Blizzard announces level 70 PvP weapon rewards
In my continuing quest to explore the PvP side of things, I've often been wondering if I should've been saving my honor for level 70 rewards. I had no idea what kinds of things would be coming out of the BG's for my little orc hunter until now.
Blizzard has updated a lot of PvP information today. For each individual battleground, you'll notice the elimination of faction requirements (no more friendly, revered, or exalted rquired), and the changes in pricing from gold to honor points and pvp tokens. For general PvP weapon rewards, the list has been expanded upward to level 70, and includes a lot of new weapons.
Check out the new information at the links below:
The weapon rewards are definitely worth noting. First, level 70 weapons are all rare, rather than epic. Next, I noticed that there's only 1 ranged weapon, and it's a crossbow. I really enjoy using a bow on my hunter, and though I could've switched to better DPS'ing guns and crossbows before, it just felt wrong. I'm sure there'll be some great PvE bows, but I really think Bliz needs to add a gun and bow to the PvP list at level 70.
Aside from that, I think the rewards are pretty solid for the existing battlegrounds. I'm sure we'll see the Eye of the Storm rewards and Arena rewards on the official site before too long, and that's where the true display of PvP skill will come to play, so you can reap the epic rewards that are due.
What do you think of the new weapons, and the shift in how you acquire battleground rewards from gold/rep to honor/tokens?

Thank god, I've cashed in most of my honor on current lvl 60 epic GM weapons cause those Lvl 70 PVP rewards look just average compared to what you can get in quests and drops in the Outlands.
Until Blizz releases some epic GM lvl 70 rewards, no thanks.
Another thing I see nothing done about some of the poorly priced items like the Battlestandrds still costs more than a mount or the insignia trinkets costs more than some blue armor pieces.
Fixe your prices, Blizz!

I didn't see anything new for WSG, AB, or AV.

I'm a casual player, and I don't want to waste my life in front of my computer to get decent to great gear. I love the new Honor / tokens system as it keeps us casual gamers both satisfied and interested, with a fair amount of time put forward... unlike the last system where I'd have to grind for weeks.

YAY the offhand fist weapon is faster then the main hand... we can do an effective memo/fist weapon combo XDXDXD

I didn't see anything new for the current BGs either yet they are listed on the main page of the site. Even on the drop down box there is no option for level 70.
Maybe they announced it a little early ^^?

does anyone else think the battletome sucks?

I have a Mage/Priest
The staff is the only lvl 70 item that requires AV tokens... Kind of lame for people who like staffs.
As a healer in Battlgrounds and Instances, I was hoping for some nice healing gear (like the HWL mace)... Sadly it looks as if I'll have to do Arean for that...

As a hardcore PvPer (yes, I "had no life" and grinded to 13) The Arena PvP system is a very effective way to reward those who excel at player vs. player combat and team organization. Instead of the current problem of time = rewards, regardless of wins or losses.

The new stuff doesnt look as uber for the level as the existing level 60 rewards. I think quest/instance loot will be the way to go in the expansion. However the change in the honor system at least makes good gear available to those who dont want to do anything more than a 5 man instance.
Also, I got the HWL gun on my hunter. I wanted the bow, for aesthetics, but the gun and crossbow are much better for burst damage in PVP. Also they dont burn ammo as fast.

Blizzard updated the pages for the 3 existing BG's, but as I state above in the article, they've just removed the faction requirements, and changed the pricing from gold to honor and tokens.
The new "level 70 pvp weapon rewards" are listed on the weapons page linked in the article.

the weapons look pretty lame compared to instance loot (not even raid content -- 5 man stuff.)
still, the epic armor you can get at 70 is just awesome and well worth banking 75k honor for.

Oops, sorry about that Paul. I should lrn2read. My bad!

Hmm... I'm curious how many casters will actually pick up the blade & tome... Unless my addition skills have failed me.. I see:
staff: 40 stam, 30 int, spell hit 20, spell crit 30, resilience 20, dmg+ 121
Blade & Tome: 36 stam, 25 int, spell hit 13, spell crit 0, resilience 13, dmg+ 135
To recap, if you pick the blade & tome, you lose 4 stamina, 5 intellect, spell hit 7, spell crit 30, resilience 7, but you gain +14 in spell damage...
^^^ How is that even comparable!

I love that they finally have a nice feral weapon:
Grand Marshal's Maul
+28 Strength
+42 Stamina
Improves hit rating by 18
Improves critical strike rating by 28
improves resilience rating by 19
increases attack power by 423 in cat, bear or moonkin forms.
423!

@ado.
that tome sucks. There will be better offhands from 5 mans. Heck I had a better one at level 64.

Man, I saw "gnoll skin bag" in the alterac valley rewards, and thought: "YES, they finally made a GNOME skin bag." I was very dissapointed by my misreading.
