Around Azeroth Extra: Chaos at the Dark Portal

So you've probably heard there was this patch today, and with it some sort of world event involving the Dark Portal. But perhaps you're stuck at work, school, or somewhere else where you're forbidden to log on to check out the excitement. Well, Around Azeroth is here to help! This shot, courtesy of Flyv of the guild We Know on Eitrigg, shows you exactly what you're missing right now. And I only imagine the crowds will get worse as we hit into prime US playing time...

This is easily the worst designed world event ever. Blizz would have to work hard to be more ignorant in design as they were for this event. I'm on an RP server where I'm not really interested in having to worry about undead warlock #7365 skillcoiling me when im trying to turn in a quest. The flagged horde (or alliance) screwing up this non PVP quest for everyone else force me to seriously question the capibility of WoWs developers.

HAHA fun, I went to check it out on my server and was owned in about 2 seconds from about 40 Alliance players at the portal. Good times.

...so, if you don't like what's going on at the portal... maybe.. don't go to the portal? You're going for the same reason everyone else goes, and chances are they want to be there as much as you. Why not relax a bit and go during off-peak hours?

it's a FANTASY world with dangers and ennemies, play your role : a person in a fantasy world, a world with history and wars. and now, some deamons is trying to rip apart the world
you can roleplay trying living far of that or trying to do your work besides the chaos.
roleplay IS NOT having only what the roleplayer wants to imagine. improvise !

IMO this is a way to get any "clumping" taken care of before the Exp hits. however, as someone posted in an earlier topic, there will still be clumping, just at the other end. Everyone's going to end up in the Outlands...
p.s. anyone figure out if the tabard actually does anything besides pretty fireworks? I just got it before i had to go into work...

Took me about 20-30 minutes to actually complete the quest tonight. Too bad the tabard is the same thing as the other AD tabard :(
At least it's one of those things to show that you participated in the world event.

This image is obviously from a PVE server. I tried to go last night on Thunderlord and it was full on pvp combat and carnage outside the gate. No way to do any quest or even stop and look around. Bodies and corpses everywhere.

The event itself is mediocore at best, especially if compared to the Naxx opening event that took place inside major cities. Were the demons coming out of the portal elites that required such a large mass of players and/or the help of Argent Dawn NPCs, that aspect of the event would be more fun.
However, the PVP aspect was insanely great. A couple of us were yelling at other allies just to treat it like AV and within a few minutes we crushed the Horde at the portal and controlled the area for many, many hours.
