Breakfast Topic: How are you getting the expansion?
Yep, I'm among those who wish the expansion were simply downloadable -- yes, it would be hideously slow, but at least we wouldn't have to deal with crowds, lines, shipping, and the endless list of pre-order issues. But since it's clear that isn't an option, what's everyone doing to jump in and start playing the Burning Crusade as soon as possible? Ordered online with next day shipping? Have a pre-order with your local retailer of choice? Planning on jumping in in a midnight line? Or maybe just planning on sitting back and picking up a copy when you feel like it -- perhaps a week or two after the release date, once everything's calmed down?Filed under: Breakfast Topics, Features, Expansions, The Burning Crusade

I'm an early adopter, and I'm sure I'll swing by someplace here in town and snag it as soon as possible upon release. I'm sure there are going to be "midnight madness" sales in some locatins, but I'm not sure I'm going to go that far.

Meh, I was lucky/smart enough to pre-order the game via amazon.com in October. They told me I should be getting it by January 24th. So I might not have it in time for launch, but at least I'll have it 8 days after.

Getting it as soon as humanly possible.

I pre-ordered A CE from Amazon last October, as well. Just checked and they are still saying Jan. 18 delievery. Hope it actually happens.

I'm a huge fan of Amazon.com and a loyal customer because of their customer service. Why wait in line when I can pre-order with them and have it at my door the next day? Really, I order just about anything from them even when I know they have to third-party the item because if something goes wrong, they take accountability for it without hassling me, the customer.

I Pre-Ordered @ the Local Gamestop here in Oklahoma. Put a 5$ Deposit down and show up on the 16th and walla. Luckly there are not a big mass of people who play warcraft here in Oklahoma

I did the same as #6. I'll pick it up after i get off on the 16th. Probably will be nearly unplayable for the first week in the outland or new newbie zones.

Pre-ordered the Collector's online with express shipping. Got it shipped to work so I won't miss it. Should arrive right on the 16th.

Why isn't the expansion downloadable? I started playing the game a little over a month ago with the free trial, then got myself a full account, all without ever having to go into a store. It was slow, but not terribly slow.
In my case it's somewhat academic - I plan to get the expansion, but since my most advanced character is only at lvl20, I'm in no great hurry. I'll wait till the rush dies down.

Pre-ordered it at a local EB Games, back in August. Was in the store and figured I may as well considering it was, at that time, announced to be out at the end of October.
At least I got my preorder in early I suppose...

My girlfriend insisted I get the CE (she's a petaholic), so I ordered it from Best Buy. I'll settle for the normal edition, which I'll probably get sometime in the week after it comes out. We're both level 40 and have no urgent plans to reroll or take jewelcrafting, so I'm not in any real hurry.

The game may be a huge thing for the WoW community, but to the majority of the population, it's just another game. This is way overhyped... I'll be getting mine at either Best Buy or Walmart on release day. If I'm wrong, oh well, it'll take Blizzard a good month to make it playable, so I can wait.

I am going to be there at midnight at EB games to get my copy, which I've had on pre-order since September, that is, if they are doing a midnight opening. I called yesterday and they said they "probably would" be having a midnight opening for TBC.
I will be there in line at like 11:30 with all the other nerdy fanboys. I'm getting all geeked-up just thinking about it!

I am going to pre-order the Collector's Edition from Best Buy as soon as the pre-order link goes live. I will do in-store pickup, go to work early the next day, and be home by 1:00 to play the rest of the day.
Sylythn Jan 5th 2007 9:24AM
I pre-ordered, and just found out my local GameStop is having a midnight opening for the release. So 12:01am on the 16th, I'll be there...and at work that day I'll probably be a complete wreck, because I can't just pick it up and then go to bed!
Sky Jan 5th 2007 9:28AM
Preordered at BestBuy for in-store pick up.
Slant Jan 5th 2007 9:43AM
Well I would love to bbe able to download it at the 15th and to upgrade my Account at midnight so I could be 65 on the next evening ;-)
They should give an online option and I have no idea why they do not do it.
Tad Jan 5th 2007 9:30AM
Sadly there are no actual "game" stores within a half hour of me, so I'm hoping the Wal-mart will have one when I get off work. If not, I guess I'll be doing a little traveling to get my fix.
Jennifer Jan 5th 2007 5:52PM
I preordered mine, put $5 down the first day, then went back 2 weeks later and paid it off. I will grab mine probably at about 5:20pm on release day if I can't convince my ride to swing by the mall on the way to work :)
