More honor points answers from Drysc
Players still have questions about how honor is calculated (both in the estimated screen and at the end of the day), so Drysc answered question after question on the forums today.- Because of a previous CM post, players believed this to be true, but it isn't: The recent "honor nerf" is not calculated at the end of the day; it's already counted every time you drop someone. The honor you gain has already been dropped to its appropriate amount-- there are no other specific reductions that your honor should suffer when it's calculated late at night.
- However, as stated the other day, you may still see your honor a little bit lower from the estimated honor shown on your honor page. The reason for this is because of dimishing returns-- if you kill a player more than 10 times, the honor you earn from them starts to lower in value. The server can't calculate that in real-time, however, so estimated honor is appearing a little higher than actual honor.
- Bonus honor is now appearing in daily estimated totals.
- For you math majors, honor can be awarded in fractions-- it is possible, due to bonus honor most likely, to earn .3 or .7 honor points-- those add up and are rounded at the end of the day.
- And finally, even though the rank titles still show up with every kill (e.c. "HK: Blood Guard" or "HK: Grand Marshal"), Drysc says they have absolutely no bearing (that he knows of) on earning honor.

All this just shows how incompetant Blizz is at releasing reliable information and patches out to the public. Perhaps to the looming BC expansion.
They could've announced the honor nerf prior to release in the PTR realms and tested all the bugs and kinks then address the honor estimation problem before releasing the honor nerf hotfix.
They only gave players 1 week to try the new honor 2.0 before nerfing it, that to be is the single most dishonorable action without notification..
Can't wait til another WOW clone to spawn one day then we'll see how much better their community support will be.

This has worked for myself, and my friends the last few nights.
Here's what you do.
Say your tab says you have-
Kills - 300
Honor - 2,950
Subtract your kills from your estimated honor.
2,950 - 300 = 2,650
When you log in the next day look at how much it says you got the previous day... right around 2,650 ehh?
^_^
That's how we have been calculating our honor, and it sure has held true the last few days.

I'm really kind of upset at the title thing. I got the game 4 wks ago and i'm lvl 32 now. But i pvpd for a day and got my rank up to corporal. Now i'm stuck at that rank forever. While others get knight and other cool ranks. I mean.. i'm happy to show it off cause i earned it. But It sucks ill never get the chance to rank up. Ill always be 2nd lowest rank :(
I also hate how honor points and the rewards are pretty much only useful for lvl 60s. Wheres the low lvl items and rewards? Why would i want to pvp at a low lvl if its not going to benefit me in anyway until i hit 60?
I also am not impressed with arenas. Once i'm 60 ill luv it. But being a low lvl arenas dont really offer anything to me.
I know this game is supposed to have ALOT of endgame content. But why cant the pvp system also work in favor of the lowbies? I know if i were 19 and saw a lvl 17 staff that gave me 20 or 30 more dmg then any other staff at that lvl id do all i could to get it!
Dont even get me started on how druids arn't luved :p

FuHonor for FuBar and YHonor for TitanPanel both do a good job of tracking estimated honor. I've found FuHonor to be lower than my actual honor, but, its pretty close. It keeps track of Honor based on diminishing returns. Why can a mod do what Blizzard "can't do"? Actually Blizzard could do this, but, they would want to track it server side. So evertime you kill someone in PvP it would have to track who it was and find out how many times you have killed him. And it would have to be able to do that across all realms in that battlegroup. That'll probably create too much traffic and cause more lag in the BGs. Mods will track HKs locally. That's less stressing. But, if you play on two different computers it will lose track of who you killed on the other computer.
At least that's my best guess as someone who does programming for a living and has written a few WoW addons.

There are quite a bit of rewards for low level characters... Not as much as for the 60 but at least something.
Stop by AB and WSG camps to see what you can purchase as well...

Ummm... they do have rewards for lower levels. Go to the vendors outside of WSG and AB:

@ Sep - I play an alt that's stuck at Scout, so I know what you mean about having a sad little PvP rank. However, be happy you're stuck at rank 2 forever; it means you can save up honor for the next 28 levels and actually use it for decent set items without quitting your job, dropping out of school, etc. The old system was a complete disaster!
I'm glad the players who have been around awhile will be able to keep their highest rank. Granted, even as far as nerdy bragging rights go it's not much considering some of the idiots who got high ranks just for sinking countless hours into PvP. But it makes me feel a tiny bit better about slogging through the relative ranking system for far too long :)

I have done lots of PvP and PvE. My guild is PvE oriented. I got most of my epic gear from each instance i go in. I think i am the only one that agree with Blizzard for nerfing the honor point. For many reason:
-It has take so much time to get my epic gear from instance. For my part, i was angry to see lazy people sunddenly getting epic gear. Even with the point nerfing, it will take less time to get GM gear.
-I see more PvE guild doing PvP and start working on real time strategy and better teamwork.
-It force people to work harder in BG and become a better PvP player.
-It force alliance player to regroup and stop doing PuG. It is building a better community between players without regarding which they come from.
However, this is my 2 cents for the new BG comers, they seem to go in AV or other BG without knowing what to attack. Now the PvP old timers have to push them so we can win it.
