Scrambling for new mods on raid night
Hindsight is 20/20, so if you're telling me it was a bad idea to plan an MC raid the night after the 2.0.1 patch, I now see that you were probably right. My guild is getting ready to raid tonight, and not only are we now contending with rolling restarts (they're hitting all realms to "hotfix" a critical bug), but we're scrambling to get our interfaces back to the point where we can actually use them. The problem, however, is that as of right now, Curse Gaming's website is spotty at best-- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it works, their 2.0 page is the place to go for the new addons, so that's probably the first place you can stop. CTRaid, fortunately, is hosted elsewhere, and they had their 2.0 release ready to go (there was a quick fix last night, but the current version works swimmingly). CastParty is hosted over at Sourceforge, so while you can download their 4.3 version, I put it in, and it is incompatible with WoW 2.0 (bummer). And for the worst news of all: Auctioneer's authors are busy with schoolwork, and so their new versions won't be coming out for... another two weeks.
Unfortunately, with Benecast, CastParty and redHeart out of the 2.0.1 mix, I haven't found a clickheal mod that works. That's what we suspected when we first mentioned the addon apocalypse, but does this mean clickhealing is gone forever? Will we all have to face the music and live without the mods we've come to know and love? For the time being, seems so. If you've found an updated version of a mod you use, or are even an author of an updated mod, feel free to post in the comments and let us know where to go. Our servers' back up-- with or without mods, Domo's going down.
Update: MC didn't work as planned. With new talents, messed up mods and bugged interfaces, we threw in the towel early. One the mages were really missing is Decursive. There is supposed to be an updated version out, but not confirmed if it works or not-- anyone try it?
Update2: More mod updates.

Clickheal mods are lame.
Play the game with skill, not with programs that help you cheat.

How are clickheal mods cheats? I don't actually use any, but clickheal mods don't make any decisions for you and, really, just save you 1 button push (left-click the tank's party frame for Gheal instead of click the tank's party frame and then push 2). I'm not sure if click-mods are now banned or not, but that certainly doesn't seem like an exploit to me.

You know what I wonder if it works for healers...focus. I've got a great banish macro that uses focus. One button sets focus and banishes, then I can go off and fight other baddies. When the banish wears off, I hit another macro button that casts banish on my focused target. It never removes my current targeting, doesn't require that I find my old mob, or anything. It's like an afterthought.
Anyhow, I wonder if healers can use this for MTs - focus the MT, and then have a couple macros that can heal them, while you're off healing others. It probably won't make up for some of the click-healing you used to get - but it's a pretty damn cool idea.

Healbot is a good alternative that WORKS at the moment :)

ui.worldofwar.net is kinda borked right now, so I can't send you to the page for HealBot, but here's the download page:

This is a *great* click casting mod. it's set up to heal with left, right, middle (and more) click plus modifiers like shift, alt, control. It does smart casting out of combat, so it make rezzing, buffing, etc. super easy.
It also has range detection so in AV you can concentrate on the people you actually can heal and not have everybody and their mother fighting for your attention.

The new version of decursive does *not* decurse. It targets the person, then gives you a message that says something like "Decursive does not dispel targets. Wait for the next version." :(
GG Blizz for making fights impossible without mods, and then nerfing said mods.

Decursive won't work anymore o/ (interface API nerfed for auto player selection)
For your information, our guild is working on the 4 hs and is not using decursive.

Learn to play without mods. Simple answer really.
All it takes to heal effectively, is key binding. Set your number pad to your spells. and then use the default f keys to select your party member. Easy.

You can all say what you like about those who use addons, but the fact of the matter is that Blizzard allows it, and those who use the addons are going to have an edge over those in the game who do not use the addons.
I, personally, use any edge I can get that is allowed within Blizzards TOS.

Killed noth using default UI last night. The uber buffed raid dps makes up for the manual clicking.

I haven't had any problems with auctioneer beta. Seems to be working fine. Vbagnon works but has a little different functionality than previously. I don't know if I love it yet, but at least my inventory and bank open up in one window now.
UberGuildOrModJockeys Dec 7th 2006 9:56AM
This patch is the great equalizer -- this separates the good players from the mod jockeys. Are the players in your guild really uber? or are they just a bunch of lame-os letting the mods do their work for them?
I have yet to log in since Tuesday, and frankly, I'm totally relishing every bit of the consternation this patch has wrought!
BoohooMatt Dec 7th 2006 9:59AM
Hey Matt, If WoW is too hard without mods, try turning off the computer and living your real life. Does your life come with mods, or do you have to punch the time clock yourself just like everyone else?
boo-hoo!

Clique (an ace clickheal mod) works just fine and can be downloaded from www.wowace.com/files.
Mike Schramm Dec 7th 2006 11:00AM
I don't play the game to be frustrated, guys. You say you're "relishing every bit of the consternation this patch has wrought." Good for you, but I think you're forgetting that it's a social game. WoW is mean to include everybody so that we all can have a good time, not exclude players who don't have the time or interest to keep up with the difficulty level.
I play Gears of War so that I can become a trigger demon and play on the Hardcore level. I play WoW so I can hang out, build my character, and have fun. Raids shouldn't be frustrating-- they should be fun.
Theadrick Dec 7th 2006 11:10AM
It's only a matter of time (probably sooner not later) before we have a working Decursive, or something with the same functionality, again.
martin Dec 7th 2006 11:49AM
i'm more IMBA than all of you, i play the game blindfolded, with one arm tied behind my back, and on a keyboard where the buttons are reassigned RANDOMLY every 15 mins.
The absence of mods is clearly making my pvp life easier, so i need to find a new way to handicap myself, any suggestions? i was thinking i could cut off one of my index fingers, the blood would make for really slippery keys which should add an extra challenge.

I have not seen any mention here of the one mod that I as a hunter had come to rely on more that I realised RangeHelp
http://wow.curse-gaming.com/en/files/details/1111/rangehelp/
Right now nothing does all that it did and for hunters a replacement is nowhere to be seen right now
the author no longer plays WoW and posted this note

Sorry guys, I've long terminated my WoW account and won't be able to test or even update the mod, unless someone is willing to lend me a WoW account to update and develop it further. If there is anyone who has successfully updated it to work, please feel free to send it to me so that I can post an updated version of it here.
BTW it might be possible in the new patch that some functionalities are restricted and it won't be possible for this mod to be fully functionally after the patch.

@Theadrick
WoW doesn't let scripts target and cast spells for you anymore so don't hold your breath.
