Patch "Before the Storm" coming December 5th

New patch, called "Before the Storm." New PVP honor system. December 5. Confirmed.If you're still working toward a rank, better work fast. Drysc says the armor and weapons will still be around, but Blizz is basically giving players still aiming for a rank title a week's notice with this one. Rumors say that Blizzard will return the rank title system eventually, but it may not be in the same form it's in now-- all we know so far is that players will be able to show the highest rank title they earned before the patch hits. Unfortunately, I don't have much time this week, so it looks like my Shammy will be a Senior Sergeant forever.
Meanwhile, I can't wait to see the new LFG system in action, watch DHKs go bye-bye, and see how the new PVP honor points will work on the public servers, along with all the other fun stuff in this patch set to roll before the expansion in January. Next Tuesday! Can't wait!

Unclear...It's pointless to pvp this week unless you just want a name over your head...you can't purchase gear in the rank system after this.

Wow. It's not like every post on the subject says you'll be able to display your rank with an option in the ui. Nope, not at all.

Do you always read only the first half of sentences?
Specifically, there's a lot of talk about new titles for accomplishing certain things, like placing in the arena (which has been confirmed), or becoming exalted with the battlegrounds factions.

What I want to know is what is going to happen to the rank 3 vendor discount ? I still have a character that hasnt gotten rank 3 yet (Yes i know it ill take me a hand ful of games to get) and it also needs an epic mount, wouldnt be much fun to have to stump up the extra 100g on that :/

As a TBC beta tester (Level 64) and a fairly casual gamer I can tell you that the new LFG and meeting stone system is to die for.
1) It eliminates the global LFG channel which is mostly used for flame wars, trade and guild recruitment.
2) You can sign up for up to three different elite quests, dungeons and/or raids. You can turn on the auto join, go out and solo farm for a little while and the system will start matching you up with a group. No more spamming LFG channel.
3) Meeting stones at the dungeons now act as a warlock. Two members of the party standing at the meeting stone can create a portal to summon other party members.
The only downside is that the system can't create players looking for the same content you are. During off-peak hours you may have a hard time getting a full group or getting a well balanced group.

What about the 10% rebate we get at rank 3? There will be no rank after the patch, and it's not something we can buy at the vendor...

The Hall of Legends will now be open to everyone. You can go in and see all the items up for everyone. On PTR, it actually started to have a "PVPer lounge" feel (as opposed to a "deserted" feel).

I don't know for sure, as I've only ever reached the rank of Master Seargent, but doesn't rank determine who can and who can't "speak" in the World Defense channel?
If I'm not wrong... can someone explain how that's going to work? Is anyone going to be able to spam World Defense now? How's this working on the PTR's?

So just wondering when the 5th hits, you can no longer buy pvp gear? And will need tokens and honor points to purchase anything? I am at work and can't look at wow forums. But I thought if you had the rank you could still just buy the stuff.
I am on the verge of hitting 8(robe and pants) come next week and not sure if i should just give it up or keep going? I mean, either way i will have them but was wondering if i might have a slight chance to get in and snatch and grab early in the morning before they take teh servers down. If they are still doing the final old system honor update.

Really this is one of the only exciting things about this patch for me Im actually looking forward to this and having my rank as Knight forever doesnt bother me one bit. Being able to get the gear and other stuff will be nice to.
