Ask WoW Insider: best place to grind for a level 44 mage
It's time for this week's edition of Ask WoW Insider (yes, we usually post this on Friday, but blame Chicago for making us sit on a plane all day!). Last week you weighed in on the best duo for PVP or grinding. Our question today comes to us from Jason, aka Sentius: I am somewhat new to the game, been playing for about a month, just taking my time but getting into the game very much. I have already pre-paid for the expansion which is awesome! But I have a level 44 alliance mage, and I am wondering what are some good grind spots for him? I play with a few friends online, and when we are on, we like to do a good instance or run up a few quests... But mainly on solo time, we're out grinding trying to make some money... we are all broke since we got our mounts.
So my question to you is, what are some good ideas for a level 44 mage to grind???
You heard the man -- help him out! And don't forget to keep sending us your questions for Ask WoW Insider to ask AT wowinsider DOT com.

The Hinterlands should be a good area around your level. There are a few quests that you can do there, and many humanoids which are easy for a mage to kill.
If you fight the trolls, they also drop Wildvine, which can be sold few a good amount of profit on the AH. As well, the trolls drop necklaces (I think they are at least) that can be used in a repeating turn in quest for some extra experience.

Tanaris...
Zul'Farrak and all the quests from Gadgetzan until you're high enough (50-ish) for Un'Goro crater.

I am a Gnome mage and I'd have to agree with Tanaris. I spent a good week there, did several ZF runs, and there were a few good PvP fights as well outside of city limits.
I can't stress that enough. If you are gonna pick on Hordies do it AWAY from Gadgetzan cause those little guards pack a big punch

Tanaris. Wastewander bandits. There is a few quests you should pick in Gadgetzan as well, because they involve grinding them. Just talk to the 2 NPC's next to the inn (I forgot their name, or name of the quests sorry).
After that Pirates in Tanaris is a good spot as well, but sometimes it can be a bit crowded.

If you're talking strictly about grinding, then Badlands. There's a few spots with a bunch of elementals. Head there, make sure you're spec'd frost(asking your guild, should you have one, should be able to supply you with a decent frost AE spec), and start AE grinding. 2-3 mobs at a time, and build up from there as you get the hang of it.
Next thing you know, you'll be kiting dragons halfway across zones and killing them, or doing crazy stuff like the Crimson Courier.

I second #1's suggestion of WoW-Pro. AWESOME leveling guides.

I'd have to third the suggestion of using a leveling guide.
