Breakfast Topic: Dealing with downtime

We've all had to do it time and time again -- the servers are down for regular or emergency or just plain unscheduled maintenance, and your evening plans are suddenly ruined. So what do you do about it? Spend the evening trying repeatedly to log on to your realm? Troll the forums? Switch to a different realm? Roll a new alt? Fire up a different game? Go out for dinner? Go outside and try to remember what the sun looks like? Or something else entirely?Filed under: Breakfast Topics, Features

I try to log in a few times...thinking about switchng to a new realm and making a lvl 1 alt, but i usually don't...then i give up and watch tv for awhile. I have never had any "plans" ruined because of donwtime.

Heh, I'm on Sen'jin. We don't even know what downtime is (skipped maintenance 2 weeks in a row, only had an extended maintenance once since I've been playing).
We did have a 30 minute restart once recently, which happened to occur just as we were about to pull Hakkar for the first time :(

When such a traumatic event occurs, I am typically afflicted with overwhelming rage and an uncontrollable lust for hurting those who would deny me my right to play! I usually sit and ponder about how terrible my life is when this happens.

I believe proper server downtime etiquette is to make a post on your server forum for everyone to roll pink haired gnomes on xxxxx-server and storm Ironforge.

When your server is down just after entering BWL with 40 guildies... all re-roll onto another server as 40 naked gnomes and invade Org ;) (pictures included)
