It's almost never boring and I feel like I'm helping other people.
For PvP, I prefer my hunter so far (gonna be rolling a BE rogue for the expansion so that will probably change) mainly cause I like shooting people. In the face.
Two characters for two different playstyles :) Deathsquad assemble!

I'm gonna agree with Paulie; rogue for me too, despite my warr, priest, shaman, warlock, and hunter alts.
[Near] zero downtime, since we have no mana, and stealth is something I don't take for granted, especially in pvp. And having stealth kinda suits my loner self. With a click of a button, I'm gone from the world. I'm used to being invisible anyway...

I'd have to say Druid.
Its my only lvl 60 character but the fact that they're a jack of all trades means I can always find some place for me in a raid. Im currently lvling a mage, rogue and priest and i'd have to say that the priest is definately 2nd for me (although that may change the more i play with my rogue).

Priest all the way. I started playing WoW back in January of this year. I started at the same time as one of my IRL friends. He wanted to be a warrior, and since I figured we'd do a lot of stuff together I decided to go with a priest. I figured that'd be the best possible support class in the situation.
Because I was new to the game, MMOs, and really, RPGs in general, I didn't think much of my choice. But since I've rolled a few alts, and I always come back to my (shadow) priest.

I have played every single class in WoW for almost every single races - lol! I have troulbe sticking with character - until now that is. Warlocks are the best for me (especially now that I have respec'd Afflication). I can sole, am useful in instances and raids...can take out 5 guy my own lvl. I LOVE IT!!! And they changes they are making in BC are going to make warlocks much better. I even have decent DPS with a high lvl wand. :-D

I've been a rogue since table top DnD games (20+ years). I love the class and I love what WoW has done with it (for the most part). I love raiding and PvPing with my rogue. Sure, i have alts... but i can't play them for long w/out missing my rogue.

In this order:
1. Paladin
2. Shaman
3. Hunter
4. Rogue
5. Priest
6. Warrior
7. Warlock
8. Mage
9. Druid

I love my rogue, but I think there's a massive difference between levelling a rogue, and raiding with a rogue once it's 60. Their damage doesn't scale as well as other classes (caster with increasing +spell dmg, healers with always increasing +heal gear, warriors and hunters with always more +agi/+str, etc). Itemization is horrible for raiding rogues, it's very frustrating; take for example the differences between tier 1, tier 2 and AQ40 gear, there's barely any. Their melee weapons have higher damage the further they go, that's the only real upgrade they ever get.
Yeah, I know, rogues are such whiners, QQ some more and all that. :P
I love my lv60 priest these days though, he's specced shadow all the way and does a nice job in the BGs; furthermore, I dig that he can heal somewhat adequately if needed in dungeons; the flexibility of that class, coming from a rogue, is simply awesome to me (I guess druids work that way too).

Rogue is definitely easiest -- you can make a macro and basically keep mashing it -- but I love the gameplay of a warlock much more.

My favorite class is the Priest by far. It's everyone's best friend in groups, very good in PVP, and it's not bad at all in solo. I feel like if I do something usefull in groups. It's also more chalanging that clicking the same button for 4 hours in a row in instances. I can get out of almost any situation alive, and in most cases killing all my opponents (PVE) or at least pissing them off (PVP).
I like to play mage too... just because I like the style. But now that I see lots of people that loves the Rogue, I might give it another try, although I think there is too many of them and they are not as fun to play in groups as my priest.

Interesting to see that I'm the first to say Warrior.
I'm really only a newbie, I've got a lvl 31 mage, and some sub-10 alts, cuz I couldn't decide. Recently I re-rolled a warrior, and I love it. Easy to solo with, and even more fun in a group setting. I've you've never tried being a tank, I reccomend giving it a whirl. Its quite a rush, knowing that many characters lives depend on whether or not you can hold that aggro. Plus, we take damage like a champ!
But, you also got to make a shout out to the healers, that make a tanks life possible. :-D

In my experience its a tie between rogue and shadow priest; both super awesome.
Zghuk Nov 10th 2006 1:21PM
I have played mage, hunter, paladin, druid, priest, rogue and warlock and my favorite is the HUNTER.
It's not "the best class". The best class is IMHO the mage because of max. damage, crowd control, buffs and his big plus of making water and bread. Blizzard gave this class IMHO too much useful things.
Hunter is a class where you arent reliant on someone, you have your pet, strong melee and distance skills and feign death, the best skill of the hunter :)
Paladins are ok, medium damage, medium heal, medium fun. I wish they coul tank like a shaman ;)
Rogue is the coolest class, you are the initiator of fights, your damage in groups or raids can be enormous with good weapons and you can solo many situations in WoW :)
To be a good priest you have to have much patience and a thick hide. Blizzard hates them, there are nothing without a group, so most of priests I know have twinks or surrender with this class.
Druids are cool, too. Very strong supporter class and in pvp combats/bgs terrific! But I dont think Blizzard honored this hybride class. If you are only a raid healer, you castrate your class! Druids should not have the same damageoutput like rogues but even heal druid should have some more fighting skills and power. Hybride skillung is very problematic in the Endgame...
Warlocks... Yes, there can be great damage dealers and be a great support for every group, but I think in compare with mages they lose! You will never so good for groups like mages. You support groups very well, you are versatile, but a standard group should every time have a warrior, a healer and a mage... not a warlock... that's the problem...

I really have enjoyed playing a paladin since beta. Sure there have been some revamping as well as ups and downs over the years, but overall nothing as been too drastic to make them no fun. I especially love the fact that they can really go it alone from a very early start. Slow... possibly. Gear dependant... most deffinately. Damn best hybrid class in the game... you damn right they are!!!

"Don't nerf rogues, Bliz, just buff everyone else."
QFT
I got my mage to sixty and played then rolled a rogue. I have a few blues; mostly greens and cannot beleive the damage difference compared to my mage. they are supposed to be the DPS classes of the game but my favorite is the rogue simply cause I can't raid day in and day out for +damage for my mage.
I love my rogue it's the closest for me to get to the D2(hack and slash) style of play.
Samidare Nov 10th 2006 1:31PM
Hunter... plain and simple.
I have a 2 60 mages, 2 60 rogues and have played a warrior, druid, lock, and shammy to the 30s and 40s. But none of them compared to the fun I have with my hunter.
She is retired now. But between the pulling for the raid group. Saving the squishies from certain death with my pet taunting, a well timed scatter or distracting shot, or my good fd/trap skills... made me feel like I was doing more then just being another dps in the raid or group. I was survival spec so I tanked mobs(Luci a few times)when the tank got mind controlled or feared, until he was able to come pick it back up.
In pvp the class owns. Other then soul-linked or the lollercoil warlocks, I decimated people. Not just cheap ass "let me sit back 41 yards and snipe people" but in your face 1200+ raptor strikes on mages who decided to "deadzone" after catching a scatter shot mid cast. I have an orc, so i would switch in my 2 hander and pop blood fury when it came to melee. My slacker friend has a hunter as well, so it was double trouble when we did pvp.
And in pve, it was a blast being able to take on things that i couldn't as a rogue or mage, let alone most other classes. I died a lot but the challenge and the ability to say "yeah, I solo'd that" was worth it.
Gog Nov 10th 2006 1:30PM
Shadow-Priest, no doubt about it. It's a very nice switch to see Horde running from me. I'm used to them falling over each other to see who gets to kill my Mage first.
I do love how my Mage burns/freezes enemies down in instances, but give me a shadow-priest any day of the week to take over minds, mana burn, and generally melt peoples faces all over the place.
Jamus Nov 10th 2006 1:57PM
I have yet to try a Warrior, but so far...
DRUID!
I like being able to switch between play styles: warrior, rogue, priest, kooky underwater seal monster...
After my treehugger, I would have to say Hunter and Priest.
