GuildWatch: A Humble Request

Tuesday night means maintenance is (most likely) over, and it's time once again for your weekly look at guild drama, downings, and recruiting from around the realms.

Every week, GuildWatch asks for your help-- it's your submissions to wowguildwatch@gmail.com that keep our column rolling with news, so if you've got some drama, a kill, or are recruiting (we especially want to hear about the recruiting, as this week we're a little low), please let us know. But this week we have another request, too, for the artistic types out there. Click the link below for details, and this week's GW.

DRAMA
  • Another incident of instance stealing: Forgotten Heroes and a few other guilds on Andorhal-A cleared most of ZG, when members of Apex started joining the raid and wiping the other players in the instance. After those players quit the raid (because they didn't want to get killed), Apex allegedly went on and finished off Hakkar (with, I laugh, 3 hours and 6 resets before they could down him). Basically, they bullied the other guilds out of the PUG's instance and took the place for themselves. A quote from one of Apex's members: "This instance belongs to Apex now." You guys sound like jerks-- find your own Hakkar.
  • Rumor is that Red Branch on Gorgonnash-A invited a few puggers to their Naxx raid, but then considered them, without any indication, off-limits for loot. That's like asking your friends to help you move, and then drinking beer in front of them without offering any. Solution: stay away from Red Branch raids.
  • Ninja Alert: Crims, a hunter on Rexxar-A. Rumor has it he used to be on Feathermoon.
  • Centerfold, GM of Voodoo on Wildhammer-A decided to disban the entire guild of 35 people the other night-- and he took the entire guild bank (500g worth of mats, countless numbers of AQ scarabs, ZG idols, and MC mats) with him. If you see him around the server, say his former guildies, gank him. Gank him good.
  • RS on LJ dropped out of her guild because they took in an admitted eBay account buyer. Now, sounds like her guild had other issues (they wanted her to play more than she was able), but would you quit your guild if you found out they were willingly accepting purchased accounts and/or gold buyers? Overrated got permabanned for cheating, and in my eyes, gold buying and account buying is cheating, too.
  • A couple of people dropped notes about my use of the term "Public Raiding Group" to describe the Leftovers on Silver Hand last week. They're basically what I thought they were-- groups of people in different or no guilds who get together to raid the bigger instances every week. Inside the group, they form "strike teams" that work as raiding groups on a specific progression. It's a great idea, and something that's formed completely outside of Blizzard's definition of "guilds." More info, I'm told, is on their website.
DOWNED
  • Oathsworn on Azjol-Nerub-A finished Chromaggus, to celebrate their 2 month anniversary in BWL. Grats, guys!
  • Knights of the Dark Renown on Kaz'goroth-H have been downing all kinds of bosses, but they wanted to brag that they got both Bindings of the Windseeker in one MC run. Grats, but you really suck (I haven't seen one drop yet, sad I know).
  • Disciples of Carnage and Einherjar (both Duskwood-H) venture into MC with 38, and finished off Luci, Magmadar, and Gehennas. Rock on!
  • Victory or Whatever (winner of this week's WoW Insider Best Guild Name award-- this is the one we need a logo for, see below) downed Razergore for the first time, and were so pumped that they owned Raggy and Ony later that night too.
  • Dark Dream on Burning Blade-A rocked BWL, one shotting everyone up to Chromaggus (picture above). I'm told Nef is next (if they haven't finished him already).
RECRUITING (just two guilds sent news in this week-- if you're recruiting, let us know!)
  • Shaman Order of the Wolf is recruiting on Ravenholdt (faction?). They want warriors, mages, and priests especially, but they'd like all classes anyway. /w Quickhoof ingame to introduce yourself.
  • Hellbent on Undermine-H is recruiting casual, fun players. They're looking for maturity specifically, but even if you like fart jokes (and who doesn't, really), their GM asks you to look them up.
So you may have noticed that for a few weeks now, GuildWatch has been honoring a guild mentioned here with our WoW Insider Best Guild Name award-- it's an informal title that we grant (informally) to the guild whose name piques our curiosity (or, usually, our funny bone) every week. And this past week, I had an idea that only you, dear reader with some l33ter photoshop skillz than I, can help me with.

I'd like someone to make a little graphic or logo (doesn't have to be too big, shouldn't be too small) that stands as an award for the WoW Insider Best Guild Name of the week. If you make it as a graphic, I'll let the guild that wins the award every week (again, informally-- I pick whatever one I fancy the most) post the graphic on their site as a little bragging right that they were pretty witty in picking out the name of their group.

Unfortunately, I don't have any way to reward you for making this graphic for us, but I can promise a) a mention to the guild of your choice in an upcoming GuildWatch, and b) my undying gratitude, and that of all the guilds who have and will ever win this award and want to brag about it. Send your entries to wowguildwatch@gmail.com (the same address to send submissions to GW, yes) and if we get one that looks neat in the next week or so (did I mention this is very informal?), I'll thank you wholeheartedly, and guilds who win the award will be able to use it on their site. Thanks in advance, we'll see you next week on GW.
