Around Azeroth: The dreaded instance server crash

I think most of us are aware that every realm runs on three physical servers -- one runs Kalimdor, the other handles the Eastern Kingdoms, and the third handles all the game's instances. It's possible for one of these servers to crash while the others keep running, and when that happens to the instance server, you see something like this screenshot, where everyone who was in an instance prior to the crash is unceremoniously dumped out over (usually) Hillsbrad. It may not be fun to be there, but it does make for an entertaining screenshot after the fact, as seen in this shot sent in by Saramana of Squishy Soldiers on Icecrown.

LOL thats hilarious!
I went on a raid before xmas to the Undercity with about 40 of us. After like 20 mins of fighting the horde had about as much as us if not more. Anyways
something weird happend and when i died i was kept in cat form and flown from hillsbrad alllll the way back to the undercity where i died. Was reallly weird. I took some pictures and gave everyone a good laugh on vent and in raid chat :p
So if EK is on 1 server and WK is on another server.. and instances are on another server! Then does that mean theres 3 servers for every 1 "server"?

People get dumped there because that location's x,y coords in the game are 0,0. If you try to zone in to a server that's freaking out it probably dumps you there to avoid very bad things happening. Just FYI.

That's pretty hilarious looking. The first thing I thought of is: "It's a WoW dna strand!" lol
