To RP or not to RP...
I have always found RP-ing to be something of an alien concept to me. I do have a low-level rogue on an RP-PVP server that I occasionally attempt to play, but I'm never quite sure how to respond to other players who attempt to RP with me. I suppose I just don't approach the task with the right mind-set. However, these hilarious RP posts by Gnomish mage Whiffle amuse me to no end -- and strongly encourage me to give RP another try. While every entry on the site amuses, I have to say my favorite is about Fizzlelicious, Whiffle's Nightsaber-to-be...."Be gone, little Gnome, you know you have yet to gain the full favor of the Night Elves before I can give you the training you need."
"Jartsem, ol' buddy, ol' pal, ol' long ears. Come on. I know a few Night Elf Maidens looking for a good time. Know what I mean? How about I arrange things for you."
He smiled at me and for a second there I thought I had it.
"Whiffle, you have come here every week. Since you were in your 10th season. I know of your passion for Moonring."
"Fizzlelicious"
"Until she is yours, she is Moonring. I will keep her for you, but you must earn the right."
"Alright, I understand. You sure you don't want the Night Elf Maidens? One of them can turn into a bear, you know ... if you're into that type of thing."
"Whiffle!"

HAH! That's soo true with RP. People there take the whole thing WAAAY too serious. Personally, I stay out of them.
Too many pervs... o-O;;

Hehe, I've been a roleplaying nerd for a looong time, as have most of my guildies. It's RP like this that keeps it fun, rather than the os so tragic emo danky doom plot lines that so many people come up with.
And no, saying you are half demon, half Night elf and half Troll doesn't make you a RP'er. It just means you struggle with the concept of fractions.

Not all RP communities are serious, most of them contain adults who like to stay away from 13 year old kids who gank on pvp servers and such. Ever heard fo the Scarlet Crusade Server? They had a world first 40 paladins vs 40 shamans event about a month ago. Thats the kind of thing that happens on Rp servers sometimes. Take a look, its a really cool concept.

The best way to get the most out of an RP server is to join a RP guild. The RP guild I was in was defenatly not for kids, we had a 18 and over age limit. A recent event they heald was where they kidnaped a woman from her wedding and sacraficed her to the great dark (did I mention this is an all warlock guild).

LOL! pervs on RP servers, "Let me go where the adults play and troll for kids" LOL, that would be the dumbest perv in the world... of warcraft
My RL friends got me into WOW and I joined their guild/server, but I've been trying to convince them to switch to a RP server to get away from all the kiddies and farmers. But they, like many that play wow, want to play an MMOG, not an mmoRPg :(

Ah, RP is fun. Just figure out who your character is, and imagine where they came from and what they do.
Eh, mon, me troll girlies be good ta go, one wid de powa ah de straight magic, de odder be wid de troll gods.

I leave the RP to D&D.

RP is what you make of it. And believe me, it's a lot of fun. Especially when done in the spirit of having fun. I find it makes the game far more enjoyable for me than normal play does.
And the best part? Every time you log on, a new adventure begins.

It's all dependant on how much fun the other people want to have though...

I found a complete copy of these posts on another site. I thought you might want to see this, as it showed up in my WP Dashboard:

If these are your posts on another of your blogs, I apologize, otherwise, they are infringing on your rights pretty regularly.

I play on an RP server, and I always try to rp, at least a little. I just respond to what I see happening around me. If I see something funny, I'll laugh and make a joke. Or if it's raining I might complain about getting wet.
Heavy RPers can be intimidating, but I'm sometimes amazed at their creativity. However, you don't have to be writing a novel to rp. A little goes a long way. It helps to get you completely immersed in the game. Otherwise, you're just sitting at a computer, pressing keys.
