201 issues in 2.0.1
OK, well maybe there's not exactly that many issues, but there's quite a few floating around with the new patch today. No Arena masters, for one. Here's a few more I've heard about so far.- Druids are just plain confused. The patch notes had tons of changes for them, but it looks like only two showed up in the actual patch, the Omen of Clarity buff and Swiftmend. What's up with that? The devs are saying the patch notes are wrong, and there's no word about whether an update will change things later. A lot of druids are confused about it, and rightfully so-- why put stuff in the patch notes that doesn't get implemented?
- There's crazy addon issues, for sure. None of my addons worked at all (they didn't just say "out of date", they actually said "incompatible"), and for a lot of major addons there's no word yet when an update is forthcoming. We knew this would happen, but it still sucks, especially for guilds like mine who plan to raid tomorrow.
- The LFG interface is cool, but there's a few kinks in it, most notably that I couldn't seem to join a group for lower level instances on my 60. If I have a quest in Sunken Temple or Maraudon, why can't I find a group for it? Also, it appears (confirmation on this?) that the raids aren't in the LFG interface either.
- The stealth animations were speed increased (walking speed in stealth), but frankly it looks like characters are "doing the pee pee dance"-- they're jerky and wrong. Petition has been started on the rogue forums to fix them.
- Appears that because of the changes to thrown items (they don't stack-- instead they lose durability when used), equipped thrown items have disappeared forever.
- Finally, this isn't Blizzard's fault, but the battleground servers are being obliterated right now with all the people jumping in to try out their new specs. I was in Arathi Basin 167, and it lasted for all of three minutes before it froze up, flipped over, and died on the spot.

Bah, Blizz will have most of this stuff fixed by the end of the week. It always happens like this.

And of course us Warlocks are ecstatic!

Here are some of the more significant the differences I have seen so far:
My Druid, wearing T2-T3 with about 760 +heal, was doing HT4 at around 1100 before, now its under 850. OUCH! But, rejuv in tree form is ticking for about 530. Other healers in a group with me are seeing a decent increase in their healing from the aura, and we put 2 trees in the same group to confirm that the aura does indeed stack. We lost out most used raid heal (HT4), but are on track to becoming Heal Over Time Gods.
My Fury Warrior, in about half MC and half ZG/AQ20, specced very heavily in to Fury, is doing a good chunk more damage. The 41 point Fury talent rocks. Didn't notice all that much less rage either, but I did spec in to more rage in the Fury Tree.
My Hunter, wearing mostly ZG/AQ20 stuff with a Hurricane Bow, was MM before and is MM now. He is going a LOT more damage. Elite Dragonkin in Azshara are my farming mobs for him, and they were dying dramatically faster. Also, my pet holds aggro incredibly well. I could just nuke, not holding back, and didn't pull aggro once. A better geared Hunter would probably pull aggro, at least I would imagine he would.
UI is BORKED.
No decursive or emergency monitor are going to hurt the raids, no doubt. However, our priests were saying that they were doing significantly more healing with basically the same spec they had before, and strangely couldn't account for why this was the case. Shammy's HW seems to be hitting for more too. Our MT posted some ridiculous stats in guild chat, he is a super beast now.

With the new LFG interface, how are we now supposed to organize impromptu PUG raids on things like enemy towns, racial leaders, etc., other than posting in the local general chat? There's no option for that kind of thing in the new LFG system, only "official" raid targets are listed. There seems to be no global chat that I'm aware of. It seems like the game just lost a great deal of its spontaneity because of this.

Did anyone else end up with a WTF folder in thier C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft directory? after logging in after the patch was installed? is it blizzard or have i been hacked?
owlindaylight Dec 6th 2006 2:14AM
Also, this looks like the end of being able to bribe strangers to run you through instances ... b/c you can only look for instances that fit your level. Other than friends and guildmates, it looks like you can only cross your fingers and hope to find someone in your area.

On a side note- Punch Cards for Gnomer got new images. Thought that was interesting, and, well, not mentioned anywhere
chillis Dec 6th 2006 6:57AM
I also got a WTF folder in my WoW folder. Anyone else seen this before???

Another big bug - the hunter crit% isn't updated as promised. It's supposed to be 33 agi/crit, but if you do the math, the crit % is still tracking to 53 agi/crit. I was cool with the Ap nerf to hunters, but the crit% was supposed to help offset that.

"Also, it appears (confirmation on this?) that the raids aren't in the LFG interface either."
^^Not true. Where it says, "Dungeons" change that to "Raids" and you can select all the raid instances.

You guys obviously dont do much customising if you've never heard of the WTF folder. Just ignore it. The WTF folder is related to local customisation settings for WoW. When things go really bad, its one of the folders you delete and let WoW recreate.
boneyard Dec 6th 2006 8:41AM
haha, that wtf folder has always been there i believe. at least somewhere in the wow folder.
still these errors in the patch notes still annoy me greatly. it shows blizzard can't document their patches right, not even after two years. thats really sad and doesn't show a lot of promise for the future.

I was able to join a sunken temple group, but it showed up as "The temple of" in the combo box. The actual name for the sunken temple is The Temple of Atal'Hakkar.
The removal of the lfg channel was a mistake imo. It's still very useful, and with DKs being gone i can imagine a lot more city raids would happen with the channel than without it.
The WTF folder has always been there. It stores account information, and per character mod information. You've had it since day 1 :p
Orin Dec 6th 2006 8:23AM
I haven't tried the new LFG interface, but if it is still crap, I'll go back to using CallToArms. I don't think it is updated yet. Perhaps they are waiting to see how the Blizzard interface turns out.

Here is another issue. Warlocks Felguard pets Get confused and lost alot. They only run 3/4's speed of yourself.

Shaman set items dropping for alliance in MC
Deam Dec 6th 2006 9:18AM
In case people read these comments (day after) the WTF folder is one of the most important folders in the WoW directory. It's where account settings are stored..so you don't see the opening movie every time you start wow and things like that. It is also where the mod/ui files are stored and settings saved in the .lua files.

There is a Globalcomm channel. I *assume* that is a global chat channel, but I was/am hesitant to /join it.
