I'd rather pay an extra $3.50 a month ($42 yearly) for new content that I don't physically have to go out, find, and buy. Since they can update everything online, I'd rather they put some money into their rolling patch process (no downtime) instead of the cost of putting out all new materials for an expansion... If you get sick of the game 3 months after a new content roll out, you're out $10.50, not $40+. It'd also remove some of that sense of inferiority #3 mentioned.
