Remember, everything is hunter loot
Yes, that IS the Ashbringer on a hunter. Xenogears, of "Dread" on the realm Korgath, gets to wield the mighty -25 stamina sword as he ventures into the Outlands for super-awesome Raptor Strike crits! Fear his lifestealing weapon proc as he stands on the steps of Stormwind!
But seriously, pretty much every two-handed weapon is a PVP toy anyway, so it might as well go to someone who can have some fun with it. Dread already gave one Ashbringer to a warrior, and it's not going to matter at 70. I applaud Dread for having enough of a sense of humor to post this on the forums, and for still having enough people coming to raids to kill the Four Horsemen the week before the expansion.
This reminds me of the hunter guild leader who looted himself his guild's first Kalimdor's Revenge, and then proceeded to make a video of himself tanking Nef with it. All he looked like was someone who really didn't know anything about hunter itemization.
What's the best item you've seen on a totally inappropriate class?

I used to have Crusader enchanted on my Mage's Sageblade. For like three months.
It's a conversation-starter. :P

I've seen the Fiery War Axe enchanted with Icy Weapon before, but I'm not sure about worst gear /class combo. Probably the Crimson Felt Hat that a friend of mine, a Warrior, religiously wears at every available oppurtunity.

Young paladins wearing those Tier 0 shaman shoulders (you know, with the sticks) get an instant /spit. Heresy!
Vice-versa, orcs wearing Lightforge are high on the to-kill list.

My buddy's guild once gave a Vis'Kag to a warlock. The warlock had crusader put on it and just stood on the bridge outside the AH with it equipped. I lol'd.

I once saw a hunter with Obsidian Edged Blade. Why any hunter would humiliate himself like that is beyond me.

Druid with Hand of Rag...

I've wanted the Fish Terminator on my mage for a long time now but have had no luck.
I just like the idea of a melee mage.

My undead rogue got a warlock hat in a drop and I just couldn't resist wearing it on zepplins and around the the AH instead of selling it. 60-level rogues would go absolutely nuts when they saw me.

I’ve seen too many priests and mages wearing a warlocks’ Dreadmist hood.
(I say this as my warlock wears the mage tier 0 britches.)

My favorite is a mage with a Phantom Blade and Fiery Enchant. I used to think that he wore it around town for looks, as my mage does with the AD quest reward lightsaber (I had no use for the staff), but then I grouped with him and found that he did, indeed, use it in combat. What this weapon did for him, I have no idea.

#6 Hand of rag is really useful for a druid, ever heard of a feral drui, you know the ones that like to have good weps woth lots of str/stam on them.
Aeliel Jan 12th 2007 5:48PM
Uh, #11 - I'm a feral druid myself and I can assure you that unless you badly want the thing for the 30FR on it (which nobody sane would really want to do... there's better, cheaper, less idiotic ways of getting 30FR than the big orange hammer of doom), a Sulfuras is utterly wasted on a druid.
Let's see what the weapon has to make it shiny and legendary...
80.4 dps - doesn't matter for a druid unless you're meleeing in casterform (as weapon dps doesn't matter when you hit in forms, as you have your own attack speed and dps which is not influenced by the one on the weapon you're wielding)
30FR - yay? If you're that starved for FR, invest in a resilience libram or two.
5 fire damage to anybody who hits you - you don't really want this unless you're tanking (as extra damage you do when you get hit = extra aggro on you). If you want it for tanking, a cheaper and smarter alternative would be getting a balance druid to buff you with thorns... even better if they're wearing 3-piece Cenarion. Hell, get a Naglering (from BRD) if you're that worried, it's a good ring and it does only two less damage on hit than the Sulfuras. But seriously, a 5-damage shield isn't anything to write home about.
The fire damage chance on hit - won't proc in forms.
12str and 12sta - er, yay? There are BLUE WEAPONS with better stats. For sheer +str (and some +crit) there's Bonecrusher (quest reward from Dire Maul: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=18420) - and as for weapons with both +str and +sta, Fist of Omokk (LBRS - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=13167) has 12sta (just as much as Sulfuras) and 29 STRENGTH, and if you're a raider, you can pretty easily grab Doomulus Prime (22str, 22sta, 10 hit rating, quest reward - just need to kill Venoxis and Kurinnaxx... http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22348).
Say you want it for the shiny, say you want it for the ZOMFG ORANGE factor, say you want it because you're rich and nobody else in your guild wants it, but don't say you want it because it's a good weapon for a feral druid, because that's a completely idiotic thing to say when there's better BLUES in TIER 0 INSTANCES.

A buddy of mine is MT for his guild on Mal'ganis. He's well into the Dreadnaught set, but he's been collecting the tier 0 druid set. He equips the set and starts pugs for BRD and DM. He sits there and spams hearthstone.
Then he loudly complains and asks why everyone is dying...
Phoenixx Jan 13th 2007 3:04AM
So? DKP > all T___T
Benediction + Crusader = Crusaderdiction.
Xenogears > All
Dread Jan 13th 2007 4:01AM
Under normal circumstances weapons such as the ashbringer would be restricted to classes that can make better use of them, BUT, it was decided that people want the Ashbringer more for the e-peen factor than anything else (there are better weapons for warriors), and we'll all have access to better weapons soon anyway, so we let hunters bid. So grats Xenogears, E-peen +25!

With the engineering skill, you can use the Arclight Spanner as a melee weapon. Who says engineering can't generate anything useful? As I recall, in the low levels (below 6 or so), it's actually as good as any other club or mace you can find/equip. So I equipped my warlock with it for awhile. It was funny watching a warlock whack kobold miners & wolfs with a wrench, (and do a good job at it, BTW).
