Secrets of the Burning Crusade minisite
Blizzard has posted a brand new Burning Crusade mini site, and it's pretty spiffy. After a quick intro (how can I have missed that the Blood Elf mount is now called the "Hawkstrider"? What was wrong with the other name, Co-- ohhh, I see.), the music starts and you can enter the lush world of... a flash website. There's not much news in it, if you've been paying attention to BC previews at all. It runs you quickly through all the new content-- flying mounts, the new jewelcrafting profession, the new races, Arena PVP, and the new world of Outland, and even has a few good writeups of the different dungeons and factions you'll see in Outland. Overall, nothing really new, but there's good music throughout, and it's easy to check out. If you're already excited for BC (and how could you not be?), this will only add to the trembling in expectation.
Oh, almost forgot-- there's a secret minigame hidden among all the content. Poke around, if you like-- Blizzard has hidden some secret clicks in there that allow you to eventually access top secret content. It's not hard to figure out, but if you really don't want to bother with it, we'll even provide you with a walkthrough after the jump.
In the Blood Elves section of "New Races," click the quest guy and solve a jigsaw puzzle.
Click the dragon in the "New World" section for a matching puzzle.
Click the jewel in the lower right in the "Jewelcrafting" section to answer a trivia quiz (Curse you, Blizzard, for tempting us yet again with your Starcraft, and your Pandaren!).
Click the goblin on the "Arena PVP" page to fire arrows at a Druid (definitely my favorite).
Finally, click the far Nether Drake on the "Nether Drakes" page to play the most annoying game-- finding five differences in the paintings. Then move all your jewels to access the top secret content.
Ok, we'll tell you what it is: a few wallpapers and an mp3 file, supposedly music played in Silvermoon City. In fact, we'll even save you the trouble of playing the game-- the best wallpaper of the bunch is right here. If you want the other wallpapers, other sizes of them, or to hear the mp3, you'll have to play the game yourself. Cheater!

I can NOT find the fifth difference in the painting. I feel like an idiot, but I've been trying for like half an hour!

You probably missed the xtra tree branch/shrub on the far right side of the picture. It's in the middle.

I looked for the last difference forever myself. I finally copied the photo, made one transparent, and overlaid them to find the fifth difference.

I did it last night the windmill is missing a piece of wood... something about the tree on the right... a grey thing in the fenced area... something on the dragon and something on the roof?
I can't remember but I would if I could get the image at work lol.

Took me all of 1.8 seconds to find all 5 differences this morning before I got ready for work.
That's right - not even my morning Caffeine.

Those "spot the difference" games are a piece of cake if you know this trick--cross your eyes until the two images merge into one. The differences will stick out like sore thumbs on the "merged" image.

Anyone know how to save the MP3 file from the hidden content?
Seper Jan 12th 2007 4:22PM
yes... play it in windows media then go save as :p

You thought the find the differences was the worst? It took me 8 tries to get those stupid Memory game pictures matched up. I do like my fancy Xiaolin Showdown-style desktop pic, tho!

I can't seem to get the freaking shooting arrow game. It isn't working properly. I click the bow and drag to create the line then the arrow vanishes and nothing happens. GRR.

you pull backwards not forwards.....errr...I mean, I totally did not have the same problem and totally did not spend 10 minutes cursing at the thing

"Coilfang Reservoir is divided into four areas, three of which are five-man dungeons ... in addition to a 20-man raid dungeon, Serpentshrine Cavern."
Is it me or did they change that one from 25-man to 20-man?

Is it just me or are the starting stats given for the blood elves a load of hogwash (on the high side)? Another piece of the jigsaw that is Blizzard's plan to tempt noobies into making Horde characters (to redress the numerical imbalance vs Alliance)?
