Dark Portal opening event!

Blizzard's main page has been updated, so while you're waiting for the patch to download, read what they have to say:
Azeroth is under attack! Horrific creatures are swarming from a suddenly active Dark Portal and have rampaged into the Blasted Lands. Defenders from Nethergarde Keep have scrambled to meet the enemy head-on. However, even with the assistance of reinforcements from the ever-vigilant Argent Dawn, the forces of Azeroth need your help!
Not much is known of the invasion at this early stage, but early reports from the battlefront describe wave after wave of demonic attackers charging from the Dark Portal. It is also reported that Lord Kazzak was seen departing through the Dark Portal. In his stead he has left his minion, Highlord Kruul, to sow fear and confusion among the defenders.
Accompanied by a host of infernals, Kruul has been seen near a number of major cities in Azeroth, along with the following outdoor areas:
* Hinterlands
* Eastern Plaguelands
* Winterspring
* Stranglethorn Vale
* Azshara
* Silithus
* Searing Gorge
Not even the elite forces of the Argent Dawn have dared attack Kruul directly. Only a large and well-coordinated group of adventurers might stand a chance of defeating him.

Most likely, he will not have a loot table, and will only be required for a raid quest. We'll probably see minimal loot upgrades like during the scourge invasion with fun things like tabbards or item sets with +AP/SpellDamage vs. Demons or something.

sigh. went to dark portal on Bonechewer and it's nothing but a giant gank fest by allies. Outnumbered 5 to 1. they'll probably camp that place through the first week of expansion.

Don't know if this is related, but ghouls appeared in Westfall yesterday. A group of 4 or 5 lvl 14-19 'rotten ghouls' surprised me from the edge of the road next to Jangolode Mine and took down my lvl 16 lock and voidwalker.
Also, last night on the server (Korialstrasz) a huge group of upper level horde swarmed Sentenel Hill. It looked epic.

THERE IS NO OPENING EVENT
when we once the TBC is out there is no event to open the portal, you can go straight through it after installing TBC

This is a horrible event, at least in it's opening hours. On Kargath, Mages and Locks are just doing any kind of AOE damage right in front of the portal so nobody else can get the 6 Felguard kills required for the Argent Dawn quest.

RE #7 - You're right that there is no opening questline or war effort like there was for AQ. However there IS an event going on right now, similar to the Scourge Invasion of '06.

So, I hear there's a questgiver at the portal. Tried going there but the Alliance is there with over 200 people (at least on Deathwing)...
This will make for a very uneventful "event" if the Horde isn't even able to get there...

Wut and "EVENT"......... pfffff kill 5 guys get the tabard the gold and go home.
This was a pvp rape for all, but fun, i think ppl are desperate for something new and get wutever they can take, even if is a crappy thing

Well my guild and another are planning on killing Kruul this weekend. Meh one of the guilds wants to rp the fight though. I dont think thats too smart they should save the rping for after his death.

Kill Kruul.... um.... the bones litter the streets as he kills everything in sight. So no world event then? Watch the carnage... and enjoy!
