Hellfire Peninsula general chat: How I mine for fish?

Stepping into Hellfire Peninsula is like deja noob all over again. You don't know where you're going and what you're going to do when you get there. Where are the trainers? How do I find the flight master? Dear God, what just smushed me? It's an exciting and exhilarating time, but it makes the general chat a really, really annoying place, full of year-old memes and mispelled swear words.
Here, from the home office in Thrallmar, we present the Top Ten Questions Asked Every Five Minutes In Hellfire Peninsula General Chat:
- Where's the first aid trainer?
- Where do I go to learn jewelcrafting?
- Is there a bank out here?
- Where is Mankirk's wife? (Yes, it was funny the first time. But NOT AFTER THAT.)
- What should I use, (item that the person forgot you can't link in general) or (other item that the person forgot you can't link in general)?
- So is there a way out of here or what?
- How do I do (quest that is easily completed if you read the quest text)?
- Where is Arelion's satchel?
- Is this Portal Disruptor thing broken or what?
- Where is the Assassin?
So many Hordies ask where the Assassin is that there should just be a great big arrow in the sky pointing to him.
It's tempting to leave general chat, but then you'd miss the actual important messages like "LFM Cruel's Intentions" and "Fel reaver at 33, 43!" So I guess I'll be putting up with the questions for the time being.
What things are you already sick of hearing in general chat?

"anyone else lagging?"

Pretty well on point, to the point that it was cringe inducing.
Also, add:
The person who answers every question with "thottbot.com/beta"
-and-
"OMG [linked green quest reward], [linked blue drop], [linked purple faction reward/item that requires lev. 70]"
YES! WE GET IT! YOU FOUND LOOT! THANKS FOR LINKING IT, J/O!
I didn't mind ooo'ing and ahh'ing the first couple of times, but seriously, all day with this in guild chat.
Seriously, between frustration with the lag and "World Server Down" problems, I'm reaaaally glad I picked up Wario Ware for the Wii as well today.

Glad you mention it 'cause Hellbarrens chat has been driving me nuts all night; I felt the need to exile myself to Strattrath (or however you spell it) to to escape the pain of general chat. I don't mean to be an elitist asshole, but players who ask "where's this guy?", "where's X trainer?", and "LFG ANYTHING!" make me want to hurl. Shows who got carried through the game without having to lift a finger.

I'll preface this with 'I was in the Beta'. I made it halfway to 68, picked up and completed just about every quest in existence between the Dark Portal and Blade's Edge, level wise. I can count the number of quests that did not have clear, concise directions in the bit of lore text that the quest giver tells you before you click 'accept'. Not a single one of those were on Hellfire Peninsula. Yes, that includes Mankrik's Assassin(hint: He's dead already). There was one or two in Terrokar forest, however, if you're finishing quests from the top of your log down, you'll run across the area. If you're paying attention, you'll remember that, too.
What really annoys me is that these people are more othan capable of figuring it out. However, they want ezmode to 70 with no thought as fast as possible. The catch to that plan is that leveling gets in the way, and instead of reading, thinking, comprehending and then acting, people accept 20 quests and QQ in general chat till someone kind answers, or they stumble across it while wandering aimlessly.
So.. yea, for me, all the things up there nail it on the head. People are stupid, they've forgotten how to quest, assuming they knew in the first place, and they're still trying to coast by on others coattails.

"Where is the Nethergarde Bitter?" I hear that often.
"Is there an AH out here?"
"Where's the Path of Glory?" This gets asked way more than I thought it should.
I am shocked by the number of people that just don't read the freaking quest log. It's pretty clearly explained.

Not to sound noobish myself, but I for some reason cannot fly between thrallmar (or anywhere else on hellfire peninsula for that matter) and shattrath City (or anywhere else inland...outland) is this a bug, or something that is meant to occur... I trekked inland to get away from everything too, and found I had to hearth back or take the long way home. any suggestions?

@6) Did you pick up the Falcon Watch flight path as well? That seems to be the one that most people pass over. It connects Thrall-mart (nicknames already being made on Malorne-(H)...) with Swamprat Post, which then goes to Shattrath.

You think Hellfire chat is bad? You should read the Belf starting ground chat. It's cringe inducing.

Every character I have ever made in WoW since it went live has had the first command entered after character creation be "/leave 1" (i.e. General chat). It just makes the playing experience so much less irritating. I don't think I've ever needed to ask anything, especially with Allakhazam just a minimize away. I didn't expect the expansion to be any different.
Thijz Jan 17th 2007 7:36AM
I agree with Natali. I'm going crazy from people asking where Solanians belongings are. I mean, it's not like you have to search the whole f*cking continent for them! And the blablah Shrine too, there's this huge statue kind of thing standing in the corner, and still everyone has to ask where it is. The whole point of new races is to give you some new gameplay, not to see how fast you can run through the quests!

Honestly? I'm sick of n00b this, n00b that. I started a heck of a fight on frostwolf. Someone posted "man, i've never seen these many 60 n00bs. how did you guys make it to 60? b/c i've never seen so many dumb people". After several no-lifers agreed, i pointed out that if they left their parent's basement more often, they might see more. They were not ammused.

last night everyone was asking "where is the mail box?" all night long! Just go friggin look for the thing! there are NO mail boxes in starting towns and they are always right beside the Inn, if there is no Inn then there is NO mail box. The thing that bugs me the most is that the people that need a mail box at lvl 4 are the ones with mains sending there alts gold/loot and they should know the previously stated facts. sorry for the rant i am done now. ;)

Wheres Hogger?
Apocolipto Jan 17th 2007 8:54AM
Well i rerolled last night, BE, and id have to say i was ready to strangle some of these ____ people. I couldint remember how to Squelch general chat so i sat there with all 1000 new lvl 1 chars acting like idiots. And all of them beind "so called" "Ninjas" a term which i dont see as bad but Id rather call them "Theifing ___suckers" so. After a friend of mine gets "reported" a few times we ended up getting Summoned to Org and going to Barrens chat for some Normality. isint that sad... First impression.. I kinda wish i would have waited like 6months before buying the exp so I didint have to deal with it.
Orin Jan 17th 2007 8:56AM
I forgot about General chat. Any time I mistakenly joined it I quickly left due to the idiocy of so many people in-game.
Seper Jan 17th 2007 9:31AM
lol the draenai area was full of noobs. (litterly.. alot of first chracters and low lvls rerolling)
2 major questions were
Wheres the quest to ride the ellek?
Wheres the mailbox? (in the starting area? i mean COME ON!!)
Sylythn Jan 17th 2007 9:25AM
What's this General Chat thing? :) I've left that off ever since Day 2 of playing WoW. Those Fel Reaver sightings should be going up on LocalDefense anyhow!
Swiftlydead Jan 17th 2007 9:30AM
roll horde, obviously. Less young nublets.
Sideshow Jan 17th 2007 9:47AM
@17: Unfortunately, you're wrong. BE area was 10-times worse than the Dranaei area. We are not prepared!
mathew Jan 17th 2007 9:49AM
i had to ask on general where the assassin was, i'll admit. and why, you ask? since the description points out exactly where he is? well i'm sorry, but it doesn't. north of hellfire citadel is exactly where the assassin is NOT. he is in the general direction of north in the same way that i can say alaska is north of vermont; technically that's correct however a better direction would be north west or hell, even west.
