Countdown to Burning Crusade: grand prize contests and rules
You will be able to participate in most of the Countdown to BC contests each day as they're announced, but you'll have to work a little harder to take home any of the three grand prizes. We're laying out the rules for the final three contests here so you can get your creativity on for a chance to win a Logitech G15 keyboard and a Jinx World of Warcraft hoodie, a Sennheiser PC 160 headset and mic set and a More Dots! t-shirt, or a Belkin N52 gamepad and a Green Linen t-shirt. Read on for the skinny on the three grand prize contests and get details on how to enter.Note: All deadline times are "server time" -- that would be our server time here at WoW Insider, which is Eastern Standard Time. You are more than welcome to enter all three contests, but you may enter each individual contest only once!
Lyrics contest
Wordsmiths: this is your chance to shine. All you need to do to win this contest is to take any song (preferably something most people know) and modify, re-write or remix the lyrics to contain a World of Warcraft theme. Bonus points if you bring on teh funny, of course. The best entry will receive a Belkin N52 gamepad and a Green Linen t-shirt in your choice of size. One runner-up will receive the Green Linen tee.Deadline for lyrics contest: midnight on Friday, January 12, EST. Send us your lyrics (and tell us what song you're spoofing) by midnight on 1/12/06 to countdowntobc AT wow.com. We'll announce the winner on Sunday, January 14 and publish the lyrics from the winner and runner-up. Make us laugh!
Fan art contest
Time to get your crayons and your pencils -- the second grand prize contest is a fan art contest. Send us your artwork depicting any character, NPC, item, landscape, or anything you wish from the world of Azeroth, in any medium analog or digital. Please either scan or photograph your original work if it's not already digitized, and send us a JPG version of your art -- your file must be less than 5MB in size, please! One lucky winner will receive a Sennheiser PC 160 headset with noise-cancelling microphone and a More Dots! t-shirt in the size of your choice. One runner-up will receive the More Dots! tee.Deadline for fan art contest: midnight on Saturday, January 13, EST. Send your less than 5MB JPG artwork to us at countdowntobc AT wow.com. We'll announce the winner on Monday, January 15 and publish the art of the winner and the runner-up.
Machinima contest
Get your editing caps on and create the best short WoW-related machinima to take away a Logitech G15 keyboard and a Jinx World of Warcraft hoodie in your choice of size, and one runner-up will receive a hoodie. We're not too picky about what kind of video we're looking for -- it can be a mashup of WoW with something else, a music video, a comedy sketch, a funny or interesting event, an interview, whatever. Just make it interesting! There is no length requirement -- it can be short and sweet. We won't disqualify any long pieces, but under 10 minutes is preferred to avoid the War and Peace effect.Where to post your video: Post your video to YouTube, tag it "countdowntobc" and include a link to the contest in the description: http://wow.joystiq.com/tag/countdowntobc/ -- then send us the link to your entry at countdowntobc AT wow.com.
Deadline for Machinima contest: noon on Sunday, January 14, EST. Send us the link to your entry on YouTube by Sunday at noon; we'll announce the winners and runner-ups and publish them all in one entry on Burning Crusade release day, Tuesday, January 16.
We'll be eagerly awaiting your influx of creativity here at WoW Insider -- we can't wait to see what you come up with! If you have any questions about the contests or the rules, hit us up in the comments and we'll do our best to clarify. Now go and get creating!

sounds good... except I'm not good at making these things. Good luck to those who are, though. :)

why, why, why must this be taking place during the month of college application hell?
i'll try my hand at contest numero uno, though.

Hey 60 extra days isn't bad at all
Rothoscand Jan 1st 2007 10:42PM
Tried to send it to the email address, but I got a Daemon Failure. Is the address up yet?
DWZ Jan 1st 2007 10:54PM
Just so everything is clear - could you put the GMT offset when you mention times? Like, in the "Day 1" competition, you wrote "3:01pm tomorrow", but didn't seem to mention what timezone that is.
Perhaps use the Fixed Time World Clock?

@Rothoscand -- the address is up, please send in your entry again -- thanks!
@DWZ -- good point, thanks. All times are Eastern Standard Time; post updated to reflect.

I was thinking about to participate to the machinima contest, but I'm not so sure anymore. The Wow Model Viewer is still in Alpha and pretty unstable. But we'll see what we can do without it.

Maybe I missed it, I re-read the rules up there a few times. But is there a limit on the number of times you can enter in a particular category?
Ulf Jan 3rd 2007 2:43AM
Me too! Win, win!!
barb dybwad Jan 2nd 2007 9:37PM
@ Gharr -- one entry per person per contest. You are welcome to enter all three of the above contests, but only one time for each. Updated the post to reflect this -- thanks!

Burning Crusade is really good, huh? I didn't think I'd be so involved it in either. :P So, I understand about taking so long with the winners. :) I'll keep checking though. :D
