'Twas the day before Burning Crusade ...
... and all through the forums, people were having pre-order problems and blaming them on Blizzard. Among the complaints:
- People on the East Coast won't be able to roll instantly on new servers since they'll be at the store picking up their copies of BC. On a similar note, west coasters are complaining that they'll be three hours behind since they can't pick up their orders until midnight their time. Blizzard, sadly, does not offer to provide free plane tickets to Maine as a remedy.
- How can Blizzard take Martin Luther King Day off? We have rights! Extra points for the use of the phrase "Blizzard could bomb a hospital full of babies and puppies tomorrow and many of you would defend them."
- Nerf ice storms! Also, due to the storm, Gamestop may have some trouble getting all their copies.
- Taking a vacation to play BC is the same as being a crackhead, because there's no better place to counsel people about video game addiction than on a forum about video games.
- Best Buy won't give BC preorders to customers today. DO SOMETHING! Oh wait, the game actually does come out tomorrow, not today. Taking "no" as an answer seems to be difficult for some people.
Do you anticipate any problems getting your copy of Burning Crusade?

Fortunately, I both have this week off (Yay, for few exams in a revision period) and live in the UK so the servers will, well should, be working in around 3 hours. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

My gamestop said that the games are in and they are on track for their midnight opening. Two blocks away from my house and only a few raindrops in the sky. I'm good to go. Blizzard hardware? That's to be seen.

Going to a midnight release at Fry's. I am expecting the throngs of geeks to be many and to be cold. Why do I do this to myself?

Going to the midnight opening in a small town in Massachusetts. I hope to God there isn't a line. I refuse to be one of "those nerds". I want to walk right in, get my copy, and take off.

I just called the gamestop and they said they were letting people in at around 11 but couldn't let us leave until 12. At least I won't be cold outside.

midnight @ Fry's... will be bundled up in more layers of clothing than I wore to Berlin at the end of winter a couple of years ago.
And calling in "sick" tomorrow... horrid case of insomnia... ^_^
and word from Fry's in Anaheim is that it's one per person. 4500 copies available? Parking lot can't even hold 1000 cars. Don't see an issue picking up a copy there.
Though... EB nearby already has their 150 copies and all are going to folks who pre-ordered... with apparently some folks being shorted their copy.

Is it wrong that I am happy that my gf has a business trip that will conveniently take her out of town for several days starting Tuesday? Oh did I mention I work from home?

I just checked, in person, at the EB Games on La Brea. They said they are anticipating 200 people in line as most will be at the signing event at Universal. So I should be good to go to get my CE copy on my lunch break tomorrow!! Can't go tonight because our one car will be with husband at work. :-(

I pre-ordered it on Amazon during Saturday. I figured I'll get it along with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas so I get free shipping. I think it may arrive tomorrow from the email I received.

By picking up your game at midnight, you are automatically one of "those nerds." That said, I am also hoping that the store I'm hitting has few enough like-minded customers that I can grab it and go. I won't have time to play until at least Tuesday evening, but I want to go ahead and start racking up the rested XP.
Jim Jan 15th 2007 3:53PM
The local EBgames in Redmond has been calling folks to confirm that their copies are in-store and available for pickup no earlier than 12:01am.
I'll be picking mine up then - just to make sure they don't "accidentally" sell it. But no plans on immediate grindification. Let the servers settle...

People are idiots. No, not you guys up top here...just those bitching about how Best Buy won't release their copy a day early, or those complaining how they can't log in on midnight exactly, or...gah! Just wait a few hours like normal people!
Oh, that's right...we're not normal people.

I can't believe so many people are complaining about some seriously stupid stuff. I just used a 2 month game card to turn on my account after being on active duty with the Army for the last seven months without playing and what happens? An ice storm knocks out all my power until probably Wednesday or Thursday.
Oh well, life sucks but I'll live without playing for a few days.
Can't wait to get into TBC though.

Going to pre-pay for my pre-ordered copy at lunchtime today (Australia), then back to EB Games @ 11pm when they open for the midnight launch. The game itself should be put in my hands around midnight. I'm taking Monday off, but I'm thinking that I'm coming down with something and won't be able to go to work tomorrow...*cough*
NewieDog Jan 15th 2007 6:36PM
I'm going to EB games as well, but didn't know you could pre-pay. Hmmmm... wonder if I can get out there and back again in my lunch break? Nah, probably not.
Technically here in Australia we have to wait until 00:01 on the 17th to get our copies!! I'll be lining up from about 11pm at Moore Park to get my copy.
