I rolled my class because ...
When you first get World of Warcraft, staring at the race/class selection screen can be a daunting task. There are so many factors to choose from, and you're unlikely to know anything about how the classes really function besides what you read in the manual. And, as you can see by the many people who start out arguments with "I rolled a ____ because the character description said ...", you can sometimes be horribly mistaken about what your class will end up doing.
My first class ended up being a druid because "I can be a cat! Cool!" Unfortunately, I was so scared of wasting mana that I hit everything with my staff and quickly grew bored. Also I thought Teldrassil was the entire world and that I was almost finished with the game. After learning a bit more about the game, I rolled a paladin because I could do damage and heal myself. That got scrapped around the time the damage began looking ... not so hot.
Finally, my friend's enticements to join the Horde grew too strong to resist. I rolled a rogue for two reasons: I could hide instead of fighting things, and I could steal stuff from people. I also decided on a troll because troll females stand up straight and have mohawks. (Ah, the days before everyone rolled undead for Will of the Forsaken!) As I leveled to 60 and raided MC, BWL and AQ40, I discovered that hiding and stealing may not have been the best reason to roll a rogue. The Twin Emps do not work well with pickpocketing.
Other classes, such as druids who want to use their hybrid skills in raids and paladins who bemoan their lack of tanking abilities, claim they were misled at character selection. Why did you pick your character's race and class, and do you have any regrets?

I rolled my firs class because the description sounde like something i like.
Druid description said that they could do all basic stuff and shift between them, but lacking the more specific stuff.
AKA rogue dsp w/o poisons, kik ,stun,
War dmg mitigation w/o hamstring,aoe fear,MS
Mage dmg w/o AOE power,sheep
Priest healin w/o buble,res,insta heal.
It ended being not what i expected so i rolled my second calss, rogue.
WY? they are meelee,i dont like shooting from away or making magic stuff,my favorite thing is meelee, hybrids are proven to be broken, and the only other option was war .

I rolled my warlock because of the intro cinematic.

I rolled my pally because I like wooden mallets.

I rolled my mage because I was intrigued by the possibility of pewpewing things with frost and/or fire.

I rolled a Pally ages ago because of the same reasons as you. I wanted to deal damage and heal it. Eventually, I didn't mind being the guy there for support auras and general buffs. Now I just recently rolled a druid, and I'm kind of bummed that when I reach endgame, I'll be forced to respec to healing. Shaman, Druid, and Paladin are classes with hybrid potential that is wasted because no one picks preist.

Oh god...I rolled a pally, Cause I wanted to go in the dungeon, Smack some faces, and Heal a few buddy's. Then I heard what it was like end-game. That totally turned me off. Also, The lack of groups that didn't want me cause I was Ret also made me extremely mad. Then I switched to horde, made a Troll Hunter, and was happy.

Because my girlfriend really wanted to be an orc warrior, and shaman was pretty much the only healing class that orcs got (I figured that it'd make things a lot easier if I could heal). I'm pretty happy with my choice - I can tank, dps, heal, do whatever.

I rolled a Warrior because we are a staple and simpler class. We are fun.We pwn(and die) a lot. We are also need for raids....And other then dying , we are fun.

I rolled my warlock because I wanted to play a pet class, warlock seemed complex, flexible, durable, and in demand. Keep in mind this was in the days of the 10 minute cooldown deathcoil with no fear component, before the talent respec, etc. I levelled up a warlock in hard mode, and had fun doing it.
I rolled my druid because I wanted to have a healer, and couldn't stand levelling a priest. I started the druid when my 'lock hit level 30 or so.
I rolled my hunter 'cause hunters looked like a lot of fun. They are.
I rolled my warrior because, well, we needed more tanks, and I figured it'd be faster to level a warrior up than try to get enough feral gear for my druid. I was right. Druid itemization sucks, no matter what you're doing.

I took priest because I was joining up with some mates who where already playing and their guild was short on them.
Still here, still healing after all this time :)

I rolled a Troll Shaman first because all of my friends had rolled Horde and none of them had picked a Shaman yet (others were Hunter, Druid and Warlock). I also liked the hybrid aspect of the class and read that they were a force to be reckoned with in PvP.
I picked a troll because I like the look better than Orcs or Tauren. Sometimes I wish my racials were better for the Shaman class, but given the choice I'd do it the same way all over again.

My first character was a Tauren hunter. I don't really remember why, except for wanting a pet, and also the Tauren sounded like a noble race. Well... I didn't like it very much. When I was fighting mobs, it always felt like I'd just sit back and hit a couple buttons. The mob would usually die before I took damage, sometimes when there were more mobs, that wasn't always the case. Having to feed my pet every 5 seconds also grew old quickly.
The next character I rolled is the character I play today. An undead warlock. I picked undead because I figured I wanted to try something on the other continent, at the time I didn't really understand why will of the forsaken was useful, but now I'm glad I rolled it. Unfortunately... the other continent sucks. I ended up going to the barrens and doing all the quests over there.
I rolled a Night Elf rogue... which lasted for all of 12 levels before I got bored with it. He's currently dead on the road somewhere in Darkshore. I don't think rogue is the class for me, especially not in PVE where you have to deal with larger groups of mobs.
I tried a human paladin too, but... I got bored and went back to my Undead Warlock.
I don't think I have any regrets in terms of race or class. It was just hard to level at first and then it started to get easier and easier. Especially when I learned to stop putting talents in every tree...

I rolled a warlock because I loved playing a necromancer in Diablo II. Warlock seemed to be the closest thing WoW had to offer. I have been loving it since lvl 1.

I was brought into WoW by a good real-life friend. He gave me one of those free trials.
So basically he runs me through the classes, saying pros and cons - but honestly, I had no idea what half the stuff was about having never really played either RPG or MMO games.
I said something along the lines of "a pet would be cool", so he said, "Well, go Warlock or Hunter - but if you go Hunter, you have to feed your pet and keep it happy"... So, since I really had no idea, I went Gnome Warlock.
I leveled him to 60 and I am quite happy with my decision. Knowing what I know now, I would have probably picked Warlock again - I think more-or-less I got lucky in randomly picking that class.
Monigote Dec 13th 2006 8:36PM
First was a NE Hunter, then I saw how cliche that was... Switched to a Priest (played horde and Alliance) and never gone back... Every WoW group be it a few people questing, to 40-man dungeons or BG's, needs a (good) priest.
False_Magister Dec 13th 2006 8:43PM
I created an undead warlock because I feel that I identify with the whole ‘I want power’ aspect of the warlock, along with that I like the darker aesthetic that warlocks have. Also the choice in race was the closet race that is available, which I actually understand and like the reason I picked warlock, identified with.
However I did try different races and classes to make sure the choice I made was right, and this was also during the first year the game was out.

I rolled druid becuase I like squirrels
Tainted_Mage Dec 14th 2006 8:27PM
I had originally planned on making a troll shaman because i checked em out and they could heal and do damage and all my friends were on the horde. so i was like ya they own............Then i tried my first one and i sucked didn't know how to really use a shaman....sooo i chose with my most fav race undead why? because i liked em in the frozen throne.......... first rolled warrior sucked with it cause it was too gear dependent and didn't know how to use it. then i tried mage wasn't reallu gear dependent and could do a hole bunch of damage so i stuck with and now iv got a 60 mage 36 ud war and ofcourse a 22shaman

I rolled my Rogue to sneak around, steal stuff, and deal massive damage from behind. I've not been disappointed. I party constantly with a Feral Druid who likes being a cat, and between the two of us, we get a lot of loot, and take stuff down fast, while sneaking through bad situations. I'm satisfied. ;D

I rolled a mage.. mostly because it was click-tastic DPS, and that's what I always played back in Swords of Chaos and MajorMUD.. back when they were sorcerers... Ahhh.. to be thirteen and have 14.4 baud again...
