Forum Post of the Day: Name an item...
Can you name an item you have now that you're planning on keeping at level 70? Of course there are the obvious trinket toys (there are multiple mentions of WoW Insider favorite Dartol's Rod of Transformation), non-combat pets, and fancy clothes -- but think about it, is there any actual gear you plan on holding on to by the time you hit 70? For my part, I imagine my priest will be holding on to the Blue Dragon Darkmoon Faire card, as it has a unique effect that I doubt I'll see duplicated elsewhere. But for ordinary gear -- even epic gear that's taken hour upon hour upon hour of learning encounters and attending raids -- it may smooth the trip to 70 a bit, but I don't see any of it being irreplaceable.Filed under: Items, Expansions, Features, The Burning Crusade

The priests in the audience will agree with me when I say this,
but I will NEVER ever sell my Devout Shoulders.

Full judgement is just too pretty to DE or sell...

On my shaman I will keep my Natural Alignment Crystal (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=48346). It scales, so it will still be great at lvl70.
On my rogue I need one more EoM drop for the trinket(http://www.thottbot.com/?i=51987), wich i will also keep at lvl70. A rogues energy doesn't increase( other than 10 with a talent and another 10 with 5/8 tier1 bonus). So the trinket stays as good as it is now.

Insignia of the Alliance/Horde. I've had it since who knows when, and I will NEVER EVER get rid of it.

There are level 70 versions that have the basic functionality plus more. (Warlock is decreases targets resistance to your spells by 20 or something like that)

I will never dispose of my hydrocane. Being a non-engineer and not a 'Lock, it's my only option for extended deep sea exploration.

Orb of Deciet.........I mean come on..........You get to make yourself look like the bad guys.......always a fun tool for a rouge to get into a city unnoticed. =)

Probably Nightfall (the axe that is, rather than the spell).
I hate using it in raids, but the guild went to a lot of trouble crafting it so I keep hold of it and use it every raid night. Unless there's a weapon at 70 that has the same effect, I'll probably HAVE to keep hold of it.

My Hydrocane staff that I got in Gnomeragen. Unless of course there is something better out there that let's you breathe underwater without taking up a trinket space.

Hand of Justice, great trinket.
Zyburn Dec 17th 2006 12:31AM
Lifegiving Gem, gives percentages of health back so it will still be usefull at lvl 70
Sylythn Dec 17th 2006 12:33AM
My Abyss Shard - free voidwalker ftw!
forzaq8 Dec 17th 2006 12:40AM
My ashkandi , i'm sure better weapons don't drop that easy

As a pally, Linken's Boomerang is gonna stay around forever...or until Blizz wises up and lets pallies use crossbows.
It's too darn useful to have a long range missile weapon to pull with...and it's the only one in the game.

Am I the only one who thinks that the post on the WoW forums is essentially a "nerf this blizzard, it scales!" post?
crod Dec 17th 2006 2:38AM
thunderfury. or any of the others (atiesh etc..) If only for the sentimental value of having a legendary weapon
Tigraine Dec 17th 2006 7:05PM
Lifegiving gem was already nerfed. It will only give 1.500 HP more and will NOT scale :)
Trollyboy Dec 17th 2006 7:37PM
Definately my "Armor Of The Fang" set from WC. Yes, my toon is a lvl 60 shammy, but where else am I going to find skin tight pink armor that perfectly matches my Violet Raptor.
If anyone on Jubei'Thos sees a Pink Troll on a Pink Dinosaur streaking through orgs, that's me.

My Freezing Band will likely survive the storm. The frost resistance and the +frost damage is replaceable, but dear god do I love the proc on it. It may get replaced for regular grinding, but never for PvP. There's nothing like seeing a confused cow staring at you through a block of ice.
My Robes of the Archmage will likely be around forever too. The grind was so long to get them that I can never see parting with them.

Three engineering trinkets.
Ultra-flash Shadow Reflector: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=37951
Hyper-radiant Flame Reflector: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=37473
Gyrofreeze Ice Reflector: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=37247
All of them reflect spells of the matching school for 5 seconds - great for PVP. They also have good resist bonuses (+20, +18, and +15 respectively) and therefore are nice to have outside of PVP as well.
This is of course assuming there aren't better versions available later in the skill progression in BC.
