Unlisted 2.0.1 changes
And now it's time for the 2.0.1 changes that didn't quite make it into the patch notes, courtesy of the World of Raids forums. I've listed the interesting ones, but if you're the sort that needs every last detail, hop on over to the complete list at World of Raids.- Escape artist is now an instant cast.
- Blood Fury also increases spell damage depending on your class. Increases ranged and melee damage for hunters.
- The Looking For Group Channel has been removed.
- The Quest log has been expanded to hold 25 quests.
- All hunter pets have been normalized to a 2.0 speed. *unconfirmed*
- Warlock's Spellstones and Firestones can be equipped in the Wand slot.
- Many profession that used to require a recipe, plan, etc, to learn are now trainable by the corresponding profession trainer. (No, we don't have any details on which.)
- Spells automatically update on your action bar when new ranks are purchased.
- A hunter's Arcane Shot benefits more from ranged attack power. *unconfirmed*
- Four new bank slots! And an extra bag slot that costs 25g to purchase.
- New quests have been added throughout the zones. Including various Draenei and Blood Elf camps.
- Many new items have been added to various vendors, including jewelcrafting plans.
- All class specific spell books that previously dropped in dungeons are now trainable at level 60.
- Players can change their title from a drop down menu to show their highest PvP rank next to their name.

Nice an extra bag slot! Hope it's available at lv 1.

"All class specific spell books that previously dropped in dungeons are now trainable at level 60"
im looking at the Mage training screen and the AQ20 ranks of fireball, arcane missle, and Frostbolt still require 62

Woooo! No more LFG spam!
Also, Firestone in the wand slot... *scratches chin*
I may actually buy the firestone ability to try that out.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

The extra bag slot is available from level one, and its cheaper: 25 for the last bagslot. And you will need it for the extra crap you find in BC.
"A hunter's Arcane Shot benefits more from ranged attack power. *unconfirmed* "
Thats confirmed. Hunters need to relearn, aimed shot is an opener and is difficult to cast in combat now. Its being replaced with a new ability (level 67 trainable).
Arcane makes as much damage as autoshot now and is very powerful. This with multishot makes most shots from a hunter instant casts. This means a different playstyle (and IMBA for PvP)

LOL... They killed my pet... Where is the use of differents pets (cats, bears, boars, spiders), if they do all the same?
Vaelin Nov 16th 2006 8:21AM
My Bloodseeker Bat from ZG is still showing 1.00 for its attack speed on the character sheet.

here is confirmation on the hunter pet normalization.

My 60 hunter welcomes this change. I don't really like cats, and i hate the size of the bats, so i'm happy to have the opportunity to pick a different pet and still be as effective in pvp.

Well, I've searched around and I'm unable to find any proof of this
Patch notes...
- All of the profession-made items that have been created up to now have been given proper stats based on the current expansion item level progression table.
Anyone? I managed to even get on test.. and no luck

I am absolutely disgusted at this latest nerf of the hunters.
The whole point of cats being faster is that they give out higher dps but have corresponding negative attributes like lower hits and armour.
Bears are good all-rounders with average dps/hits/armour
And things like turtles, scorpids are tanks with high armour, average hits.
Without replacing the nerfing of the cats speed with greater damage I'm afraid it will be an out-and-out nerf leaving the cat as an absolutely useless pet

Frakin awsome changes to bank slots and stuff. it will help, but it is a little bit too late for a lot of us.
Sylythn Nov 16th 2006 1:25PM
@2 - Don't forget the spellstone is now far more useable as it removes only negative magic effects. Spell crit bonus plus a wipe/dispell...now that might become my new standard.
Jelement Nov 16th 2006 1:37PM
For #10, the faster attack speed of cats does not mean they have higher DPS.
As a faithful owl and boar user, I could care less about the 2.0 pet speed normalization...except that now a bunch more people will be running around with some of the pets you don't generally see too often.
Snaggletuf Nov 19th 2006 3:13AM
I like the idea of extra bank slots and bag slot, does that mean someone who has bought all of the slots will have the cheaper bag slot for free? About the pet speed adjustment, that doesn't make sense to me cause what is the point of wasting a week for Broken Tooth to spawn?
Shat Nov 16th 2006 3:52PM
Guys, "Normalization" doesn't mean DPS nerf. Cats will still have higher DPS than bears, they'll just attack at the same speed.
Unkle Nov 17th 2006 7:13AM
attacking at a slower speed kills a huge part of their viability. (INTERRUPTING CASTERS)
Brommon Nov 16th 2006 7:43PM
Yes, to expound on #14's point - DPS remains the same for all pets, but their attack SPEED has been reduced, which has meant an increase to actual attack POWER for any pets whose speed went down. (So that they do the same DPS in the end.) Cats have higher DPS than crabs. (or bears, or owls, or - well, anything that's not a raptor) Always have, always will.
This really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who min/maxes their pet speed and follows the way hunter pet stats are calculated. Even before this patch, any two cats, even with different attack speeds, would still have the same DPS. The one with a higher attack speed didn't do more damage, he just hit faster. And subsequently, he did less damage with each hit, so that the DPS came out the same for both pets in the end. This has just removed that attack speed factor altogether.
I don't LIKE it, mind you, since I kind of enjoyed stalking rarer or faster-attack pets. (Or slower-attack pets, if my strategy ran that way.) But this isn't the titanic pet UBERNERF that people seem to want to make it out to be. This patch still goes a HUGE way towards making pets MORE powerful, what with the new Beast Mastery tree and pets scaling with gear. And THAT, I'm all for.

I'm surprised that no one has squealed with glee over the professions! I'm a tailor, and yeesh, getting patters after your skill hits 260 is a major pain in the butt - along with your gold count.
I wouldn't mind paying a trainer for the patterns - becuase then I know what someone wouldn't be marking up the patterns for pure profit.
Ldawg Nov 17th 2006 5:27PM
Agreed. I camped Brokentooths spawn for 3 weeks because hes the only cat with 1.0 attack speed. If they take the variety out of pets attack speed it makes hunter pets boring. And everyone knows what to expect from a pet, 2.0 attack speed. Beastmastery hunters will no longer own mages. :-(
Kanj Nov 20th 2006 10:58PM
Its not the dps with pets for hunters. Its all about the atck speed. I dont really care for dps but the speed is wat makes us take down casters. 2.0 atck speed basically makes us vulnerable to casters
