Blue teeches u 2 Burning Croosaid (also CoH is being looked at)

Here's a couple of notes on what you need to do, once you've got your claws on a copy of the expansion, to play.
First, don't delete the WoW-2.0.0-to-2.0.3 patch. Apparently BC needs this patch to install, which makes sense, since the expansion went gold long before 2.0.3 rolled out. From Nethaera:
- As the Burning Crusade expansion was finished prior to the most current patch versions it will be necessary to re-patch to 2.0.3 once the expansion is installed. As some players remove their patches after they have been applied we would like to provide a helpful warning not to delete the "2.0.0-to-2.0.3" patch file as it will be required after the Burning Crusade is installed.
Secondly, you will very definitely need a physical copy of the BC discs to install. Furthermore, you will need a CD key for each of your accounts to upgrade them to BC accounts. Also from Neth:
- Your key will upgrade the account itself. Anything you need to load up is going to be machine specific. So if for instance, you play on two machines (laptop and home pc) as long as they have the software loaded and you have the key enabled, you will be able to play your account on either machine.
BTW. You will need to load using the CD in order to have access to the Burning Crusade as well.
Lastly, speaking of how to install BC, Vaneras comes at us with the following:
- "Circle of Healing" is still going to be looked at. We don't know when however, nor do we know exactly what, if anything, will be done with it. It is, however, something under consideration for further adjustments.
Pain Suppression isn't anything that is planned to be changed in any way at this point in time.

There is no WoW 2.0.0 to 2.0.3 patch so don't worry about people deleting it. However the WoW 2.0.1 to 2.0.3 patch shouldn't be deleted I think.

BTW. You will need to load using the CD in order to have access to the Burning Crusade as well.
WTF??? Oo
Does that mean I will need to put my BC disc in the cd player EACH time I'll want to play BC??? Taht must not be true!

No, you won't need to have the disc every time you play. Just to install. (Edited for clarity up in the post; thanks.)

The image above shows a BC box with 'PC DVD-ROM' written on the side. I use a Mac and ordered mine from Amazon, where it says 'PC/Mac, Windows XP' - usually Blizzard release things for both Mac and PC on hybrid discs, but I'm not sure in this case. The box above suggests there are separate ones, and the last thing I want is to have to send mine back to Amazon and wait a week to get a new one. Anyone know the deal?

#5 - if you look closely, that's the Euro box, not the American version. I'd imagine things differ slightly. Also, if you look at Amazon's description, it very clearly states the both versions are in the box, which would keep with Blizzard's release habits.

My g/f is wanting to play WoW, but she is wondering if she should wait on BC. Will BC be free standing or will you need the original game installed as well?
Smithra Jan 11th 2007 11:54AM
You'll need the original game installed. Although it'd be funny to see people who could only be draenei or blood elves and couldn't leave their starting area unless someone ported them to outlands where they'd be crushed by huge roaming elites.
At $20 for the original, shouldn't be a big deal. If it is, then the $15/month subscription fee will quickly become a problem.

Will we be needing our original CD Key, or will BC come with a new one?

@6: Idiot.
@7: I am in Europe >.< Ah well, I'll just see how it goes, should be ok :)
