Breakfast Topic: The worst thing about being a....
Sure, we all picked our classes for a reason -- perhaps they're the most fun to play, or perhaps they're the most powerful in PvP, or perhaps they've got the best group utility. But no one class is perfect -- no, not even warlocks -- and we all have things we love and hate about our class of choice. As a priest, for me, it's always being expected to heal -- including when I'm out of mana, when I'm sitting down drinking, when I'm not grouped with you, when I'm healing someone else, when I'm dead... Oh, sure, I really do play a priest to heal, but sometimes people's expectations (and the blame that follows) are outrageous! So what do you find to be the worst aspect of your own class? Hunter,Playing a battleground, shooting some warrior or some guy, and BAM, hit from behind by some rogue, Stun, dmg dmg dmg, stun, crippling posion, Stun, dmg dmg dmg, Ouch dead.
And then theres the difficulty of competing for a good group with all the other hunter and rogue classes to fill the meaningless DPS spot, sucks

As a mage, the thing I absolutely hate is the constant downtime. Generally, I spend more time drinking than I do fighting.
I guess one of the conditions for being a mage is to have a huge bladder. All that water and no bathroom breaks....

@2 until they make the "pissing" emote
I don't like how there are SOOOO many rogues! WHen I first started playing, I wanted to play a rogue cuase I play a rogue-like character in every rpg I ever play. Rogue, bandit, assassin... those kinds of things
but I was really hesitant to play a rogue in WoW cause there are SOOOO MANY *thats what my friends said, and they were right*
oh, and a solo rogue's lack of ability in taking more than one mob

As a mage, the most annoying thing is how everyone expects you to be a publicly available Vending Machine. Unless you're in my party, then no food/water for you.
That and the constant tells begging for Portals from lowbies. >_

Being a Priest, and waving around the big bright "COME KILL ME STICK" aka, Benediction. Nothing says "Kill the Healer First" in a BG like that glowing advertisement strapped to my back.

well I am a mage also...what I hate the most, besides the water thing, is the fact that I can ONLY wear cloth....I mean come on....cant mages at least wear leather too....

Blowing through an entire stack of Quail to keep my pet happy during raids

I'd have to say the worst thing about locks is an almost complete lack or healing combined with spells that effectively force you to life tap, can leave you pretty drained and vulnerable after a few encounters in PvP, Also that locks have no slows or stuns, when I see a warrior coming at me when I don't have my succy out then the best I can do is try a fear and/or deathcoil and run.

huh
sorry bout that massive sentence, I geuss my grammar isn't too good right after I wake up :P

Warlock - the uselessness of fire/spell stones. Of course TBC is going to fix this...personally, I expect my lock to transcend to Nirvana once the expansion hits. /grin

@6 The lack of an instant cast oh s**t button is pretty annoying when you need a quick escape. When you're being mobbed and need to escape in PvE Howl of Terror can be damn near impossible to get off.
Something I find annoying when I run out of shards when raiding and can't get some help to collect some. If I'm the only lock in the raid and we're trying to down Hakkar for the 3rd time then I'm going to be low on shards. I'd love to give you a healthstone but first help me kill a few Sons while we reset.
Also please don't tell me destruction locks are useless in MC. I think my shadowbolt crits disagree.

Hunter is running out of mana! telling people you have to drink is embarassing!
also when are they going to do something with pets? All they are now are (poor)tanks/dps i remember when each unique pet had an attribute that made them worth catching!
Maybe take a note from pokemon, different attributes stronger against others? that whole grid system for pets?

The worst thing about being Warlock:
Having your skilled in PvP always chalked up to "W4rl0cks r ov3rpwred".
There are some seriously crappy Warlocks out there (I know, I've fought against and with them). But when you come onto the scene with skill and start killing people, they cry "nerf fear". Get the picture, folks! Maintaining fear while killing someone is NOT easy! DoTs don't kill nearly as fast as you THINK they do! Warlocks are powerful, but they take skill and loads of practice to play well.
So stop crying foul when that Warlock keeps raping your Rogue! Go learn your own class like HE did! I've been utterly destroyed by rogues who knew what they were doing before.

As a warlock I hate when I was responsible enough to go shard farming right before a raid, and I feel pretty good because I'll have plenty for soulstones and healthstones throughout the raid....
BUT THEN invites start and people decide to just sit their butts in Stormwind or Ironforge until the last possible second, and then two minutes before first pull I'm using half of my bag of soul shards summoning people.

I'm a mage and I always will trade someone water. I played priest first as main and leveling up I hatted how I had to feel rude to ask for water. Other classes need to drink too. >.< So when I switched mains I vowed to always pass out water. As long as someone asks and I'm not busy killing a ton of alliance in BGs then I tell them sure open a trade. As if clicking my summon water spell is bearing the weight of the world.
Anyways I would say the worst thing about being a mage is how fast we go down. Hopefully the stm in TBC will help with that.

@11 its standard lore for any RPG that cloth wearing is for mages cus heavier armors such as leather and metal inhibit the ability to cast spells
Warriors are great in pve... if you have a priest.
Kyldorn Nov 20th 2006 12:11PM
I can't remember if it was my first or second toon, but my main is a Paladin. No major complaints, I think Paladin's are cool, and for soloing up to 60, I don't think you can get much better. If you play it right you are practically unkillable. Still, my biggest gripe is the lack or ranged attack. WTF, I think every other class has a ranged attack. I have never seen one reasonable explanation of why Pallys have no ranged attack.
I recently went back and did the boomerang quest line (after I was lvl 60) just so I could get something w/ a ranged attack, even if it had a long cool down.
If I saw something that explained the logic for no ranged, then I might be satisfied, but as of yet I've seen no satisfactory explanation.

/agree with 15 - casters in anything but cloth? come on.. but yeah the worst thing bout mages is being pve specced makes you pretty much useless in bg's, although i cant cry too much lest the holy priests start beating me with benediction for having it so sweet over them in pvp..
Roseroyce04 Nov 19th 2006 10:35PM
I agree with #14 even though I have limited knowledge of that, seeing as I stopped playing my lock in January of '06.
My beef with locks was being helpless to stunlocks. I've never felt that way with any other class ever. I learned to dedicate my lock to his succubus and stunlocks became obsolete.
I guess my real pet peeve is mana. Mana and I don't get along.
Vellocet Nov 19th 2006 11:31PM
Personally, I love the life of a hunter. I dinged 60 a while back, and we all know how much FUN the 60 life is! :coughcough: But that's a story for another day.
I'm personally tired of getting nerfed with half these patches.
I mean, I can deal with the downtime for mana and whatnot, but why do they have to go and gimp out our pets even more? Sure, I don't use my pet that often out of pve at 60 anymore, but its the principle of the thing.
