Druid and Rogue talent calculators updated
Blizzard has updated the druid and rogue talent calculators to reflect the changes in today's patch.
To recap talent changes for each class from earlier today:
Druids:
- "Feline Swiftness" has been renamed "Feral Swiftness". The dodge % increase now also applies to Bear and Dire Bear Forms.
- "Improved Moonfire" has been reduced to 2 ranks, for a 5/10% bonus.
- "Insect Swarm" has had its damage on all ranks increased. The mana cost of ranks 1 and 3 has been increased. The mana cost of ranks 4,5 and 6 has been decreased.
- "Nurturing Instinct" now grants its benefit at all times, but the bonus has been reduced to 25/50% of Strength.
- "Improved Starfire" has been renamed to "Celestial Focus" and now also increases the chance to resist casting pushback when casting Wrath by 25/50/70%.
- "Blood Frenzy" benefits have merged with "Primal Fury".
- "Improved Leader of the Pack" has been reduced to 2 ranks for 2/4% total health healed.
Rogues:
- "Evasion" (Rank 2) now reduces the chance that ranged attacks will hit the Rogue by 25%, reduced from 50%. It is now available at level 50.
- The "Cloak of Shadows" cooldown has been reduced to 1 min, from 2 min. Now a trainable ability at level 66.
- "Shadowstep" (New Subtlety Talent) attempts to step through the shadows and reappear behind your enemy. Your next "Ambush", "Backstab" or "Garrote" ability is increased by 20% and lasts 10 sec. This is only usable while stealthed.
- "Premeditation" (Subtlety Talent) has had its range increased to 30 yards.
- "Preparation" now only resets the cooldown of the "Evasion", "Sprint", "Vanish", "Cold Blood", "Adrenaline Rush" and "Premeditation" abilities.
- Each rank of "Weapon Expertise"now provides 5 weapon skill.
- "Surprise Attacks" now increases the damage from "Sinister Strike", "Backstab", "Shiv" and "Gouge" by 10% instead of 8%.
You can find the rogue talents here and the druid talents here.
Spend your points wisely, and let me know how I should spec my rogue now that things have changed :)

Yay for the free respec.
Going 41/5/5 with my rogue I think in preperation of Burning Crusade. Been combat the whole time since hitting 60 for raiding pretty much. Will be interesting to not have BF/AR.

Logged on, shortly after the servers came back on (I'm in NZ, GMT+12), and pretty much TB was full of Druids, didn't see any other classes. I just ran around and /dance'd with them all, we're so happy!

CoS nerf from lvl 50 -> lvl 66 is terrible, but not as bad as Shadowstep, the worst 41 point talent EVER.
Spec 10/41/0 combat swords for the upcoming level grind -- it's much faster XP/hr. than mutilate spec. Hemo sub apparently does okay -- still faster than mutilate.
Druid rebalance is good. Overall improvements, only nerf being less MT-ness, which IMO is a move in the right direction for WoW's jack of all trades, master of none.

Forgive my noobishness, but I've never noticed a "pushback" on my druid when casting Wrath. Can someone explain this to me?
bane Jan 9th 2007 7:15PM
@3: pushback refers to the casting delay when hit while casting.
Also, druids rejoice! Not only is this patch a decent buff, ILOTP has been nerfed enough that we still have a reason to QQ :P

@#1 Correct me if I'm wrong, but if CoS is trainable (even at 66) this means every rogue can get it, and doesn't have to waste points down that tree. Seems ok to me.

For me I have to say Rogues are one of the most interesting classes to go up against. I get a lot of their abilities but I didn't understand the Blind talent. I've heard it's expensive to make...that so? I would think every rogue has it at the ready, but I can't tell you how often I've anticipated it and the rogue never used it.
Also, how often do you get resists for Sap? Or do you ever?
Jason Jan 9th 2007 8:50PM
@Pritchard;
Imp sap has nothing to do with resists. It can miss on occasion, which used to pull you out of stealth, even with 3/3 Imp Sap(90% return to stealth)
Now that it's 100% return, you stay in stealth no matter what happens, which is a good thing for rogues.

What's the best spec for grinding as a Rogue? I'm 55 now, trying to get to 60 by Tuesday. I've poured almost everything everything into Assassination. It's fun but I don't level fast at all.

I've been having fun with Shadowstep, particularly in PvP. Nothing like stepping right over a Flare to nab the Hunter in the corner!
TheLimper Jan 10th 2007 2:16AM
My spec stayed the same, 10/41/0 Imp Kick / Mace Spec, caster's nightmare.

@ #10: That's my build too -- it's fiendishly effective. I'm cutting through alliance like butter! There isn't a single class that 1v1's me successfully > 25% of the time, and I'm consistently killing 2 or 3 people before I get nabbed in zerg situations. It's nice!
