Around Azeroth: Dancing Troll village

Christarius of Runetotem (EU) sends in this shot of the dancing Troll village in -- I believe, technically -- Darkshore. I'm not really sure how you get there on foot as Christarius has, but it is visible from several flights connecting to Moonglade and Winterspring. The brief glance you get of the village during a flyover has always made me wonder what was really there -- after all, why would Blizzard make such an elaborate and unique area if the only real way to interact with it was via a few seconds' flyover on certain flight paths?
Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? Tell us about it by e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com! You can attach a picture file or send us a link to one -- and don't worry about formatting, we'll take care of that part.

I am definitely curious about this one. What is this village ? Why was it put into the game if its not conventionally accessible ?

hmmm, same as the mountain villages on the flight from IF to wetlands, and that dancing dwarf just north of IF where there is always a constant berage of bullets.
and of course the 20+ members of the venture co that hang around that ridge all day north of elwyn forest occassionally beating the snot out of the dragon...

Prior to the cliffwalking nerf many patches ago, you could get here, as well as the Ironforge airport, the Wetlands farms, Silithus before it was opened, ect...
Ahhh, the good old days when being an explorer could really get you somewhere.

you can still get here :) it involves a journey starting in winterspring, that takes you through the borders of felwood and darkshore, and ends with a massive base jump off a waterfall (Slow Fall, Levitate, Noggenfoggers will all do here, although youll have to pack a bunch of Noggs for the slow fall effect to come up).
It's a really cool place, and there's even 4 named NPCs there. im sure if you look it up on warcraftmovies.com, you should be able to find directions :)

A long time ago, I was able to open a portal there. I had to go throw some fireworks into a launcher at some kind of festival, and once you did a certain amount, the portal opened, and I warped there.

Ironforge Airport and the Wetlands farm are also still accessible, but the entry point has been moved. If you exit Dun Morogh into Loch Modan, go up the ravine on the left side of the exit, right behind a big tree. See the detailed writeup at http://www.wowwiki.com/Ironforge_Airport.

I remember a blue post where they admit that these kinds of locations are really only there for 'in-flight entertainment'.
