WoW Moviewatch: Alterac Valley snowball tactics
As a follow-up of sorts to yesterday's AV video, here's one showcasing the new AV-only Hardpacked Snowballs. I've been in there for the past few days grinding honor for Lei of the Lifegiver, and have yet to see anybody use them, but that's probably just because we're all too busy zerging to pick them up. Hats off to you, Doobsan. Traitor.

Dude in the AV's I was in the "retards" on my own team were snowballing people OFF the bridge.
To the point where flames erupted on battlechat.
It really pisses me off they added that. Stupid asshats where taking people off SP bridge.
Way to go Blizz...add stupid crap to the BG that allows your own team members to screw there team mates.
Ryan Dec 18th 2006 12:31PM
LOL I love how pissed these make people. Some people just need to lighten up and have some fun. It's not the end of the world if you knocked off the bridge.
The best is when someone has low health and you bounce them off the bridge... oh how pissed they get!
Anyone that gets pissed about this can eat my cock.

"Anyone that gets pissed about this can eat my cock."
Thanks, 12 year old griefer. I didn't get mad the first time, or second time i got bounced off the bridge. It's after the 5th death that this became annoying and made me realize how annoying pvp can be. I've only been corpse camped once, but i'd rather be corpse camped (at least they are on the opposite team) than have my own team kill me several times. I know horde hardly wins av, and this kind of crap is why, the "why bother, i'll just kill my own team."
One more reason to hate christmas.

"Anyone that gets pissed about this can eat my cock."
It'd be a small meal.

A death fall off the bridge only causes durabillity loss since you didnt die by a Player attack. It's another stupid GY trip cause your own team mate decided to target you vs the ENEMy.
Ryan you are simply STUPID. You define Retard 100%
Nelson Dec 18th 2006 1:09PM
actually. snowballs are fun, when used strategically. For instance, I dedicated my heals to a Warrior friend. When someone sees me casting, *BAM* snowballed. So basically its like a kick, silence, counter-spell or something like that.
saliva Dec 18th 2006 1:08PM
Actually most of my guild has stopped playing AV for a while specifically because of the snowballs. I personally think that snowballing an opposing faction member as part of your kill strategy is fine -- clever even. The problem is when you have one jerk who decides he wants to take out his own teammates just for some fun. Believe it or not, some of us actually try to win AV rounds, and getting whacked by your own team doesn't help.
The problem is that there is no accountability for people who do this. You can't ban somebody, you can't penalize them. The best you can do is curse them out on raid chat, and we all know how much good that'll do.
I guess I can't really blame the snowball throwers though. They're probably just relieving the stress of getting beaten down by real-life snowballs thrown by the third graders on their block. Maybe you losers should spend more time playing some sports and less time on WoW. Just a thought. ;-)
Kryz Dec 18th 2006 1:21PM
Yeah, it's something fun they added to the game, and people need to relax.
You virtualy died in a make believe world. Get over it.
It's a game, treat it as such and stop taking yourself so damn seriously.
Brudus Dec 18th 2006 1:32PM
The guy in the video and Ryan makes me remember why I left WoW. HAHA enjoy your 13yo retards guys.
Octagon Dec 18th 2006 2:07PM
I never got knocked off to my death, but it was really annoying. There were 3 Horde on the bridge just standing there, knocking horde off the bridge when they'd try to run from the graveyard to the front lines. So the people fighting kept dying because they had no support. In another game, I was trying to go up the back road above the graveyard to get rid of the Alliance that were camping in it, killing horde as they ressed. Well, there were 4 Horde up there not doing anything so I ran past them to the ledge, and started to Soulfire a human warrior. Next thing I know, one of the horde hit me with a snowball and I was next to the warrior with my pet stuck up on the ledge. That hurt. We lost both, of course, but I'm Horde so I wasn't expecting much. I would at least like to put up a fight and get some honor, rather than sit around and collect just that 1 AV mark like the snowball campers.
It's just a game, so I don't get upset over that, but I don't think it's funny either. If someone asks you to stop doing that, than stop it. Ryan, just accept that there are people in this world that are a little more goal-oriented than you are.
Freehugz Dec 18th 2006 1:34PM
#2 you have self esteem issues, you might wanna fix that before you grow up.
Snowball Defense is great. I find it funny that as horde, when you get the bridge, you have a team of players equipped with awesome weapons and special abilities, but your biggest fear is getting knocked off by a snowball.
Ryan Dec 18th 2006 1:52PM
Wow... if you thinking I'm 12/13 years old makes you feel better about yourself, go for it. But as we all know, those would be opinions as opposed to facts.
I was simply stating that too many people get worked up over the most ridiculous things, especially in a video game. If you think only 12 year olds use the snowballs, then you are far from reality. I typically don't even use the snowballs, but when I see it happen to someone else, I get a bit of a chuckle out of it. When it happens to me, I go get a snowball and get revenge.
I think Blizzard implemented this into the game for a reason. That reason is to help people have fun and lighten up. Think back to when we were kids and had snowball fights. I remember getting pounded in the back of the head as I ran to get some cover... did I call the police and formally press charges on the other kids? Of course not. I made the best snowball I could and waited for the perfect moment to get some sweet revenge. It was all about having fun... and that's what you should be doing with the snowballs in AV.
If you find it hard to lighten up and have a little fun, then you're taking this game way too seriously and should consider finding a new hobby... possibly one that doesn't cause your brain to swell with anger.
Oh, and I don't have self esteem issues. I'm not exactly sure how you gathered that from my initial post, but whatever floats your boat.
@Ryanisgay - Thank you for letting me know that I define "retard" 100%, as opposed to a different percentage. Does that mean it's possible for someone to define "retard" 67%? What would the other 33% be defined as? Normal? Can you be two-thirds retarded and one-third normal? I'm confused. To you and the others that get frustrated too easily, take my advice above and find something constructive to do with your time.
So sorry Dec 18th 2006 2:06PM
It was wrong to accuse Ryan of being 12 years old... he's clearly 9.
Pritchard Dec 18th 2006 2:10PM
I'm so happy to have read this thread, because I wasn't sure if this actually pisses people off. I thought it was funny, knocking your own team off the bridge or into Stormpike Graveyard when the horde have control of it and then watch their health slowly go down as they get trampled.
Now that I know it does, can't wait to go into AV tonight and do that all night. We always win anyway. Just something to pass the time. After the 6,000th AV, it's nice to have something new.
Ryan Dec 18th 2006 2:16PM
Thanks for the heads up Octagon. I thought I would take this opportunity to let you know that your "goal" comment is completely irrelevent. Me getting a chuckle from someone getting knocked off the bridge has zero correlation to my goals in life.
Maybe some of you forgot, but it's Christmas time. Blizzard put them into the game for a little fun... for a short period of time. If it upsets you, don't play until it's gone.
Apocolipto Dec 18th 2006 2:28PM
When over used it is a pain in the ass, last night my friend kept doing it and i was in a no duel zone. so i couldint show him my warrior's swords vs his damn snowballs.
Oblitherax Dec 18th 2006 2:45PM
Ryan is correct, you guys need to lighten up a bit.
Everything said here, as well as everything done in game, is subjective. He may find it funny, while you may find it annoying.
However, based on the fact that is a merely opinion it is then a little bit ridiculas to try to determine his age, mentality, or life goals by said opinion.
Really, get over yourselves. Calling someone names or insulting them "irl" does absolutely nothing on the internet as you have no reliable way to back it up beyond your own opinions... which, ironically, it was an opinion that you got upset about in the first place.
The whole point of playing with other people is the fact that they can interact with you. This is going to be both in a positive and negative way. If you can't handle that, then perhaps you should be playing a single player game... or hiding in a box.
So sorry Dec 18th 2006 2:45PM
He's talking about being goal oriented in the battleground (as in trying to win), rocket surgeon...
Huzurahh Dec 18th 2006 2:53PM
Yes, it was very funny the first time I got knocked off the bridge to my death by a member of my own faction. And then sort of funny the next five times. After that it started getting annoying.
I'm horde so I didn't expect a win in AV, but I think we should at least make the Alliance earn their tokens. Horde who continually sabotage their own team with snowballs are as annoying as the people botting in the starting cave for free honor.
xxx Dec 18th 2006 2:58PM
I agree with #1.
Blizzard droped the ball on stupid fluff add ins. The enabled your own faction to interrupt play.
The snowball thing was to use against the enemy not your own faction.
Leave it to Blizz to overlook how "assholes like Ryan" will use this to interrupt your play.
