Up and down, all week long
Well I'd love to give you first impressions of the Burning Crusade, but the only land I've visited is Outlagg. So far, my realm, Thunderhorn, has been all over the place tonight.I started out by taking my Shaman to Outland-- Hellfire Peninsula was up, but lagging so much I couldn't even get off my mount. So I pushed inland, to Shattrath City, where I got my first quest done (the tour of the city is fun and easy, and gives you a little lore, a little XP, and that nice Aldor vs. Scryer decision). Eventually, however, that too was lagged. My friend and I then decided to start up our Blood Elf alts (I'm doing a mage), but while there were plenty of player Blood Elves in the starting area, the NPCs had decided to stay home. It's about then that the world server crashed, kicking us all off.
Later I tried to run Hellfire Ramparts, and we started rolling, even as the Outland server crashed (all of our guildies exited the game). Unfortunately, we had a bad pull, and wiped, and then as soon as I released, the server did a "what the??" (because it wasn't there), and kicked me out of the game again. Our instance group is going to try again later.
It's too bad, because everything else I've seen of the expansion is terrific-- the lands look great, the story is deep, the music is terrific, and the items are droolworthy (even the few greens that dropped in the instance made us all go "whoah", and we're in Tier 2 sets). If it weren't for the lag, things would be great (and on the less popular servers, things probably are). But considering how many more people are going to be picking up BC and playing this weekend, outlook not good for Outland on the high traffic servers.

Ultimately, that's something specific to your server. Azjol Nerub has been pretty much stable since midnight Tuesday, and to my knowledge, hasn't crashed. Ultimately, it's hit or miss based on which server you're on, and from reading the forums, there's only a couple of them, and as usual, Blizzard is working on it. Once it's all said and done, I wouldn't be surprised to see people on those servers getting a day or two of comp.

I got transfered to a new server just hours before the xpac release. I havent had a problem yet, and my BE Lock is leveling up fast.

There was a lot of lag on my realm last night during prime-time hours. I was still able to kill stuff, but only by spamming the same couple buttons over and over and hoping the thing died before me... oh well. I got a few quests done before I logged for the night.

There are so many people hitting the Hellfire Penninsula content, that it was too laggy to quest. I think I'll give everyone a month or so to get past that and move on to higher level things, before I go up and start in the area.
I've got my blood elf to level in the meantime - and while there are a ton of new be's, it's not laggy.
Elune reached critical mass last night around 8pm West Coast and we experienced 600+ queues and World Server crashes. I hope that doesn't continue much longer...but we are a high pop server. At least 8pm is Midnight for me...that's a reasonable quitting time anyway.

no problems at all on my server. everything was smooth, no lag. i'm loving all the new green drops and quest rewards. my crappy blue gear is going to be replaced very quickly.
i did, however, have to copy the CD's to my hard drive in order to install the game, but that was no big deal.

Bwhahaha! So glad I transferred 3 of my 60s off T-horn two weeks ago. I heard the server was a major crash fest. :( My new home was relatively stable..although I *did* get down to 24 fps in Honor hold. Bastages!

Skullcrusher was a nightmare. 20 sec instacasts with the outlands repeatedly crashing all night. I didn't even get that first noob quest out of thrallmar done because i couldn't kill anything before it killed me. We ended up just going and doing the blood furnace which was so fun though, being new content and all. I just wish I could have gotten the precursor quests done for it so I could have gotten some more xp, but ah well.
I'm guessing skullcrasher will be one of the first realms to be split. Day 1 servers are such a mess, but I still refuse to leave because our community is so amazing. sigh.

Started a BE pally on tues and am now a lvl 17 with 1500 armor as of thursday. I continued to lvl my lvl 50 druid so didn't put all the time in with pally. Although with all the new pallies i decided to solo Wailing Caverns and pick up greens i could sell for the hungry new toons. 25+ gold later i think it was a great idea. I think i will do it a few more times because some people havent bought expansion because it sold out.
