Jewelcrafting recipe database
WoW blogger Kaliope writes that she spent yesterday with Mr. Kaliope putting their fairly comprehensive database of Jewelcrafting recipes up at Crafter's Tome (a new site to me, but it looks quite cool). "I believe it's more complete than Allakhazam or Thottbot at the moment", she says, so that looks like the go-to place for Jewelcrafting recipes right now. Not that it's of very much practical use unless you're in the BC beta, but it's pretty to look at, and if you're smarter than me you might be able to predict what mats would be best to stockpile.Personally, I haven't read very much there, since I'm so excited about Jewelcrafting that I'm trying to keep myself relatively spoiler-free on the subject. My BC character is going to be taking Mining and Jewelcrafting. I'd like to approach it relatively free of metagaming, so I'm giving a fairly wide berth to this sort of Jewelcrafting stuff. But what I have seen of the profession looks almost unreasonably awesome, and it's safe to say that in the month-plus between now and the BC release I'm probably going to crack and read a bunch more spoilers.
What impressions have you guys formed so far about Jewelcrafting? More powerful than Enchanting? Harder to level than Armorsmithing? I'm taking it no matter what you guys say, so don't hold back on my account.

I shall not understand sense in constant updating of a server! For what it?

Uhhhh....You might want to change that link to www.crafterstome.com
It takes you to wow.crafterstome.com, but with a unique ID, as I got an access denied page when I tried your link.

I am really looking forward to jewelcrafting as well; however, once BC hits everyone and their mom's borther's cousin's dog is going to be a jewel crafter so the market will be flooded. A lot of players are just out to make WoW Gold so they will play 10,000 hours that first week just getting mats to sell in the AH...then there are others who just have to be the first to get to 350 (or whatever it is going up to) so they will buy all the mats and start /yell 350+ Jewel Crafter everyhwere I go...but me, I'll just lvl it normally, maybe buying a few mats here and there if I need them and selling things on AH - like normal. Anyhoo, jewelcrafting should be fun!

The #1 argument against taking jewelcrafting is that it's just going to be RIDICULOUSLY popular. Mining nodes will be ninja'd everywhere you go, the stuff you make will have almost no value on the flooded auction house, etc.
My suggestion is that, if you really really really want to do jewelcrafting, keep your expectations low. Know that you're going to make some awesome stuff, sure, but mostly you'll make it just for yourself and guild-mates. And you'll fight over mining nodes for it.

@6: I've found that to be the case for all the production professions, really (LW, BS, Tailoring). Standardly these days I just take Skinning/Herbs or Skinning/Mining on my new chars. I'm mostly interested in JC for the fun of it, and yeah, I'm not expecting to make any money off it.
As far as the nodes being ninjaed, that may not be such a problem. My understanding is that every time a node is harvested, another node pops up somewhere in the zone (similar to mob spawn tables), and so more people harvesting = more frequent node repops.
