Best of 2006 nominations: Server, Class, Guild
It's that time of year again-- a chill is in the air, snow is on the ground, the holidays are here... and publications all over the place are proclaiming their year-end lists, a chance to look back at the past year, and pick out what we'll remember most in the years to come. This year, WoW Insider is no different. We're going to put together a list of the best of ten different categories from all over Azeroth. We'll honor everything great that this game has to offer (and even something we don't really want to remember). But we need your help. All this week, we'll be posting and asking for your nominations in a number of different categories. Look for these "Best of 2006 Nominations" posts every single day this week, and you'll be able to register what you think about the different categories we post that day. Then, all next week, we'll be doing a series of Best of 2006 posts, where we'll honor all the best that the World of Warcraft has to offer, just in time for the end of the year.
Today, we're asking for your nominations in three categories: Server of the Year, Class of the Year, and Guild of the Year. Post your nominations for those three categories below. Sure, you could post your own Server, Class, or Guild, but try to think of one for each that has really led the vanguard this year in World of Warcraft-- for Guild of the Year, you could let us know about a guild that did something really amazing for its members. Or for Class of the Year, you could recognize one class that really came into its own this year, or one class that stood firm against the sea of QQing, or actually QQed enough to get what they wanted with the CMs.
Anyway, go wild: we want your noms today for Best Server, Class, and Guild of 2006. All this week, keep your eyes open for more nominations posts like this one-- we've got ten different categories to go through. And next week, we'll be announcing the winners of the WoW Insider Best of 2006. Stay tuned, and thanks in advance for giving us your opinion to help pick the best that 2006 has to offer.

For best Guild I have to nominate Death & Taxes.
Yes, theyve stirred up a lot of trouble. But the fact remains that they pushed the endgame content harder than anyone. Whether it was their public mocking of Tigole as to C'thn being a "cockblock" or their world first on 4 horsemen or Sapphiron, they've been the most recognizable endgame guild out there.

Guild = Overrated hands down. Whole guild banned, that's classic.
Class = Warriors.
rickbobby Dec 13th 2006 2:02PM
Server = Aegwynn US
for producing Pwnercycle, world's greatest warrior
Gunn Dec 13th 2006 2:19PM
Best Server has got to be Medivh.
Hands down.
Best Class:
Warlock, they're gods in everything. PvP, PvE, and generally a cool class to play.
(MY MAIN IS A MAGE)

Server: Anub'Arak (also called n00b'Arak.) Who knew you could have a whole server full of incopitant and subborn n00bs?
Guild: Pals for Life. Still. LEEEEEEROY JEEEEENKINS!
Class: Warlocks. Because they still own.

Guild = Overrated. The shot heard round the World (of Warcraft)firmly reminded us that though you may walk through walls, the great ban-stick can still knock you out of the World (of Warcraft).
Class = Hunters. Patch 2.0 taught us that this class is not just for farmers any more...
Server = WoW Closed Beta. Think about it - is there any server that has been watched as closely by as many people for as long as the Closed Beta Server?

For best guild I nominate Forlorn Legacy (Alliance, Windrunner). Aside from being one of the few guilds in the world to kill Kel'Thuzad but I think they are the only guild in the entire world to form 3 of the Legendary Staffs, Atiesh (Loerna, Dissonant and Bandsaw are the owners).
Everyone on Windrunner looks up to these guys, they set the standard.

Server: Medivh, first server to complete the opening of the AQ gates (which is prolly the only true world event for 2006 that I can remember, Naxx was a joke and had no event else than the scourge invasion).
Guild: D&T, I guess.
Class: Warlocks and/or Mages, they both got some awesome polish this year; awesome DPS, neat tricks up their sleaves, very fun to play, feared like hell in PvP.
Ryan Dec 13th 2006 2:34PM
Server: The Forgotten Coast for producing the guild mentioned below.
Guild: Paper Street Soap Co. - No one owned the LFG channel like they did. The first rule of fight club is...
Class: Felguard... yes, it is a class. It has an arcanite reaper for crying out loud.

// 4. Server: Anub'Arak (also called n00b'Arak.) Who knew you could have a whole server full of incopitant and subborn n00bs? //
Did anyone else catch the hilarity of this? There's just something really ironic when someone labels another person as incompetent, but can't even spell incompetent correctly...

Death and Taxes.

Server: Khaz'goroth, the oceanic PVE server has become one of the most populated servers with some of the longest queues ever seen. It has been a continuing topic of heated discussion on the offical forums.
Guild: Overrated for the whole fiasco with hacking.
Class: Shamans, no other class moaned quite like the shammies when it was their time for review a couple patches ago.
Melf Dec 13th 2006 3:22PM
@7
Windrunner does not look up to FL. They are a bunch of elitest jerks (and not as cool as EJ) who somehow managed to complete a double Atiesh in one night. Great at poaching players though.
Guild: Curse -- who else makes your addons available on their website?
Server: Magtheridon -- because they said so
Class: Hunters -- even though we go OOM like crazy now, we're racking up HKs as we do it :)

Guild: Erebus of Vek'nilash for 3 reasons. 1.)One of the greatest most giving guild. Members are always willing to give a hand to others, and officers willingly give mats and support freely to their members. (I've gotten items/mats worth 100s of gold with them refusing to even charge dkp) 2.) This guild has progressed fast up to this day through ZG, AQ20, MC and Ony. In the same week both Thunderfury and Hand of Ragnaros have been crafted (Thunderfury being the first one on this server, and we're already half way to the next). 3.) Finally our happily married GMs have been pregnant with their first child and have contributed non-stop through it all. On Sunday night they were both helping us in a raid, and Monday they were in the hospital giving birth. Congrats on their beautiful baby girl!
Class: Warlock.

Best Server: Medivh (US)
By having horde and alliance work together Medivh was able to be the first server to open de gates of AQ (we even had horde farming wool in Stormwind and Alliance gathering linnen in Orgrimmar). Weeks and months even before the other servers. Because of this Medivh was even named in the next Blizzard promotion video.
Kaziel Dec 13th 2006 3:55PM
Best guild: Goon Squad.
This nomination comes from me mostly b/c I'm impressed with their recent exploits in innovative PvP. Mind you, I'm a pretty hardcore PvE-er. I PvP occasionaly, if I'm bored, but for the most part I avoid PvP. Doesn't really interest me. But seeing them doing stuff like what they do (the kidnapping of the Flightmaster for example) actually made me want to go roll on a PvP server to do something off the wall like that. Thinking outside the box is rare and highly entertaining.
Class: Paladin
More than any other class, 2.0.1 was a blessing for them. With it they recieved the two biggest things they had been asking for, for the longest time:
A instacast damaging attack.
A Taunt-like ability.
In one fell swoop, they gained a huge DPS boost, and the ability to tank in raiding endgame (possibly even better than warriors?).
Gurei Dec 13th 2006 6:19PM
Best Guild? Goon Squad, they did something just TO FUNNY! they kidnaped the Flimasters lol.
Best Class? Druids, they QQ more than all other clases together
Best Server? Test server,no other server has crashed an entire continetn for so much time lol
ChrisM Dec 13th 2006 3:37PM
Server: N/A
Guild: Overrated. They cheated, got banned and still slept good at night about it.
Class: Resto Druid. A legendary class that is only seen by few. No one has been able to prove they actually exist.
Brianne Dec 13th 2006 7:36PM
Best Server: Argent Dawn, Just because we had Snowyangel...Ahaha, Oh the drama... I love drama :P
Best class: Warlocks. Because, they pwn. In general. And always will...
Heymish Dec 14th 2006 8:36AM
Server: Khadgar-one of the oldest, had its problems from launch, now there is hardly ever an issue
Class: Rogue-because I forgot about the turbo football until everyone started telling me I should be Nerfed
Guild: I'd love to say Monty's Marauders because thats my guild, but I'm gonna say the Goon Squad for their clever attempt to make WoW less static. Kidnapping a flight master is one of the best stunts I've ever seen!
