WoW Moviewatch: DPS-adin III
Esotarious is back! Being a DPS-adin myself, I'm always excited to see pallies do respectably in PVE and PVP DPS roles. You may recall that back in September, Mike Schramm gave Esotarious a quote to use in his next video. We're happy to report that yes, Mike is indeed quoted near the start of Eso's latest creation. I really can't get over how good this makes paladin DPS look. I actually put on my pvp gear and headed out into Arathi Basin right after watching this video. Though his Dark Edge of Insanity makes my Herald of Woe look like a sponge bat, Esotarious has inspired me and legions of paladins everywhere to stop shutting up and buffing and get into the fray!
Here's the link to the Dark Paradigm forums where Eso and his fans discuss the video. You'll also find links to download the full high-quality version of the movie there.

Sorry to all you pallies out there, but I can't stand you lol. I will gladly melt your face on the battleground and if it takes me fearing 3 or 4 allies off my back to do it then so be it ;)

thanks for this information

what a waste of a good weapon on a pally. I don't understand the who point of a dps paladin for pve. PVP, I understand as you need to kill things. But wtf is the point for PVE. If they are DPSing, they arn't healing, so it's a waste of a raid spot that a rogue or fury warrior could have taken. They would have done the same amount of dps with half the quality of gear. What a waste....

You don't scare me. Besides, it takes more than simply good gear to be good on the BGs. I think I could take ya one on one.

You must have missed the memo. The latest patch has nerfed overall healing and since we're hardly the best healers, we gotta do something else. Also, paladin's damage has been upped a bit. In case you haven't noticed, the paladin forums are littered with the posts from players with hurt egos that were stunned and taken down in a matter of seconds by paladins.
Besides, if he had the DKP, or the good fortune, to get the DEoI, then good. It's never a waste, unless you're in one of those guilds that prioritize loot, force players to spec a certain build, and make most of their players unhappy for the sake of 'progression'.

I'm a pally, and I never PVP. It's just not fun unless you like getting camped or ganked, or both (so fun). I realized that battlegrounds aren't fun just as soon as somebody yelled at me for not healing. Sorry if I want to earn some honor too. Anyway I'm not here to point any fingers, and I'm certainly not here to say that WoW isn't fun. It is. I just hate how people have thing thing against pallies.

ya, anyone notice (even 2 on 1) how undergeared his oponents were and how overgeared he is? Not all mind you, but a hunter with tier 0, rogues with .5, some of these "opponents" are gonna go down easily against aq40 gear

a pally than can do 1000 damage while bubbled is the stupidest thing blizzard ever did, period. As if plate armor, a huge mana pool, healing themselves and others while using multiple shields, stuns and the ability to do some dps. You dont bug me too much in BGs, but i still hate you and hope a giant foot comes out of the blizzard sky and steps on you.

Yes, real constructive and informative comments, guys.
Anyway, from what I hear, with the new Retribution talents, Paladins can now actually consistently do great DPS. Enough so that when played right, they can destroy the majority of warriors... usually without bubble-healing. At least, that's the thought that came away from the series of duels my friend fought... and his pally doesn't have ANY purples.

paladins are scary in pvp in 2.0
I'm greatly looking forward to their nerfing.

My theory is this... if the only concern in this game is efficiency, then all raids would be made up purely of priests and warriors. Because really, all you need is healing and tanking, so why not maximize them.
Most classes can fill multiple rolls, so why not allow people to do what they want and forget about maximizing efficiency.

Someone call me when a pally is in the top 20 for DPS in a raid. At that point, I will call for the /gdisband of your guild as your DPS'ers obviously suck.

@ #5: The day I'm scared of a Pally is the day I wear panties and play hop scotch.
captarcher Dec 27th 2006 4:05PM
Yes, as soon as the horde gets a few palladins to level 60+ and starts to tear down alliance in the space of fice seconds(hammer of justice) the palladin DPS will be nerfed, enjoy it while you can. I do not see a future in this kind of palladin.
Also that DPS is almost irrelevant. If any of us spent as much time playing our class and raiding/pvping to the point to be in the nax/AQ40 gear he is in we could show some wild DPS also.
Zequel Dec 29th 2006 10:12AM
Yeah! Toon with tier 2.5 gear and good epic weapon does high damage. News at 11.

the changes in healing hurt every healing class BUT paladins, who weren't as dependent on downranking to begin with. most of our guild priests get cranky when i mention just how much i can heal for while spending almost no mana at all.that said, i've seen paladins just utterly own in pvp. a guildmate of mine will crit regularly around 1700 to 2k in BGs. he's an utter beast and a ridiculously good player (and when we raid, he dons his healing set and heals like the rest of us...:)
as for nerfs -- short of radically changing the class, they can't do much more than what has already been done (10% vengeance, 10s CS.)i think a better suggestion would be for people to get used to paladins not being completely weaksauce anymore.

no doubt pallies are good in pvp now. And I do understand DKP is DKP and can be spent whichever way you want as long as you have the points. However, I think it's selfish for a primarly a healer roll class to roll on top DPS gear in a top tier guild, where a key important is placed on PVE progression. And if someone says hybrids can dps as much as rogues/fury warriors/mages/warlock, then your guildmates arn't playing there classes correctly. There is no way in hell they can outdps those classes.

You must not have much experience in end game raids... you can't even do BWL with 40 warriors and priest...
syco Dec 28th 2006 1:36AM
Does he have thunderfury?
Also, this video makes me so happy. My Waridan is turning out to be one of the most entertaining alts I've ever made. It's good to know that my sucess with her scales to 60...
Matt Dec 27th 2006 8:59PM
Not to troll, but my mage can put up numbers like that with a mix of Tier 1 + ZG + pre raid damage blues.
For a pally, its impressive, but I wouldn't ever consider them a DPS class.
