Your guide to battleground people-watching
.jpg)
The influx of new PVPers after Patch 2.0.1 has led to a lot of players slogging through battlegrounds with pick-up groups. As Sideways of Korgath has noted, after a couple of battlegrounds, you begin to see the same sort of people in every PuG. Sideways' thread points out:
- The Glass Is Half Empty, who looks for reasons to stop trying in a BG and tells everyone about his plan on how to lose the game quickly before it starts. Half of Horde players in AV fall under this title.
- Oedipus, who confuses the BG leader with his father and "says everything to the BG leader that his father would smack him for."
- Trail Blazer, who reminds everyone to stick together in a tight group and then immediately takes off in Ghost Wolf or Travel form.
- Captain Obvious, who comes up with such masterful strategies as "Defend our nodes!" and "Get the flag back!"
What kinds of players have you seen over and over again in battlegrounds?

The "Healer" Class: "Ya im a god healer..." then he pops into shadowform/moonkin/2h waradin/DW-shammy

You forgot the :
Attentionwhorecapsboy: This player thinks he is the leader. His way or the highway. When we dont listen he quickly becomes glass half empty. Then proceeds to become Grammar Police Nub.
I am pretty sick and tired of these type of players and I wish we had a vote kick system like for FPS games...if 75% vote yes...you are kicked.
I am very tired of the types above ..minus the trail blazer.
My ignore list is growing from BG only.

The person I hate the most would have to be the "I aint dieing for that" I've been doing WSG a lot on my 60 for the tokens and I always see this person as our group heads straight towards a battle with an alliance group, they all of a sudden stop and run the other way leaving those now few of us that went into battle to die.
The other person I hate is the alliance get 1 flag cap and their thing is to now stand at the graveyard and dance saying we already lost so why even try.

Best way to get rid of the new PvP'n noobs is to have your mages throw up portals at the beginning of AV and yell, SUMMON!
P. S. makes sure the port goes to Darnasus.

The rusher: "all rush FW"
What happened to having a nice long bloody pvp battle? Surely the point of PVP is to go uip against other human controled characters and not to go straight for the kill on NPC's?

The Silent Ones are perhaps the worst. Never saying anything or listening to anything, but just doing their own incomprehensible thing. This was even worse in the days before the BG auto-invites.
Born Leader is hard to distinguish from Captain Obvious, althought he sometimes has valid strategies. The real difference though is that Born Leaders never act alone, and always come in groups of at least 3.

Oh, and how can i forget the Veteran, whose only contribution is "lol Horde/Alliance always loses ^^".

/cheer for being Captain Obvious. I hate saying "fight at the flag" all the time. But why doesn't anyone ever seem to do it?
Gist Dec 12th 2006 11:36AM
I don't know about the worst "kind" of person, but I know the worst kind of BG... the one that starts and nobody has said a single word. No strat, no hello, not even begging for mage water. You just know everybody is burnt out, sick of going up against pre-mades, and just wants to lose and get their token. I tend to see that a whole lot more on my Horde toon, as all the Alliance BGs I'm in are full of chatty cathys.

You know what...I want bloody battles too. I agree.
They should make flags linked like Planetside bases.
You have to take flags down in a chain...you cant skip GY to take the next...
That would force us to actually "battle" for Gy.

Sounds like you guys have some crappy BG groups :)
Ephor Dec 12th 2006 10:25PM
Thirsty McThirst:
Opens a trade window with a mage and expects water to appear without even typing anything.
Not-so-l33t-ninja:
Spends AB trying to ninja a well-guarded flag, only to claim victory after he halts enemy resource gathering for 5 seconds.
The Armchair Quarterback:
Always quick to tell the raid leader what they should have done, without any desire to actually lead the raid.
Dahlaine Dec 12th 2006 12:03PM
"I'm doing all the work and you guys are noobs"
Blames everyone else when things make a turn for the worse. Usually spends the entire game following other people around snagging the killing blows. See also: Hunter.

I don't know. I haven't been in a winning match for a week and a half. All my horde toons are stuck in the hellhole known as 10-19, and my mains, who are equiped quiet well, always end up in groups that lose abysmally due to a complete lack of strategy or common sense.
It's incredably disheartening.
Pruflas Dec 12th 2006 12:07PM
Zergers:
The group that tries to "5 cap" AB with 0 defense, and wonder why they lose in the end.
anti turttles : gotta be a better name for it:
LET THE HORDE TAKE STONEHEARTH GY.
STOP TAKING THE SH GY - THEY'LL TURTTLE IF YOU DO!
(allowing the horde to take this breaks any turttle, but refusing to let them have it causes one).
Timelimit Dec 12th 2006 12:17PM
Wow!
Its strange to see Hordies complaining about their groups, I always thought alliance were the worst (im Alliance btw). Last couple of days I've seen the Horde doing pretty well at AV. Alliance all rush forward leaving very few on defence and not even stopping to kill a Horde even if they outnumber him 10 to 1. Where-as the Horde seem to leave a few in defence and pick off Alliance as we ride by. Then even if the horde are already on Stormpike and start killing his guards and the Alliance are still trying to get to the hordie boss (is he called drek?) they wont even recall a team back to help protect stormpike :(
It seems to be all Rush and no PVP nowadays :(
(you can tell that this really bugs me!)
Deam Dec 12th 2006 12:28PM
My only wish....is that text box can pick out phrases relating to "give them the nodes" "give up" "quit trying" and kick those panzies out of the bg instantly.
Nataku Dec 12th 2006 12:55PM
I realy hate the PvP God complex guy. You know the guy who berates everbody else in the BG when your not winning. Letting you all know that its all your fault and not his because his a PvP god and your a noob.
I usually let thet guy know that if he wanted to win at BG that much, he should have rolled Horde
Dave Dec 12th 2006 1:05PM
Hmm, how about those players who just have to stop for every single hk? These are the ones who dismounts for a single kill even if 5 of his/her teammates are already on the target. They'll run past flag carriers or undefended nodes if they have to in order to get that kill.
What would you call someone who can't read maps? Well, some would point to one of the genders. Anyways some players just don't seem to notice where a friendly flag carrier could use escorting, which weakly defended node needs support, or a tower that can easily be captured back.
