Breakfast Topic: Looking forward to the patch?
We now know that the next patch is coming out on December 5th -- Blizzard has given us a week's warning on this one, presumably to allow PvPers time to try to get in those last ranks in the last week of the honor system. What's the new patch have in store for us?- New honor system (old ranks will be scrapped)
- Revised talent trees (up to 41 points) for all classes)
- New LFG system
- Changes to +spell damage (making lower rank spells receive less, HoTs/DoTs/channeled spells receive more)
- Stacking HoTs
- Resilience
- Weapon skill changes (no longer reduces the percent damage lost due to glancing, adds a minor amount of +crit)
- Crowd control effects reduced to a maximum of 12 seconds in PvP with a higher resist chance.
- New arenas
- Agility change (1AGI == 1AP) for hunters
- Rage normalization for warriors
- Skill level required for disenchanting
- Signifigant UI changes and the death of Decursive

Dang. I'm so glad I've spent the last 2 months grinding AV on my downtime to get my free epic. Too bad I'm only Senior Sgt. 4th class. Ugh.
So does anybody know how this is gonna work for those of us who were hoping for a bad-ass black war kodo?
Luka Nov 29th 2006 11:16AM
Too soon, still needing some tweaks in the talents and the UI... I can understand the GMs want to go in vacations for Christmas, but a dev week more couldn't have hurt...

You can purchase all of the PvP mounts now for 30 tokens from AV AB and WSG. Easily obtainable with a week of light PvPing

Dang it! I just respecced for 15g because I didn't think I'd get my new talents until the expansion...sigh. Oh well, it gave me enough time to realize that demonology really isn't my thing - affliction here I come!

I've been on PTR for a week now, just for make sure all required addon will work on day-D. Of course, we will have to deal without decursive, but because of the huge UI changes, lots of addon need a big adjust.
I will make sure my guild can raid when the patch comes out
for the other changes, new talents are cool, but we now need the 10 missing points ^^

Will this last week of pvp even count? If the old ranks will be scrapped when the patch goes live, how will this weeks accomplishments be added into your current ranking? Maybe a CM has said otherwise, but if not, I don't see this weeks pvp accomplishments translating into much more than pride (or lack thereof).
GG Nov 29th 2006 11:52AM
Skid, I thought the same thing, but a blue posted saying there will be one final honor calculation on the 5th before the patch.
Oh, and what's the deal with decursive?!? No more button spam on Chromaggus? What's a shaman to do?
duron Nov 29th 2006 12:11PM
Last week of pvp does nothing except grant you title. and its funny to hear all the almost hwl's and gm's complain cause they cant get the gear next week and will have to grind some more. lol qq more

My main being a hunter, I'm very excited. I tried survival spec about a month back, and want to go back to marksman, so the free respec will be nice, but i need to look at the new trees closer. I love the bg's, so I'm very excited for the new honor system. I don't have enough time to keep my rank up. Now that there is lvl limit for DE, there should be a lvl limit for enchants too!

I despise the changes to weaponskill. They are really annoying and a big nerf. Look here for numbers.

Too bad neither the European CM's seem to be a little desinterested.
I have leveled a Human Rogue just to be a tad better in TBC and now its all thrown over and useless.
Well, I also am not so happy about the UI changes but there has been a good post on the Forum about the new macro system. We will get used to it.
I am looking forward to see the other changes. But a big /spit to Blizzard for the Weaponskill nerf.

Are enchanting level requirement being added? Does this mean that twinks will be no more? Will I finally be able to enjoy Warsong Gulch at level 15?
Donner Nov 30th 2006 1:39AM

This is an approximately 470mb patch and it took me around 14 hours to download it with the Blizzard downloader on a broadband connection. I know some people have other, faster ways to download it but it might be a good idea to start early if your not one of those ppl.
Kaziel Nov 29th 2006 1:34PM
Daghol: Assuming enchanting is the same as it is on Closed Beta, no. Only the new enchants at 300+ will have a level requirement. Everything that's already in will still be there.
Prauche Nov 29th 2006 1:32PM
thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou for dedicated patch download servers with no queues for members of certain gaming websites (gamespot.com, etc).
raawr Nov 29th 2006 2:38PM
Luka I assume you are just clueless.
Are you not aware these talents have been in BC beta and been under scrutiny for a while now?
PTR realm is the final stress mass test on it for everyone to see.
These new talents have been tweaked and tweaked and tweaked in BC Beta already....
There is not much more tweaking to do...
sometimes people cry too much and knee jerk way to often

This patch makes me happy because of a facit of it that can be described in two words:
Paladin Tanks.
Woot, I say! Woot!
