More extended server downtime
The good news? Looks like Blizzard is upgrading a couple dozen servers for the Burning Crusade expansion. The bad news? It appears the servers will be down for extended maintenance, as has been the pattern for the past couple of months. If you happen to play on any of the servers below, you will be offline from November 14th at 5 AM PST until November 15th at 5 PM PST:Aerie Peak, Altar of Storms, Anvilmar, Blackwing Lair, Deathwing, Demon Soul, Doomhammer, Gnomeregan, Icecrown, Jaedenar, Kel'Thuzad, Lethon, Onyxia, Sentinels, Tanaris, The Venture Co, Uldaman, Undermine
Don't worry, you can still play alts or grief other servers tomorrow night if you so choose. Or perhaps avoid WoW entirely! Your family misses you.

On Eldre Thalas been through this "server upgrade" and remember reading it would take care of the "Q's" which were getting outta control with 1/2 hour lines and sometimes getting booted back out at login. Just try to set up a 40 man raid with this going on. Well guess what I was in a 800+ person Q the other night and yes it was only a 15 minute wait but this is before the Xmas crush we have all experienced in the last 2 years and when Burning Crusade comes out it'll only get worse. So yeah its just a game and I could go elsewhere but why can't a real fix be found? To me 7 million times 15 bucks is no game anymore its a business. Just my 2 cents. Good luck to all.

On Silver Hand server the upgrades definately improved overall lagging issues though I do see some high latency from time to time. The queue's however are something entirely different and not related to these upgrades. Near as I can tell we're seeing an upsurge in people returning to WoW in preparation of the expansion and we are also approaching the Winter holidays - we'll see more weekday and morning people shortly. All in all though, I'm very glad Blizz is doing these upgrades. SH had been suffering nearly 1.5 years on the old, original hardware from Beta.

I really hope that things improve for those of you on the affected servers. I play mainly on Thunderhorn, and when we were brought down, everything was amazing for a while. There was no more loot lag, instance and world lag were a thing of the past, zoning was fast, it was just nice.
Lately though we've been having a bit more lag, and now we have queues, though we never had them before. Weren't the server upgrades supposed to allow tons more players on at one time?
