All I want for Christmas is a giant staff with a skull on the end
It's been four days since the big patch that was supposed to revitalize PVP, and at least on my server, we can safely say that PVP is alive. Aliiiiiive! With up to 240 Arathi Basins and 110 Warsong Gulchs to choose from, it looks like everyone and their mother are shooting for High Warlord/Grand Marshal weapons for leveling. Even the most uber-leet, overpowered warlock I know, who has 30 pieces of the Staff of Atiesh, wants some PVP gloves -- and judging from the kind of groups Alliance has been putting up in AB, quite a few Naxx guilds have been spending more time chilling around the Lumber Mill than facing the buggy boss encounters inside Kel'Thuzad's citadel.
A lot of healers seem to be trying to pick up the PVP armor sets that will help them level, while DPSers -- and newly dual-wield specced shamans -- are aiming for the weapons they've been unable or unwilling to get in raids. Slightly left out (again) are druids, who have somewhat underwhelming PVP armor and no "plus feral attack power" weapon.
Personally, I'm shooting for the High Warlord's Blade and High Warlord's Quickblade, since swords are much easier to level with when you're a lazy rogue who likes to read while grinding. I also might pick up the PVP legs to replace my last remaining blue item after a year of raiding (damn you, Ragnaros!) What are you grinding for, and how long do you think it will take you to get it?

Got my GM weapon, only took three days.
It feels cheap, like a handout. Not that I didn't buy it, or won't use it! But it's basically "free GM weapons for anyone that will sit in AV for three days!"
If you've got the time, the complete epic armor set won't take you more than three weeks. I guess it's fine - the last hurrah before all these items are obsolete anyway.

Three days for the Rank 14 weapons?? Damn. How much time/day? I've been playing exclusively in Beta but may have to take some time away to PVP myself into an upgrade to my Perditions.

About two weeks and I'll have the Epic PvP Warlock Robes.
I'm sick and tired of my green [Councillor's Robes of the Eagle] than I've had since level 54. They're my only green left (I finally ditched my [Ring if the Heavens] in exchange for [Zanzil's Band] two weeks ago) and I want them gone gone gone!!
It'll probably take me roughly one-and-a-half to two weeks to grind up enough honor to get them. I've already almost got enough AB tokens for them. (AB Weekend FTW!)

WoW is now World of PvPCraft. I am in a Naxx guild, and nobody wants to raid. Everyone just wants to PvP. Funny that very few people in the guild were very much in to PvP until this patch and the ZOMGEZEPIX! People are asking why they should deal with raiding and sketchy drops and repair bills when the epics are sooo much easier to get in PvP? Heck, you don't even have to have any skill, you can just slack off in AV a couple or few hours a day, and the epics will rain down upon you in short order!
I did one, and only one AV last night. Took about 10 minutes, and we won by a few seconds apparently. Got 3 AV tokens and 450 honor. Do that a hundred times and get the best weapon the PvP system has to offer? This is pretty wack.
I have never been much of a fan of PvP, just not really my thing I guess, much more in to raiding, which believe it or not I really really enjoy. Gonna be really hard to convince people to raid now because face it, most of the people raiding these days are in it for ZOMG PHAT LETWZS! Many people I never really suspected of having loot-whore tendencies are saying that raiding is a waste of time now, just PvP and get your epics. I am pretty shocked at how many people are showing their true colors, and what those colors really are! And quite distressed about not being able to raid anymore.
WTB guild of people that LIKE to raid, loot-whore free please.

@4 Maybe people are just tired of doing the same thing that they have been doing for the past year and a half, maybe there tired of sitting at there computer for 4 hours straight without the ability to so much as take 10 minute toliet break.
Moreover there reward for this was items to show there effort and pve prowess (even if it just means sitting there doing what your told keeping and eye on bigwigs).
At the end of the day everybodys a loot whore, whos going to want to kill kelthuzad just because its a bit of challange without having somthing to show for it and a improved character.

I need armor bad. I still have 2 greens so i need to upgrade. Weapon can wait since i have TUF. I'm more concerned for the FM armor set but i've been averaging about 1000 HP per hour. At that rate it will take me 2 months to get it.

well you gotta look at this way: if your in pvp and put the effort in you KNOW your gonna get your reward in full, you get exactly what it was that you wanted. and you can do it all on your own time.
with a raid, its 19-39 other people you have to synch with, huge time sink, and you may not get anything out of it, and when loot does drop it may or may not be what you want or need. and if it is you have to contend with other people in order to get it.

I'm really not that mutch into PvP, and I'm still going to naxx just for the challenge. But I must admit that I am very unimpressed by the PvP Patch they brought in.
I would have loved to see lvl 60 ranked Arena Matches with lvl 60 Rewards. Those Rank 13 Armor Sets are just pure crap in terms of damage, and the rank 14 Weapons are no real upgrade to my current weapons (ledd Dps, less stats, more maxdmg). So I guess I won't do PvP for anything else than just 4 fun.
And that mindless AB, AV and WSG zerging we did for the last years isn't what I call "fun". It's just another grind, not as hard as it used to be. but it's a grind I don't find entertaining enough to do.

Like it or not, Blizz made it easier for the casual gamer to get decent items. Prior to the pvp changes, a person would have to be available for hours at a certain time (for the raid) in order to have a CHANCE at getting something decent. Now that same person can pop on for an hour at a time, at ANY time, and work towards what they want. In all it will take some time either way, just not all in one sitting.
The changes will make it easier for the casual gamer to compete with some of the raiding guilds in pvp play...at least in regards to armor/weapon.
Just my 2cents
