An uneasy truce
Who knew all it would take for the Horde and the Alliance to stop fighting was the Burning Crusade? (Aside from all the lore, that is.)
My home server, Magtheridon, is usually a hotbed of PVP action, with Horde generally coming out the losers. But with everyone piling into the Outlands, both sides have come to an understanding that ganking is just going to make everyone's day a little longer. So we get surreal moments like me and a shaman, surrounded by fifteen alliance, summoning our Ramparts group with no interference, and Horde and Alliance waiting patiently in line for spawns and helping each other take turns killing the mobs at the Forge Camps. Sure, there are a couple of people ganking, and others who AOE without thinking and end up as a small, mage-shaped spot on the ground, but all in all it's been an amazingly peaceful day in Hellfire Peninsula.
How's the ganking on your server?

Surprisingly that is how it is no Mug'Thol. At the start of the day people were killing each other left and right. But by late afternoon, common sense started to kick in and the aura of "friendship" and principle of "working together" seemed to take affect. I still wish we could be able to talk with each other, at least in Outlands. That would make things much easier.

On US Realm Lauging Skull, Hellfire Peninsula is oddly peaceful. I'm not afraid of going straight into a crowd of alliance to get that mob or bomb their cannon.
The only person who tried to attack me didn't see the felreaver behind him :)
I've actually found myself in situations where I was actually helping or being helped by an alliance member when fighting mobs. It's so wierd on such a viscious PvP server.

On my server (Bleeding Hollow), I've seen some ganking, especially along the northern side of the Path of Glory (where the blade-throwers are). I got ganked a good three times while trying to burn the blasted things.
Otherwise, things have been pretty good. One Tauren Hunter shot me once, but instantly apologized. Was surprised by that, but glad to know he didn't mean it.
I've also seen some ganking happening to the Horde, too, but it doesn't happen much.

laughing skull eu,
ganking is abundant, and its the horde outnumbering the alliance! i (alliance) got little done last night without getting pwn'd by a team of 5 hunters that we're grieving everything in site.

I am on a RP-PVP realm, and normally it's gank-city. I was amazed at how civilized it was last night in Outlands though. I had many times where a horde helped me kill a mob. Likely to make it re-spawn faster. Many times I was saluted or thanked by horde members for assisting them as well.
Some of my guildmates were in the ganking mood, but only for a little while since they realized how much it slowed down the XP gain. ;)

On Burning Blade-US, ganking is very rare since the expansion. The only time I got ganked was while I did the quests from expedition point and it was the most retarded rogue ganker that Horde have on the server (aka Homeless, 60 Rogue).
I've taken a screenshot of at least 30 players, Alliance and Horde around the meeting stone in Hellfire Citadel and other then the random AoE fears for laugh, there was little action... Except a group of Alliance jumped on Homeless the second he appeared. :)

There were a few ganking at the entrance to the portal on Deathwing, but once you got inside everyone was pretty cool with each other. Although I didn't experience the niceness of people waiting in line for spawns. Especially in the new race zones. Not too mention what was up with all the stupid questions in those zones. Did people just go buy the expansion and WoW at the same time or something?

Also on Bleeding Hollow, one horde guild (SG) was ganking people with a group of 10 or so early in the morning, but when I changed my guild's MotD to: "Kill on sight, leave the other horde alone" they all seemed to dry up for some reason.
Later in the day, I way overpulled near the Bleeding Hollow orcs outpost in HFP and was saved by an undead mage while at 8% life and 2% mana. He then proceeded to sheep me so I healed back to full and whacked me with his sword when I was 100%. I /cheered him and noted his guild with future helpful intentions.

There's normally quite a bit of ganking going on at Kil'Jaeden. I was worried that it would be quite a pain to get through the portal and start questing. Once I got through though, I saw everyone holding hands and cooperating and I was happy. I filled about 1/2 of my bar to 61--only ganked once the entire time. It was a blast!

I'm on Magtheridon, and cancelled my subscription (effective 2nd January) because my bad experiences in the game (griefing, ganking, immaturity, boring quests) became much more numerous than my good experiences. It's nice that the people on the server playing in the expansion aren't griefing as much. Wouldn't really help me, even if I hadn't quit, because my character is level 34. I doubt that the griefing has stopped in the non-expansion bit of the game.

I haven't seen any ganking on my server. (Darkspear US) Granted, I didn't get to the outland until later last night, so I wouldn't be surprised if it started off as gank-city, and then calmed down.

Ganking on Maelstrom in Outland has still been reduced by 90% compared to pre-BC launch.
Pre-BC launch (Horde Perspective): when near or in a group of Ally's (neutral town), you were almost 100% they were going to TRY and gank you. Run you down with a superior mount and put the smack down on you, no matter what level.
Post-BC launch (Horde Perspective): Now in Outland, I can be next to a quest giver turning in or getting a quest in a non-neutral spot and am now not even worried about it. Last night I was at the Cenarion Post (Sha'naari Wastes) in Hellfire surrounded by a dozen or more Ally's turning in a quest. Not a single one even looked at me or tried to gank me...and there were a number of them a few levels higher than me.
And...Post-BC, I have had a number ASSIST me with mob kills. Yes...ASSIST an Undead Mage!! So, I have been assisting Ally's when I come across. My personal ganking is at an all time low (even with Gnomes whom I despise)!
Don’t get me wrong...there are still gankers out there. BUT the ratio of ganking to the number of Ally's makes it miniscule compared to pre-BC.
I am liking the "truce" so far between Horde and Ally...brings a new dimension to the game not felt before. Enhances the game play for me with the new levels of honor people are displaying!!
