Forum Post of the Day: Please open the AQ gates...
US realm Gnomeregan is asking Blizzard to open the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj for them. Why? They're a 5 month old realm (meaning no realm transfers for another month) and, while the war effort was completed 2 months ago, no guild on the realm has downed Ragnaros yet -- and with the guild tensions caused by the coming expansion, no guild seems organized enough to get there, and the serious PvE players are transferring to greener pastures. And once the expansion hits, who is really going to be interested in doing the huge quest chain in order to open the gates? (For reference, the quest to open the gates requires a raid guild capable of clearing Blackwing Lair in fairly speedy fashion -- and no one's likely to jump from wiping on Ragnaros to clearing through Nefarian before the expansion comes out.) So will the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj simply never open on Gnomeregan?Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, Odds and ends

no, they get thier act together and open it on thier own... every other realm did.

I thought 3-6 months after the initial opening, all of them were going to be opened by GM's? Why are they still creating realms with AQ closed?

This is ridiculous. As Comic stated, everybody had to open them for themselves, so Gnomeregan should do so as well.
Furthermore, I'm sure that when the expansion hits some bored level 70s will try and open the AQ gates.

Uhhh...
Is is just me or is everyone missing the glaringly obvious position Blizzard will take in response to this?
If said guild(s) cannot even bet Ragnaros, what chance do they stand in AQ20/AQ40?
I could understand AQ20 maybe... but why do this if they haven't even proven worthy of besting the first raid instance in the game that supports 40 players? It's ridiculous and they should just quit whining and do it like everyone else had to - the right way.

The problem is probably similar to whats happening on The Venture Co. The Horde isnt bothering collecting all the supplies, while the alliiancehas been done collecting the supplies for a while now

Are you seriouse??? I would like to see these Ungeared Guilds who cant take down rag have a go AQ40! ROTFL!!!!
Its done in order of difficulty and gear progression. DO it the right way you wining bums!

I believe that only the collecting of supplies will eventually get automatically completed even if no one contributes. The quest series will not get done without player action.
I think though that some replies are valid in saying there should be no freebies for this realm. It's a rare situation that all guilds capable of opening the gates self-destructed, but as you can see from the guild recruitment and raiding forums, there is a pervading feeling that nothing is really worth it with TBC just on the horizon. Like most people on the poster's server are asking "what is the point in trying to open the gates?", they are also probably thinking "what is the point in going to Ahn'Qiraj at this stage?"

TBC won't always be new, and there will be people who want it badly enough to go for it. So you don't have it open after only 5 months online - so what? If it's that big a problem/deal to ask for the easy way out, then it's that big a problem/deal to get your acts together and form a guild that can actually complete the task. This wasn't meant to be a gimme - it was meant to require effort and commitment.

I used to play Gnomeregan. War Effort quests are definitely the best. Make grinding so much easier, as well as upping your enchanting.
It is funny that they still haven't unlocked AQ after I left three months ago. Then again, why bother really?
Gog Nov 26th 2006 7:58PM
Meh, I say they shouldn't bother with it. Who cares once BC comes out? They can always go back as 70's and open it up much much easier should they want to see the content.
I must agree with the rest of the lot... they should open it themselves, but they probably shouldn't bother wasting their time just now.
Mothra Nov 26th 2006 9:32PM
tbh its worth them doing the quest chain just so someone can look awesome on their unique bug mount.
rogue Nov 27th 2006 10:44AM
It's ok, it'll be more interesting after TBC is out and a 5-man of 70s does the whole open the gates quest line. :D

Am I the only one who sympathizes? I mean, no, of course guilds who have not completed MC yet aren't going to be able to go to AQ40, but they will be able to go to AQ20. I think what the poster was saying was that the guilds who are still intact and raiding are getting sick of ZG... and I can sympathize with that, because once you're exalted with Zandalar, I don't blame you if you don't really feel like going to the place anymore. I know the point of the gate opening quest line was to prove that there were UBER guilds capable of tackling AQ40, and that's fine, but what I don't like about it is that this quest line, a small portion of content, designed to only let a small portion of the gaming population participate in it, is barring an entire young server from gearing up inside of AQ20, which is a little harder than ZG, but a little bit easier than MC (if you can't seem to organize 40 people on a regular basis).

Hum...No get your act togheter Gnomeragan. All of our server has done his part on Magtheridon. What is the requirement for being a player on Gnomeragan? 12 years?
Come on guys you can do better than whining.
Avonturier Nov 29th 2006 10:03AM
Isn't Gnomeregan PVE? If Alliance realy wants the gates to be opened so badly, they could just farm the mats, make horde alts, put the alts in BB, transfer the farmed mats through the neutral AH and turn them in...
Addie Dec 14th 2006 1:38AM
Or, they could do what The Advent on Steamwheedle Cartel (US) did and grab a transfer with the Scepter to open the gates. :P
